Chapter 119: You Guys are Already Living Together?
“When did you buy it?” Yun Xiangxiang was shocked. “Why did you buy so many of them?”
“I just had Song Yao transfer the ownership this morning,” Song Mian answered. “You’ll have to stay at home after this since you’ll be training in etiquette. Your chef lives quite far away. You’ll have to go without breakfast should he get stuck in traffic or get involved in some incident.”
Yun Xiangxiang’s chef didn’t exactly pass in Song Mian’s eyes. He really wanted to switch him out for his own men if it weren’t for him wanting to give her some personal space. He was worried that she would feel trapped if everyone around Yun Xiangxiang were his own people if he did that.
“So you bought the unit downstairs for them?” She finally understood his well-intentioned move.
“I had Song Yao arrange everything on both floors. Ladies will live upstairs, while men will live downstairs. There will be a door installed near the lift. The keys will only be provided for the ladies upstairs.
Except for Ai Li and Song Qian, Yun Xiangxiang’s team members were living in dormitories provided by the company. It was quite far from where she lived.
“As for your unit, you can invite your parents over during the holidays,” Song Mian continued.
“So, that playroom of yours...” Yun Xiangxiang visited Song Mian’s house before.
She remembered that Song Qian said that he already had the house two months ago. He probably replanned and refurbished it back then.
His house was different from hers. There was no study there. There were five bedrooms. The gym downstairs wasn’t as big either. There was a store room and a playroom.
“It’s for your little brother,” Song Mian laughed.
Naturally, the interior designer he hired would be different from the one He Wei hired. The same space would look larger if it was planned by his designer. Every inch of space was fully utilized.
He used the most advanced materials and technology. He thought of the house here as his home, not just somewhere to stay in.
Yun Xiangxiang gazed at Song Mian. Her heart was filled with warmth. Her eyes stung. She flung herself into his embrace silently.
She used to think that courting her using money would be useless. The money tactic wouldn’t be effective by itself. What made it potent was the detail, love, and warmth put into it. That made it irresistible.
Song Mian didn’t mention anything about gifting the houses to her. Compared to the five hundred million he used to buy the jewelry, this was just breadcrumbs.
He was only helping her as her boyfriend. It would be quite cold and stubborn of her if she refused this again.
Yun Xiangxiang might be a proud person. However, she wasn’t so proud that she would be irrational.
“Are you free this afternoon?” Song Mian spoke first to sweep her melancholy away.
“En,” she replied softly. “I’ll be reading through the script and finishing my homework during that time.”
She finished a lot of homework yesterday, but there were still some left over. She needed to spare some time to familiarise herself with how those worked. The remaining time would be used on reading the script.
“Then finish it quickly. You’ll only have time tomorrow if you finish them,” Song Mian held Yun Xiangxiang’s hand and led her into his working room. It was also on the first floor.
It was a room with great daylighting. The view outside was panoramic. There was also thick greenery in the distance to serve as a great spot to rest their eyes on.
Song Mian also took his own laptop. Both of them sat side by side in their spots.
The room was peaceful. The afternoon sunlight showered upon them a thin layer of silk. Both were engrossed in their own work. There was no conversation, but there was an air of quiet sweetness everywhere.
Song Mian only said one sentence to Yun Xiangxiang after an hour. It was to remind her to relieve her fatigue.
“Why are you reading these books?” It was only three o’clock when she finished her homework. She turned her head aside and saw a book related to plant genetics resting in his hands.
There were also a lot of tabs related to plants on his screen. “Planning to change careers to become a biologist?” she teased.
Coincidentally, a video chat window popped up at this moment. Yun Xiangxiang found herself looking at Master Song through a screen.
Both of them were stunned. Master Song reacted first. “You guys are already living together?” was his first sentence.
Yun Xiangxiang felt awkward. “It’s not like that, Mr. Song. I’m just asking for his help on my homework,” she explained hastily.
“Ohohoh, I understand, I understand,” Master Song was saying that, but he was smiling cryptically at the same time.
Yun Xiangxiang felt that it would be hard for her to clarify anything now. It was fortunate that her clothes were neat. Or else Master Song’s misunderstanding would be even more severe.
She looked to Song Mian for help. He only pressed a key softly and cut the connection...
“Won’t this be bad...?” She whispered to him.
“It’s okay, he’s used to it.” He had just finished saying that before Yun Xiangxiang saw his phone’s screen light up.
Yun Xiangxiang’s first reaction was to think that that was Mr. Song calling, but the screen only showed a string of numbers.
“It’s my father,” Song Mian smiled and pressed on the speaker option.
Master Song’s furious voice boomed, “Brat! You unfilial son! You didn’t even come to visit me even though you have returned! I’ll let this slide considering that you’re working toward your happiness. You better remember that you’re the one who’s begging me. How dare you hang up on me? Do you really think that I need you to sustain me...?”
Master Song reproached indignantly without stopping before Song Mian said, “Father, I have turned on the speaker.”
Master Song: ...
Song Mian added another scathing remark without caring how Master Song was feeling, “You seem to have scared my girlfriend...”
Yun Xiangxiang was stunned. However, it was not because of shock, but of the subversion of image.
The last time she met Master Song, he was noble and elegant. A true gentlemen who seemed to be above mortal affairs. He was like a scholar who came from the ancient era. Master Song should have been a man of magnificence and splendor in Yun Xiangxiang’s mind.
But now...
Silence. Deathly silence.
Yun Xiangxiang, who had always thought of herself as someone with a high EQ and could handle matters without hurting anyone, was at a loss for words.
“Ouch. A headache coming up. It’s painful. I can’t talk too much now. Talk later,” Master Song finally caught an excuse and promptly hung up.
“Alright, finally some peace,” Song Mian hung up happily too.
Yun Xiangxiang giggled at Song Mian. She tried her best to start a conversation, “Why didn’t you jot Mr. Song down in your contacts?”
Song Mian opened his phone and handed it to her.
She took it and noticed that it was his contact history. There were no names. All of them were numbers.
However, there were only a little more than a dozen people in Song Mian’s contacts. She looked through them in detail. “Where’s mine?”
The corners of his lips curved. Song Mian took another phone out. “Yours is in here. It’s only you in there.”
To Yun Xiangxiang’s shock, this phone was identical to hers. Except for the color.
“Couple phone” was the first phrase that popped up in her mind.
Her face was suddenly getting hot. She gave Song Mian’s phone back to him before standing up then packed her things. “I finished my homework. Time to read the script now.”
He knew that his girlfriend was abashed, so Song Mian didn’t make the situation sticky for her and gave way to her immediately. He packed his things too. “I’ll make tea for you.”
Yun Xiangxiang nodded hurriedly before drowning herself in the script.
