“The second method should be a joke. This school produces crazy people.” Wang Jie sat beside Gao Ming. “You don’t really think killing 100 people can clear the game, right?”
“Perhaps that is the graduation qualification for the ghosts.” Gao Ming leaned back in the chair. “Du Bai and I attended a class earlier. You would be fine if you followed the rules. The ghosts had to utilise the rules to harm others as well. They couldn’t use violence.”
“Can we use violence on the ghosts?” Wang Jie’s eyes shine with viciousness.
“I believe so.” Gao Ming looked through the chatgroup. “Zuo Bo in the patient’s outfit killed Zuo Bo at school. Therefore, murder is allowed.” “Are you two crazy? If ghosts were so easily killed, were they still ghosts?” Du Bai didn’t want to participate in this conversation. He felt like the two were not normal.
“I was just asking.” Wang Jie smiled. “It’s unrealistic to collect the merits. You get one merit from one class. Do you have confidence you can survive 100 classes?”
“There have to be other ways to escape the school.” Gao Ming studied the wooden grain on the table. He hadn’t died in Han De Private Academy, so he had no related memory. “Graduation didn’t mean leaving. Sometimes, living is worse than dying.”
For Gao Ming, if he were killed, he would only return to the tunnel. However, if his freedom were taken away, then he’d be trapped forever. He wasn’t afraid of death, but he was afraid of the inability to die.
The students exchanged info and discussed how to escape. Qian Junran, Yuan Hui and Liu Yi wanted everyone to work together and mobilise as their bedroom units.
“Wang Jie, Gao Ming, your Room 1314 will handle the math building. After the sky darkens, we’ll return to the hostel…” Before Qian Junran finished, Wang Jie interrupted impatiently, “The math building is the most dangerous. If you want, you can go there yourself. Don’t drag us with you.” “I can go with you. Someone has to do this, right?” Qian Junrai said generously. “It’s for everyone’s benefit.”
“Don’t act high and mighty.” Wang Jie stood up. “I know you like Liu Yi, but she is impressed by Gao Ming. That’s why you’re targeting us.”“Don’t spout nonsense.” Qian Junran’s face chilled.
“Do you know why Liu Yi cares more about Gao Ming? Because he’s the only psychiatrist. He understands that ghosts come from the twisted human hearts.” Wang Jie didn’t hold back. “Stop playing tricks. If we want to kill you, you won’t survive more than three days.”
Qian Junran was stunned. The third-generation young master knew many things. He thought back to what Yuan Hui said and the gossip he heard. He suspected Wang Jie was the crazed murderer.
“I’m sure we’re all joking.” Xi San became the peacemaker. “The math building is too dangerous. I suggest we go there in rotation.”
“Qian Junran, your power and influence mean nothing here.” Wang Jie gave Xi San and Qian Junran zero face. “Perhaps ghosts have already mixed into the hall. How can you tell everyone here is human?”
“Wang Jie, what are you talking about?”
“We are already coming after each other before we even start? What’s your goal?”
The students didn’t like Wang Jie and Wang Jie didn’t trust anyone outside his bedroom. “Let’s go. Let them play this on their own.”
Wang Jie led everyone from Room 1314 to the entrance. Gao Ming sent a message to Liu Yi and set up a private code between the two of them.
Liu Yi would stay with the crowd. Someone would have been swapped already. She would collect info provided by humans and ghosts. She would also observe the male student with a bandaged face. The man had no name and no face. However, he knew everything about everyone else.
Gao Ming would do his own investigation. Later, he could compare notes with Liu Yi.
“What a waste of time.” Wang Jie took out a cigarette. Due to the dampness, he failed to light the cigarette. Out of anger, he stomped on the smoke.
“Don’t waste your time with them.” Xi San tried to smooth things over. “Wang Jie and I went around the school. This place is huge. There is a gym, activity building and lab building. Each building is only open for a specific time period. The school will conduct activities as well. And the winners can win a lot of merits.”
“Ghosts will participate in those activities too. Or the activities are meant for ghosts from the start.” Wang Jie took a deep breath to calm down. “Gao Ming, what do you plan to do next? Gather the merits?”
“You are oversimplifying things.” Gao Ming had experienced many anomalies. “We’re now in a ghost’s school. Don’t think about escaping. Focus on surviving to the next day. The three of you can move together. I’ll go experience the other classes. I’ll see you at the hostel tonight.”
Gao Ming let Du Bai and executed his plan. The rules at school were decided by ghosts. If they followed the rules, they could only live in fear. To change this situation, they had to be the new rule-makers.
“This school is like a large horror game. It’s much more complicated than the Si Sui Apartment. I wonder what kind of role Situ An plays here.”
He waited outside the math building for an hour. Then, a student who crossed the rules was led out. He looked less than 20 years old. He kept pleading with the students around him. Gao Ming followed them silently. The student was led to the office building. Compared to the other buildings, the office building was the most eerie. The dark corridors appeared endless. Strange sounds came from the offices. They sounded like crying or whispering. The student disappeared after he was led into the building. Gao Ming had no idea which room he was kept.
“Student…” A voice suddenly appeared behind Gao Ming. He slowly turned around with his hand inside his pocket. His finger was on the death portrait.
“Are you here to deliver your homework too?” A girl silently materialised behind Gao Ming. Her eyes were sewn shut. Her hair was shaved in spots. People wrote horrible messages on her face. The girl was small and carried a thick stack of books in her arms.
“I just delivered my homework. I was just leaving.” Gao Ming couldn’t tell if she was alive or not.
“Then, can you help me?” The girl took a step forward and almost bumped into Gao Ming. She raised her head. “I have a special homework but I don’t know how to turn it in. Can you come with me?”
Gao Ming didn’t walk away. He stared at the girl’s scary face. “Your homework is not me, right?”
