Chapter 61 Torture
Let's put the issue of entering aside for now.
As soon as William succeeded in advancing, he brought Alec back to the town and captured the spy!
The level 62 killer was not very famous. However, he knew whom the killer belonged to, and whom the killer was serving. Thus, there was no need for the spy to continue being hidden.
But when they left, unknown to Alec, a shadow emerged and slowly walked out of the grass.
It was Lautner. He had only wanted to test whether Alec was loyal enough.
They returned to the City of Dawn that night. William's whole body was stained with blood. It shocked the guard at the city wall, who hastily lowered the bridge and opened the city gates.
Then, the duo reached a private residence.
William kicked the door. The person in the house seemed to have sensed something and tried to escape through the window. But then, William shot an arrow towards his thigh. A shout in pain came from the person and he fell.
"Lord, do you need me to interrogate him?" Alec asked as he walked beside him.
William narrowed his eyes. He grabbed his hair and dragged the spy out of the house. "No need. I will do it."
"N-no. Lord, lord, let me go… Ah, no…" The pitiful wails of the spy had no effect on William. The spy struggled to break free with whatever energy he had left, but it was in vain.
William glanced at the spy in front of him. With a wave of his hand, he fiercely pulled off the hair along with his scalp. Blood had started dripping.
The pain was more than whatever the spy could have imagined, and he couldn't help but cry out mournfully.
But it was useless. In the City of Dawn, no one would come to help him…
"Speak! Who has sent you?"
"Lord! W-what are you talking about? I know nothing. I just want to become a citizen here…"
Crack!
William had kicked the spy and broke his right leg. The leg bone was now exposed to the air. But before the spy could hold his leg and cry, William grabbed his lower leg bone and pulled it out viciously.
"Ah! ah ah ah ah ah!!!"
"My leg, m-my leg…" The spy widened his eyes. He couldn't imagine that the elf in front of him, whose body was now covered in blood, was that kind and compassionate Lord he knew of.
And, what kind of interrogation was this even?
Was there a need for him to be so brutal?
The moment he saw William kick down the door, he had realized that his identity had been exposed. But what kind of interrogation was this? It should have been gentle before becoming brutal, right?
This, this isn't according to the script…
William lifted the leg bone, some traces of flesh could still be seen. He slowly squatted in front of the spy. His voice was as cold as ice. "Speak! Blurt out everything that you know. If you don't, I will make you eat your own flesh. Then, I will lock you up in captivity until you finish all the flesh and die."
The spy started to tremble, and a chill went down his spine. At that moment, he finally believed it.
The demon in front of him would definitely do this.
The kindness and compassion in the past was all just an act.
No wonder his leader wanted to kill him.
No wonder his leader felt that this elf was an obstacle in their pursuit of freedom.
The lord of the City of Dawn had to die!
"The leader was right. If we occupy the City of Dawn, the armies from the Freedom Alliance can move freely. The information I sent out was correct. He must die." The spy thought deeply about this, but he forgot that there was an impatient Legendary Boss in front of him.
Was William cruel?
No, he was just afraid of death.
Who could have thought that a traveler, who had an ostensible fondness of something he feared, would fear this world after actually traveling?
Who would have thought that a player who could revive countless times, would feel alarmed when he had only one life left in the game.
How scared was William?
He always had Lautner on his heels, no matter the time and place. Did this count?
He was in fact very scared!
He was scared to death.
It was just that he typically concealed this well. He gave off a very kind and relaxed atmosphere, and that he didn't care.
But this did not mean that he was not afraid of dying.
Evidently, he had been avoiding contact with the human nations, and with many threatening people.
But before he could transmigrate, someone had wanted to kill him for no reason. And till now, they had shown no signs of stopping…
The demon in his heart had been enlarging endlessly all this time. He harbored immense hatred for the person who wanted to kill him.
When he knew who this person was, he was also sure that no one, even his family and friends in this world, had provoked this person. But still, this person wanted to kill him.
So.
He would not mind using the most brutal methods to deal with him, or even with his subordinates.
William fiercely stepped on the spy's broken leg. Psst. Blood spurted on the ground.
"Ah ah ah ah ah…" The spy's eyes turned red, and the veins on his neck popped out. He clenched his fists rightly. He fiercely looked at William, but his mouth was still shut.
His broken leg had been reduced to rotten meat, even his leg bone had been pulled out. But this only served to strengthen his hatred.
The spy was using this hatred to endure against William's torture.
But as a veteran player with ten years of experience of playing with a 50% upper limit on pain, William was used to seeing deaths and torture. His seniors, in particular, had liked this realistic, free world.
He had been a legend once.
He was still one.
William laughed in a domineering manner. Then, he slowly stretched out his long hands…
The wails rose and fell. It was rhythmic, like a beautiful tune echoing through the night.
Frightening wails and begs of mercy were resounding through a radius of 100 meters.
Alec was standing guard outside. He couldn't help but feel a chill down his spine at the voices. He could imagine the fear the killer was feeling. The neighbors probably had been traumatized too.
Luckily, several guards had been patrolling the area. The civilians could safely wait at home as the guards inform them about the situation. A killer who tried to kill their lord had been captured.
The civilians understood and didn't become afraid of the mournful wails.
After all, the lord had treated them very well, something that the other human nations couldn't have provided them. If there had been an assassination attempt on their kind lord, they did not mind if the perpetrator was tortured to death.
But they could have never imagined that the one carrying out the torture was the lord himself…
Therefore.
The civilians didn't mind and listened to the cries the entire night.
William had not continued questioning.
Even if the spy in front of had enough, and wanted to reveal something.
He had not wanted to continue the interrogation.
All the grievances about dying that William had since he had transmigrated, he vented it all. The torture had gone to the point that there was no unharmed part on the spy's body. His skin had been stripped off, and the tendons pulled out!
Morning came.
The door opened and William walked out.
When a few guards came in to clean up the corpse and the room, they saw flesh strewn all over the house. A corpse lay on the ground with its bones sticking out. They immediately vomited. And then, they vomited again…
"Who was that slave?" Lautner stood beside him and quietly asked.
William squatted by the river and washed his face. He took a deep breath and sighed. "He was only keeping a lookout on me and providing information to others."
"Your ways were too cruel. It's not like you. Strong people should not—"
"No." William interrupted Lautner. "Since someone weak had chosen to challenge someone strong, they should have mentally prepared themselves. If they want to kill me, why should I give them an easy death? It does not make sense. They shouldn't enter hell so simply without any torture."
William slowly stood up and looked at Lautner. "When I was weak, my enemy had allowed me to survive while I was trembling with fear. I endured it, did not even dare to fart. I could pretend that I didn't know anything about the assassinations."
"But the moment I obtained authority and power, my revenge had started."
Lautner had a complex expression. He had never expected William to change so much after returning from the Dark Night City."
"No matter what, Lautner will always be your Executive."
"Uncle?"
"Ah… There is no need to call me uncle, my Lord. I will take my leave now. Goodbye."
