For the past few days, Ye Zhi had been eating according to the recipe customized for her by Gu Ren. However, because she had been on a diet for too long, even if her appetite was slightly increased, her body was still very weak.
Ye Zhi glanced at Gu Ren between her filming sessions. Ye Zhi didn’t talk to him and Gu Ren didn’t step forward; the two of them just stared at each other from a distance.
Ye Zhi saw Gu Ren frowning and she could see the worry in his eyes. Ye Zhi sighed, wanting nothing more than to smoothen out the wrinkles between Gu Ren’s brows.
She wanted to tell him not to look at her as she didn’t want him to be worried.
Just as Ye Zhi was focused on that train of thought, she suddenly felt that her vision suddenly darkened and a wave of dizziness struck her. She leaned over to one side and collapsed uncontrollably to the ground.
Gu Ren had been paying attention to Ye Zhi’s movements all along. Seeing this scene play out, his expression changed drastically and he stood up.
Ye Zhi fell to the ground and the sounds of the crews’ exclamations could be heard all around. The pounding of the footsteps were chaotic and the sounds were mixed up, jumbling into a cacophony of noises along with their voices.
Ye Zhi was so weak that she couldn’t even lift a finger. She opened her eyes with difficulty and a sliver of light was visible to her.
Not far away from that light was a shadow.
There seemed to be a tall figure walking towards her. Under the drapes of the only source of luminance she could see, the man stood tall and straight like a cold fir tree.
Ye Zhi tried her best to open her eyes and look at the man’s face, but her strength was almost entirely gone and she couldn’t even open her eyelids at this point.
Within the next second, Ye Zhi felt herself completely sinking into a bottomless pit of darkness and fell unconscious.
The moment Ye Zhi fainted, Gu Ren stood up abruptly and walked towards Ye Zhi quickly, panic and worry suddenly filling his heart.
Gu Ren walked in a hurry and soon came to Ye Zhi’s side.
When Gu Ren walked towards Ye Zhi, there were shouts of surprise heard around him and everyone looked at the two of them in shock.
Gu Ren didn’t notice them; he bent down and looked at Ye Zhi with anxiousness and worry reflected in his eyes. Ye Zhi closed her eyes and pursed her lips slightly, her jaw much sharper than it usually appeared to be.
Gu Ren’s heart suddenly hurt and his voice trembled slightly, the worrying emotions evident in his tone, “Ye Zhi…”
The atmosphere around him was so quiet when no one responded to him.
Ye Zhi laid there quietly as a stream of sunlight passed by. The surroundings seemed to have become silent as the onlookers gazed at her, as if she was a fragile flower.
Gu Ren’s eyes were as black as ink, but his face was paler than paper.
At this time, Gu Ren was facing the light, but his body seemed to be covered by a severe blanket of cold. The shadows under his dark eyelashes surfaced the panic and uneasiness that was surging in his heart.
Gu Ren stretched out his hand and slowly touched Ye Zhi’s face.
Because of his extreme worry for her, Gu Ren’s hands trembled slightly. His hand was extremely cold and the moment he touched Ye Zhi, he felt that she seemed to have lost all her usual warm temperature and was surrounded by snowflakes.
Both the director and the staff saw Gu Ren’s actions and they became even more surprised. However, Gu Ren stared straight at Ye Zhi with a very soft expression.
The eyes of others, the public opinion of the society, the doubts of the outside world— he didn’t bother to care about those anymore.
