Chapter 138: The God of Death and the God of Sleep
Chapter 138: The God of Death and the God of Sleep
“You kidnapped Thanatos, the God of death in the underworld?”
Chiron looked at the old friend in astonishment.
Finetin and Hercules in the back also both stared, looking up and down at this middle-aged man whose clothes were of good texture and looked full of learning.
Only Foppers looked immobile when he heard his name.
This middle-aged man was very famous in Greek mythology.
He was a descendant of Fellows, the founder of the city-state of Corinth, known for his wisdom and his ability to distinguish between the two.
The most sensational thing he had done in his life was to offend the King of Gods, Zeus and was sent by the King of Gods to capture the God of death, but with a mouth, the God of death was kidnapped.
After that, he even cheated Hades, the King of Underworld, and lived on earth until he died of old age.
After his death, he was imprisoned by the King of Underworld in Tartarus.
To push a heavy boulder down a very steep mountain every day, only to complete this task in order to be freed.
But whenever he was about to reach the top of the mountain, the stone would automatically roll down the mountain.
So he had to do this meaningless work repeatedly every day until eternity.
This was the punishment given by the gods to him for deceiving them with trickery.
It was a mockery that even though he had wisdom enough to deceive the gods, he could only keep doing this mechanical thing until he became numb.
The writer Albert Camus, who later used his story to create a book, The Myth of Sisyphus, made him even more famous.
But how come Thanatos is also a powerful divine Lord; will he really be kidnapped by a mortal man and tricks? The blond boy had doubts in his heart.
By this time, Sisyphus had already started to tell his story.
“Sage Chiron, you should know that my city-state, Corinth, has always been very short of water, and I have always had a headache because of it, and not long ago, I made a move that I regret a million times.”
Sisyphus said haggardly. He looked at Hercules next to Chiron and said: “This is your student of the son of Zeus, right?”
Chiron nodded.
Sisyphus said with a bitter smile, “You should know the character of Olympus, the King of Gods, who had relations with many goddesses and women on earth.
“River God is the god, who is in charge of water on land, and for this reason, I got selfish and used this as a deal to get him to get enough water for my city-state, but I also offended the King of Gods, Zeus, for this.”
“And then he sent the God of death to kill you?” Chiron speculated.
Sisyphus whispered: “In fact, Zeus’ son Hermes, the messenger of Gods who also served in underworld, with the God of death special relationship, so he asked the God of death to deal with me; after all, I am only a mortal.”
“And then you kidnapped death?” Hercules looked up and down at the king, who did not look strong and was full of surprise.
He did not look like any powerful demigod, nor did he look like a strong person who had cultivated his fighting spirit to the degree of star return.
Besides, even a star-returned existence could not have defeated the divine Lord son of night, Thanatos, and the master of death.
“Don’t look at me like that. Indeed, I don’t have that kind of ability, but I indeed tied up the God of death.” Sisyphus laughed bitterly.
With a memory, he took out a card from his pocket: “Some time ago, I once met a mysterious magician. He used a card called ‘tarot’ to divine my fate, saying that I was destined to become entangled with death and eventually fall into the deepest depths of death forever.”
“Then he gave me this tarot card numbered 0 and told me that if I met death, I could take it out.”
In the bright sunlight, he turned over the card with a black swirl on the back, revealing on the front an innocent young man in a colorful costume, holding a white rose in his left hand and a package tied with a scepter in his right hand, walking on the edge of a cliff with a small white dog beside him.
“It was this card, and when I opened it to death, death seemed to have lost the ability to think and was firmly bound with the rope left by my ancestor, fellows, the Zephyr.”
“Fool of tarot,” Foppers said, staring at the card in Sisyphus’s hand.
He suddenly remembered something.
The world where the ‘sun’ magic potion inside him originated from, the twenty-two paths of god, many of them corresponded to the tarot cards one by one, including the ‘fool’, which was known as the head of the tarot.
The fool of Sequence 0 could fool all things, whether it was the wisdom of humans or gods or rules or order.
He had pondered a question before.
Since the things in his treasure chest that originated from the game copy could all become exactly the same as the game set in this world?
Since things could exist, would those game copy worlds also truly exist on the other side of infinite time and space?
Suddenly, the blonde teenager’s eyes tightened up, gazed at Sisyphus, and asked: “The magician, who gave you this card, was he wearing a dark cloak and a translucent mask?”
“Huh, how do you know?” Sisyphus looked at him in surprise and added, “I was asking him what he was, and he just lightly smiled under that mask and clicked this card.”
“That’s really…” The blond teenager’s radiant eyes carried a deep profundity as he gazed at the ‘fool’ card, the corners of his mouth curled up in an arc.
“Finally caught the bottom of you!”
“Hey, Foppers, you just agreed to help him out with the kidnapping of the God of death. We are in danger of facing my father, who is the King of Gods this time.”
Hercules grinned widely and came up to the blond boy’s side.
The latter responded lightly: “If you’re afraid, you can go back now.”
“Who says I’m afraid I’m destined to become the greatest hero.” Hercules bulged his muscles and said.
There Finetin was looking at the Chiron who was walking in front, with beautiful cheeks puzzled: “Teacher, Foppers and the other side of the world are not the same.”
“Teacher, it’s not a problem for Foppers and Hercules to mess around. Why do you listen to Foppers like this? This time you have to face the real gods.”
Chiron looked at her kindly, took a deep look at the blond boy, and said firmly:
“Belief in Foppers, he is a son of light, with the will of the light.”
……
The group soon arrived in Corinth, the city-state of Sisyphus.
Sisyphus took them to his palace.
After circling several labyrinthine turns, they came to a dungeon.
“That’s where I keep the God of death.” Sisyphus pointed out.
Several people looked over.
They saw the dark dungeon, a long green rope; deadly tied to a full head of short white hair, the face was full of gloomy death of the young figure.
“He is the God of death?” Hercules was most excited; he was going to rush over to take a look.
At this time, the corner of the blond boy’s eyes suddenly raised two fiery rays.
When Chiron and the others changed their expressions, a swift figure suddenly appeared in the dark dungeon.
“Golden-haired, what are you; you can actually see my trail!” The man roared furiously, and a majestic divine power emanated from his body, which blasted and enveloped Finetin and the others.
Finetin and Sisyphus instantly swayed on their feet and were about to fall crooked to the ground.
“The power of sleep, you are the brother of Thanatos, Hypnos, the God of sleep!” Chiron cried, and besides Foppers, only he and Hercules, with strong bodies and deep fighting spirits, were still barely awake.
But also shaking, about to sleep.
A sun-like brilliant golden light suddenly bloomed in the dungeon.
The blonde teenager was bathed in a sun-like blazing light, shining the dark dungeon as bright as day.
This glow seemed to contain the power of ‘purification’ blessing’. After being illuminated, Chiron, Finetin, and others were all awake at once.
Under their astonished eyes, the blond boy was shrouded in the brilliance of the sun.
Then a blazing force coalesced and turned into a long golden rope, tying the sleeping God firmly and throwing him into the dungeon next to the God of death with short white hair.
At this time, Thanatos, the God of death, woke up in a daze, saw the long face of his brother Hypnos, and asked in confusion, “Hypnos, why are you here?”
