The two siblings soon reached their home.
The first thing Mia did after getting home was to go and check the kitchen. After looking around the entire place, she was surprised to see that there was not a single spec of dust in the entire place.
"What did you eat while I was gone?" She asked with narrowed eyes as she stared at her brother.
"I ate instant ramen." He replied while examining a plate with sudden curiosity.
"You know that's not good for your health," Mia said with a sigh as she put the grocery items on the table. She then walked to the door of the kitchen and pulled down a green apron hanging on one of the hooks.
"Food will be ready soon." She said with a small smile and got to work. Zack on the other hand went near the place where another apron hung and pulled it down.
"I can cut the vegetable." He said as Mia passed him a few vegetables and a cutting board.
While handling the knife, the two siblings quietly worked. After an hour, their dinner was ready.
"It feels weird right?" Zack asked while they started eating. The two of them were sitting on the dining table which usually had four people but two of them were no longer in the world.
"It feels kind of empty," Mia replied while putting her fork down. "Did you go to their room ever since that incident?"
Both of them placed their hands on the door and slowly turned it open. As the door opened up, they saw their parents room the way they had left it.
Clothes were spilled everywhere and dust had settled upon the bedsheets. It hadn't been long since this had happened but they could still tell how empty the place looked.
"Shall we go inside?" Zack asked as Mia nodded. Together, they stepped inside their parents room.
"It's weird how you had just seen a person a few hours ago just to realize that you will never see them again," Mia muttered as the two of them looked around the room.
"Their bodies are still at the forensics department. I got a letter from the bureau saying that we can come and take the body anytime we want."
"So this means that they are either waiting for our permission to salvage the organs or bury them."
"What do you think would be better sis? I was thinking that their organs should be used to help other humans."
Because of the high technology, human organs could be preserved up to a month after death. If you had an organ donator card, you could give all of your major organs like kidney, heart, etc. up for transplant.
But if you had a family and they wanted to bury you or cremate you, the bureau would wait for a week.
"I think that's good too. In this way, we wouldn't have to see their dead bodies and another person could live for a little longer." Mia replied as she turned to look into Zack's eyes.
"I will write the letter to the bureau before I sleep. So for now, good night brother." She replied with a smile and went to her room.
Zack looked at his parents' room for a few more minutes before he too went back to his room. The first thing Zack did after returning was to open the forums to see the current posts.
And many of them were surprising.
[ Who are Lin Fan, Elyon, and WolfHeart ]
[ A dive into Lin Fan's past ]
[ WolfHeart's sudden leveling up. Is she a beta tester alongside Lin Fan and Elyon? ]
The topics of discussion made Zack want to laugh out loud. As he scrolled through the posts, he was chuckling in no time.
People claimed that he was a beta tester, a hacker, someone secretly backed by one of the four companies and the theories only got wilder the more he scrolled.
After a while, he decided that he had enough laughter for a day and laid on his bed.
"Link start." He said as the VR glasses took him inside Hikari.
'She isn't here.' He thought as he appeared inside the mini-boss fight stage to see that WolfHeart still wasn't online.
[ Hey, when are you going to come online? ]
The smartwatch provided alongside the VR glasses could be synced with your real-time phone or phone watch. So any notifications or in-game messages would directly come to you in real life.
And sure enough, WolfHeart replied.
[ If you are in-game right now, I am coming as well. ]
[ Sure, I will wait for you. ] He replied and waited for her to appear.
While waiting, Zack randomly opened the rankings and his eyes felt as though they would come out of their sockets.
[ #1 Lin Fan: Level 13
#2 Elyon: Level 12
#3 WolfHeart: Level 10
#4 Ninja: Level 8
#5 Lazy Panda: Level 7 ]
'How did he manage to climb up the rankings so fast?' But that's when another thought appeared in Zack's mind.
He accessed the forum while being in the game and the forum panel opened up in front of him. After using Elyon as a search keyword, Zack scrolled through the articles until he found the ones he wanted.
"So he is a player killer blessed by the god of destruction's blessings." The reason behind Elyon's success was something that any other player on the dark side could have gotten.
The god of destruction's blessings allowed one to gain exp by killing other people and if you had good resources and were strong enough, you could easily to do it.
But the higher level of a player you killed, the more exp you would gain. Looking at the top ten, Zack realized that the players ranked #7, 8, and 9 were different while the previous ones were no longer there.
'He is slowly attacking all those on the leaderboard.' Now that Zack knew this, he realized that reaching the center of the forest was even more important.
So the moment WolfHeart logged in, they set out on their journey again.
And while they did that, Elyon was steadily approaching another player, one that was in the top 5 rankings.
