In the middle of the massive construction site, a few men were gathered, but one young man was at the centre of the group talking on the phone while smiling amusingly. The construction was massive as it symbolized hope for the most powerful country in the world, the USA.
One World Trade Center, which had just laid its foundation, would need a long time to complete, but that was necessary when one tried to create something that symbolized freedom.
The young man walked back and forth while talking but abruptly stopped when he heard what the person over the phone asked.
" Can you prove it? What benefit is it to you?"
" Answer the phone, Mr Mason, answer the phone." The young man replied as he hung up the call.
" Is everything done?" He moved his face toward one of his men.
" Yes, young master." The old man replied he was his personal butler.
" Young master, I feel-" he had been with his master since he was born and practically raised him, which was why he didn't want him going this path. His master was a kind soul, but the exterior forces corrupted him along the way.
"This will be the highest point in New York in a few years. You could look at every street and every dark corner of this city through this glass house and admire their perseverance." The young man knew what he was trying to tell him about, but what he was doing was necessary.
" Yes, master."
" I am not trying to bore you to death, but I sometimes wonder why are they trying so hard? Is it for survival? To just exist and die out while nobody cares? Isn't it pointless?" He paused for a second.
" Why don't they just...don't exist. Is it that hard to roll over and die than live this miserable life?"
" Young master, they are essential, a necessary tool so that people like you will have something to govern. A king needs his subjects when he dreams about his empire and young master; you would soon inherit that title."
The old man was a firm believer in their religion. Just like his master, he had been brought up in this life to serve this family; it was an age-old tradition. Even if his master was evil, he had sworn to protect him.
" You are right." The young man nodded.
" Which is why what you are doing is dangerous! Going up against Samuel Rothschild just before your coronation? It may ruin your favour with the elders." The old man said with some urgency.
" Rothschilds, that hateful family. They had been a thorn in our path for decades now! Why can't we just annihilate them?" The young man was furious as soon as he heard the name.
" We can't; if we reveal our presence unnecessarily, it will expose our influence. You have to remember our families' teachings; we don't exist. , Besides, they are very powerful, which is why we have to act from the shadows." They conversed with millions of children; the old man knew his master resented Rothschild.
" Powerful? They could barely hold on if we hit them with full force. Don't forget we have six families behind us."
"What after that? Our existence would be known through the world, and that would be devastating for our cause..... young master, please, stop this foolish errand." The old man urged him to reconsider.
" Foolish? You think I am a fool!"
ƥαṇdαsηθνε|·ƈθm " I am terribly sorry to speak out of line! I will accept any punishment!" The old man knelt down with his head on the ground without hesitation. He did blasphemy and needed to be taught a lesson for it.
The young man casually strolled toward him to place his foot on his head; he didn't press hard, but the dirt and gravel-ridden sole left a dozen scratches on his bald head.
" Stand up."
" Thank you for the mercy." The old man said with a genuine smile. He knew his master favoured him heavily regarding punishments, as he was the only one who seemed to receive the lighter ones.
" Even if we are synonymous with the shadows, that doesn't exclude the fact that the Rothschilds are gaining ground fast. Coincidently we have an excellent opportunity on our hands." The young man was indifferent toward most things, but somehow, Samuel caught his interest.
" That may be true, but this Samuel fellow seems unstoppable; I have read about him and could tell he is a genius. So incredible, in fact, that he is seemingly building a second 'Rothschild' empire on his own. Can't you at least inform the family head?" The old man asked.
" Grandfather? He would immediately object to it. It's all about power and control for him, but I know he is just a coward. Letting these fools run free is akin to a disaster! I must fix it for him, just like I am fixing this world." The young man was adamant when he said it.
It might sound preposterous if other's heard it, but everyone presents there knew what kind of background this person had. If they wanted to, they could topple any government, organisation, or religion on the planet!
" But what you are doing...will it work? I mean, he would be out within a few hours with his influence." The old man asked.
" It's about perspective; he might avoid jail time, but what about his reputation? What about his affiliation and contacts? Mason will do as I tell him to him. Being guilty or not is not our agenda; tarnishing his reputation is a better choice."
" That... could work. As expected of young master's plan!" The old man was beginning to see the full picture. He debated heavily whether he should report to the family about his master's actions, but if it worked and he didn't get back to them, everything would be fine.
" We are done here. Keep me updated on every development; I want this done before my Japan trip. The real game will start then." He started walking back to his car.
This was only the prelude to what was next to come for Samuel's worries. The enemy was visible and easy to beat compared to these dark forces that were beginning to move against him.
