"That is good. Now, I have a different proposition for you. What do you think about making the same agreement as the one that you made with my mother, but we will have to change about what benefits I'm going to receive?" Jack asked with a shallow smile on his face.
The old man was completely flabbergasted. Even though he had been expecting that Jack might take this chance to ask for more from them, he had never expected that Jack was actually asking to uphold the end that his mother did not fulfill.
But, the only thing that he did not like about it was the fact that, Jack was implying that they had to give him different benefits, if they wanted his assistance.
Even though the old man really wouldn't mind the assistance from Jack, there was still one problem, something that he really doubted. "Even if we agree, how are you going to provide us with the resources? Just from before, I came to realize that you actually have no much information about the strongholds."
"Almost all the resources that we require come from the stronghold. The resources are not things that can be found easily, and can only be found in the front lines. So, if you answer me how you are going to provide them, then I might consider this."
Jack already knew that the old man was going to ask something like this. But still, he didn't panic, and replied confidently, "I will be going to the stronghold in just a few months. Once I get there, I can begin providing your organization with resources."
The old man was speechless. He looked at Jack, wanting to question if Jack was joking or was serious about the matter that he was talking about.
"Do you know what the stronghold is really? It is true that you are strong, and perhaps if you go to a stronghold, you can take a higher position. But still, the matter concerning the resources is completely different." The old man said seriously.
Looking at Jack who did not react at his words, he continued, "You know, even though it is true that the several organizations that are presented in the strongholds do possess resources, they are not the ones that control the resources."
"Almost all the resources that can be found within the strongholds is controlled by the bigger strongholds. Even if you are currently strong, I do believe that you are not capable of matching the top elites of the biggest strongholds."
When Jack heard that, he was a little surprised. But still, he was not worried. After all, if it had been anyone else, perhaps it might have been a little troublesome for them to get the resources without the approval of the top strongholds.
But for him, it was completely different. As long as he got something, legally, it was going to be multiplied by a hundred times by the system.
There was no need for him to think about the matter of whether the system was going to do that or not. After all, the contract that he had been given by Samantha had also been multiplied by 100 times.
That was enough proof for him that, as long as he did something and earned resources in the stronghold, then, it would be multiplied by 100 times. It was either in terms of quality or quantity. So, supplying the shadow organization with the resources was not going to be a problem at all.
"Why are you worried about that? After we sign the contract, I am the one who is going to suffer if I don't fulfill my end of the contract. At the same time, it doesn't make any difference if I don't fulfill the end of my contract, or you don't agree. After all, it is not like you are having any other source of resources currently." Jack replied calmly.
The old man thought about it and he knew that Jack was right. After all, it was not like by signing a contract with Jack, they were going to lose much. No, It was not like they were going to receive any resources even if they did not sign the contract with Jack.
But, there was only one problem. And that was, Jack required some benefits from them. And for that reason, in case he received the benefits, and failed to give them the benefits, then that was going to imply that they were the ones going to suffer.
Even though it was true that Jack was going to be punished by the contract, and he was going to die, Jack's life and death did not matter to them. Resources mattered.
"Jack, had this been a fair exchange, I could have agreed. But, it is completely different if we are supposed to give you the benefits, but you fail to fulfill your end just like how your mother did." The old man shook his head as he replied.
"How do you know that you are going to give me any benefits without me doing my part? I don't really remember mentioning anything that you are supposed to give me. So, why don't you ask me to tell you what I want from you first?" Jack shrugged his shoulders as he replied.
The old man thought about It, and he's saw no reason to refuse. In any case, the decision was in his hand. Whether he was going to agree on what Jack was going to ask from them or not, that was something that he was going to decide after hearing what Jack was going to say.
"Please go ahead. I would like to hear what it is that you want from me." The old man rested his back on the couch and motioned for Jack to continue.
"It is simple really. What I want from the shadow organization is for you to work for me for 10 years…" Jack stated. But before he could even finish, the old man jumped to his feet.
"Preposterous! How dare you ask for something like that from us? There is no way that I am going to agree for my shadow organization to become a slave for you. Even your mother did not ask for something as big as you are doing!" The old man shouted in rage.
Jack looked at him without much reaction on his face. After realizing that the old man had calmed down a little, he continued, "What I want is simple. I provide the resources, you work for me. I don't care about the so-called top organizations found in the top strongholds."
"All that you will have to do will be simple. I will be assigning you a task, and you will complete it."
The old man was just about to continue retorting when suddenly, he thought that Jack's suggestion wasn't bad. But, there was only one problem. That was, if Jack was going to ask for something from them, and that thing was going to cost them their lives.
"I know what you are thinking about. Since I think that your organization is important, there is no way that I am going to sacrifice you. Believe me when I say that, all the tasks that I will be assigning to you will be simple." Jack said with a serious expression on his face.
ραΠdαsΝοvel.cοm The old man looked at Jack for a moment, and began thinking about the matter seriously. At this moment, it was either he trusted Jack, or, they continued trying to survive.
Without the protection that they were receiving from the previous contracts, they had already begun facing trouble from the organizations that had realized that things had changed. And, if they did not get anyone who had already broken the gene lock as a leader or as a deterrence, they were going to suffer soon.
On the other hand, even though what Jack was asking from them could be said to be too much, asking them to serve for 10 years, but what choice did they have?
What's more, according to Jack's words, it was obvious that he did not have the intention of controlling them. Instead, he only intended to give them a task that they were supposed to complete, and that was all.
"Can you… Can you reduce the period that we are supposed to work for you?" The old man asked.
"You have to know that the 10 years is the time that I want the contract to be effective. After 10 years, I will be done. As for whether we can renew the contract or not, that will depend on your performance during these 10 years." Jack replied.
"Additionally, during these 10 years, I am going to be providing you with the resources that you require. But of course, I do believe that you are not supposed to be asking me to provide you with some things that you surely know that don't match the value of the work that you are doing." Jack continued.
The old man thought about it, and finally came to a decision. Even though it was going to be a stain for the shadow organization if the other organizations of the stronghold that the shadow organization had been in before knew about it, what was the difference?
If they did not agree to this, then, the shadow organization was going to be doomed. On the other hand, even though they might be considered subordinates for another person, there was still a fact that the shadow organization was going to survive.
And looking at Jack's current capabilities, perhaps the shadow organization might be able to soar. After all, just from the fact that Jack didn't know about his mother, then that implied that for him to reach the current level that he was in, there was something else that he was depending on.
"All right. Should I get the contract?" The old man asked.
