Chapter 228: The Red-eye Ravens

The red-eye ravens were innately evil. They would torture their prey to death instead of killing them in one strike. They were very intelligent, cunning, and greedy. They were considered untransformed prehistoric demonic beasts.

More importantly, the red-eye ravens possessed a variety of abilities. Aside from mastering the illusion technique, they could also unleash the Tribe Formation. Utilizing their geographical advantage, they could even put up a fight against the True Venerable Spirit Plane cultivators.

Such a flock of savage demonic beasts was guarding Fascination’s End. Consequently, it would be challenging for Chen Jingzhai and his group to traverse the canyon. Even Tu Ruoyan admitted that she would not be able to pass the canyon without relying on her identity as a member of the silver fox tribe.

In other words, even though she was Chen Jingzhai’s servant now, she could only cross the canyon alone using her identity as a fox. She would not be able to lead the rest of them across. The red-eye ravens had sharp senses and were not easily fooled.

Chen Jingzhai listened to Tu Ruoyan without commenting. Their group soon arrived near Fascination’s End. Before they could even approach the canyon, they sensed a majestic magnetic power.

“Now, I believe the demonic fox’s words. As expected, the red-eye ravens can rely on the geography of the canyon to seize the advantage and withstand the True Venerable Spirit Plane cultivators,” Celestial Maiden Han lamented. “This is clearly a natural treasure trove.”

“There should be a high-grade magnetic leyline within the canyon. If the resources here could be refined, even the lowest grade ones would be spiritual treasures,” explained Sage Xu. He was also shocked. “The magnetic power here is too rich. I am not used to it either.”

A magnetic power emanated from the air. It was as though they had been submerged in water. Even a Golden Core Sage felt dull. If they had not consumed the Gold Pearl Elixir, their discomfort would most likely have been even more intense.

Chen Jingzhai was unhindered by this power. Over transmitted thoughts, he instructed his group to use the phone bugs as much as possible and avoid using their divine minds. He feared they would hurt themselves if they attempted to do so. They then continued to approach the canyon.

After passing through a dense forest, Fascination’s End appeared before the group.

Clouds flowed like rivers between the cliff walls of the canyon. It was so wide that even Chen Jingzhai could not see the other side. Their surroundings were desolate, and there was no sound of any wildlife.

Chen Jingzhai frowned slightly as he looked at Celestial Maiden Miao Yun.

They had developed a tacit understanding between them across the battles they had faced. Celestial Maiden Miao Yun waved her hands, and the clouds began to dissipate. The group saw the red-eye ravens circling the other side of the canyon, as well as the resources on the cliffs.

......

Even the smallest red-eye raven was eight feet tall. Its wings were even larger. The pure black feathers of its wings made them appear mysterious. Most importantly, their red eyes bore a natural evil look.

They formed groups as they landed on the protruding rocks on the cliff. As they stood quietly and motionlessly, they appeared like statues. However, as the clouds dissipated, they began to look at Chen Jingzhai’s group one by one.

A storm of magnetic power followed their gazes and swept toward Chen Jingzhai’s group. Chen Jingzhai flicked a finger, and the Great Heaven Mirror flew out to block the Celestial Maiden Miao Yun. Light shone from the mirror instantly, freezing the magnetic power in place.

Not only that, but Chen Jingzhai also sensed the magnetic power being consumed by the Great Heaven Mirror. This caused him to be stunned momentarily. Then, he suddenly recalled the black magnet that he had exchanged with the female jackal.

As they were traveling, he had refined this black magnet into the Great Heaven Mirror. He had also prepared a Magnetic Light Formation in the Great Heaven Mirror. This was one of the inherited formations of Daoxuan Peak. It was a Grade 3 formation.

Initially, he only wanted to increase the power of the Great Heaven Mirror while giving it magnetic power. After all, the Great Heaven Mirror was a restricted formation tool, so the Magnetic Light Formation and the black magnet were compatible with it.

However, the Magnetic Light Formation was a Grade 3 formation, and he only had one type of material, so he had not succeeded in setting it up. Instead, he used the material to set up a Rudimentary Magnetic Light Formation. This was just a Grade 2 formation.

Now that the Great Heaven Mirror had consumed magnetic power, the might of the Rudimentary Magnetic Light Formation increased dramatically. At the same time, magnetic light was coalesced in the mirror, making it possible for the Magnetic Light Formation to form.

“Little Master-Uncle?” Sage Lu Tao called out to Chen Jingzhai in concern when he saw the latter standing motionlessly where he stood.

“I’m alright,” replied Chen Jingzhai with a smile as he came back to reality. “A fateful encounter has arrived. My magic treasure can absorb magnetic power. When its power increases, we might be able to cross Fascination’s End.”

“That’s great!” replied the crowd with happy looks.

“The waves of magnetic power are apparent. But, Young Master, if you wish to refine treasures, you will most likely alert the red-eye ravens,” said Tu Ruoyan. “We are also on the other side, so the magnetic power is not pure.”

“It won’t be a problem,” said Chen Jingzhai with a smile. He pointed his finger, and the Great Heaven Mirror flipped over. The mirror faced the red-eye ravens directly. He then said, “Sorry for troubling all of you, but I will need your help to protect me for a while. I will need some time.”

“Little Master-Uncle, be at ease. We are here,” replied Celestial Maiden Han.

The rest of the crowd also responded. Along their journey, they had come to acknowledge Chen Jingzhai completely. The dangers of Fascination’s End were visible to the naked eye. Since Little Master-Uncle was confident and had come across a fateful encounter, they would give it their all to make it possible.

Light spread out on the Great Heaven Mirror, and the dense Restrictions expanded. Many grand Restrictions and Small Heavens Cloud Forbidden Restriction were inlaid and interlinked within each other. The Restrictions rapidly enveloped the crowd.

The red-eye ravens on the other side lost sight of Chen Jingzhai’s group. They did not pay them heed. Fascination’s End was their territory. The cultivators had yet to step into it.

As everyone watched, Chen Jingzhai sat down cross-legged. He gently formed seals with his fingers. The Rudimentary Magnetic Light Formation within the Great Heaven Mirror was fully activated. A powerful suction force was created.

Formless magnetic power was immediately drawn in by the Great Heaven Mirror. It surged into the mirror and was refined by the Rudimentary Magnetic Light Formation. Magnetic light, which was as brilliant as the auroras, was created.

It was clearly visible that the Great Heaven Mirror began to expand outward. It was no longer restricted to protecting where the group was. Instead, it began to spread into the canyon. Even the clouds formed a spiral from the suction force.

[Caw! Caw! Caw!]

The red-eye ravens noticed the situation on the other side. At first, they did not take it seriously. After all, it was just some magnetic power loss. The amount was insignificant compared to the huge amount in Fascination’s End.

As the light on the mirror expanded, the spiral of clouds grew larger. Magnetic power was being sucked away at an alarming rate. The red-eye ravens began to fidget. Finally, they frantically cried out, and a team of red-eye ravens flew out.

They were demonic beasts that had a natural affinity to magnetic power. They were extremely sensitive to it. Although they had not seen Chen Jingzhai’s group, even with their astonishing vision, they had discovered traces of their Restrictions. It was not difficult to put the two together.

Unsurprisingly, their rage blew up. Three Grade 2 red-eye ravens attacked first. They spat out magnetic light from their mouths. Then, they directly charged toward the spiral and the Restrictions.

The crowd behind the Great Heaven Mirror did not attack. The light on the mirror instead gently swept across the ravens. All the magnetic light was destroyed and consumed by the Great Heaven Mirror.

This seemed to be a provocation. The team of red-eye ravens immediately went into a frenzy. Their red eyes began to bleed, and they unleashed a powerful illusion technique. At the same time, other red-eye ravens dived downward.

Chen Jingzhai frowned slightly. Grotto-heavens divine light expanded before his forehead. Having received his orders, Lord Hailong wielded the Double Dragon Hammer and struck the Ocean Taming Drum. A sound erupted from within the divine light and directly expanded outward.

The red-eye ravens’ illusion technique was immediately destroyed. The sound of the drum contained the dragon’s might. It caused the Grade 2 red-eye ravens that were diving down to fall helplessly onto the ground before Chen Jingzhai.

Chen Jingzhai did not hold back. With a sweep of divine light, the unfortunate red-eye ravens were absorbed. The innate money tree actually came to join in the fun. Its roots immediately pierced through the red-eye ravens.

Then, a message was sent to Chen Jingzhai. The innate money tree wanted more red-eye ravens and even magnetic power. It even extended its roots in excitement toward Fascination’s End.

There were treasures in Fascination’s End!

Chen Jingzhai felt his heart tighten as he became excited.

The innate money tree was actually very picky. It was attracted to demonic beasts with powerful abilities or innate objects. Chen Jingzhai had not forgotten how he felt when he absorbed the Rotating Herb.

From the looks of it, they had to plan thoroughly.

As Chen Jingzhai thought of this, he unleashed the Grotto-heavens divine light and allowed the roots of the innate money tree to appear directly. The roots then wrapped around the Great Heaven Mirror. Thus, the suction force of the Great Heaven Mirror significantly increased.

He could clearly sense that the majestic magnetic power was being drawn toward the mirror. All of it fell into the same spiral. A portion of it was absorbed by the Great Heaven Mirror, while most of it was absorbed by the innate money tree.

For the red-eye ravens, this was more than just a provocation!

A Grade 3 red-eye raven circled in the sky, cawing as it did. It then cladded its bodies in a brilliant rainbow-colored coat of light. Finally, it became a beam of flowing light as it charged toward the Great Heaven Mirror like a meteorite falling to the ground.

Chen Jingzhai did not attack. Instead, the roots of the innate money tree gently curled and struck the Grade 3 red-eye raven dead on. Then, the tree began to feast on the delicious meal that had delivered itself to its door.
