Chapter 160 - 160 Common Wishes160 Common Wishes
At some point, Lian Jing had appeared behind her. He looked at her blank ribbon and frowned. He said sarcastically, “I didn’t expect you to be so pure-hearted.”
Shen Yin jumped and hurriedly turned to look at him. “Aren’t you going to write?”
Lian Jing pursed his lips and did not answer her question. Instead, he asked, “What do you wish for?”
“I would like to wish for money, but this place is for marriage,” Shen Yin answered matter-of-factly.
Lian Jing raised his eyebrows and looked at the greedy and heartless woman in front of him. He suddenly chuckled and nodded in approval. “Very honest. Then I know what to write.”
Shen Yin looked at him distrustfully. Lian Jing reached out to hold her from behind. He covered her eyes with one hand and held her hand tightly with the other. Together, they wrote two words on the red satin: Lian Jing.
Shen Yin brushed away the big hand that blocked her view. When she saw the two big words on the satin, she jerked back as if she had been scalded. She hurriedly retracted her hand and looked at the smiling man in disbelief. “Who wants to write your name!”
Lian Jing explained earnestly, “Didn’t you wish for money? I have plenty of money.”
Shen Yin ignored this wealthy man. She grabbed the red ribbon and was about to throw it into the trash can, but Shen Nian quickly snatched it away. “I’ll help you hang it up, Mom!”
Shen Yin looked speechlessly at the father and son who were clearly in cahoots. She felt that she might have fallen into their trap.
Seeing that Shen Nian had already begged the old man selling the ribbons to hang the ribbon on the tree, Shen Yin gave up the idea of snatching the ribbon back and looked at Lian Jing helplessly. “What are you up to now?”
Lian Jing lowered his eyes, his long eyelashes hiding his emotions. His tone was calm. “I’m not the one who wanted to come.”
Shen Yin frowned. It was obvious that she did not trust him. Right now, he and Shen Nian were in cahoots, working together to plot against her.
Lian Jing panicked when she did not reply. He quickly grabbed her arm and looked at her steadily. “But I want to tell you that I like…”
“Daddy! Look, I’m done!” Shen Nian rushed over excitedly. Only then did he realize that something was amiss between the two of them. He quickly shut his mouth and retreated with his eyes wide open.
Shen Yin regained her wits and hurriedly pulled his hand. She reprimanded him softly with a red face, “There are many people here. Kids shouldn’t run around.”
The heat in Lian Jing’s eyes faded. He looked away coldly and looked at the bustling Mount Marriage. He laughed at himself.
When they got back to the hotel, Shen Nian claimed that he was too tired and wanted to take a shower first. He took his toiletries and went into the bathroom, refusing to come out. Only Shen Yin and Lian Jing were left in the room, looking at each other awkwardly.
Shen Yin’s heart was beating wildly. What had he wanted to say on Marriage Mountain?
Lian Jing pursed his lips tightly. Looking at Shen Yin’s distant expression, his heart ached slightly. Suddenly, he grabbed her hand without thinking and clumsily said, “I want to bring you somewhere.”
“Where?” Shen Yin looked at him in surprise, wanting to remind him that it was already nine in the evening.
However, Lian Jing had made up his mind. As he used his phone to do something, he held Shen Yin’s hand and walked out of the hotel.
“Where exactly are we going?” Shen Yin was filled with doubts as Lian Jing stuffed her into the taxi.
The car drove to the lake. Lian Jing paid and pulled Shen Yin’s hand and led her to a small hill. He pointed at an empty space by the lake and smiled. “What do you think is there?”
Confused, Shen Yin looked in the direction of his finger. “There’s nothing.”
“There is.” Just as Lian Jing finished speaking, she saw Zhong Xin get out of his car and walk over with a large box tied with a red ribbon.
“Let’s begin,” Lian Jing instructed calmly.
Under Shen Yin’s increasingly puzzled gaze, Zhong Xin placed the things he was carrying on the empty space by the lake, took out a lighter, and flicked his lighter.
The fireworks tore through the silent night sky and bloomed into countless gorgeous fireworks by the lake.
The evening breeze was cool, but Shen Yin’s heart was warm.
She looked at Lian Jing in disbelief. The colorful fireworks were bright, but his eyes were brighter.
Lian Jing held her hand and smiled expectantly. “Can I continue what I was trying to say on Marriage Mountain?”
Shen Yin could only hear her heart beating wildly. Right on the heels of that, Lian Jing clearly said, “I like you.”
“What did you say?” Shen Yin muttered unconsciously. Her mind was blank. Even the sky full of fireworks could not fill it.
Lian Jing held her hand tightly, and a thin layer of sweat appeared on his palm. “I said, I like you.”
Shen Yin eyes widened and looked at Lian Jing’s increasingly focused gaze. Suddenly, she said without rhyme or reason, “Why is Zhong Xin here?”
Lian Jing sighed and but still replied, “I gave him a paid vacation. He’s also here for a vacation.”
“Then… you asked Nian Nian to choose this place?” Shen Yin did not know what to say anymore and could only desperately search for irrelevant topics.
Lian Jing still answered her seriously, “No, this is Nian Nian’s sincere wish.”
