Godlike Player in a Game-Like World

Chapter 321 Fighting The Region Boss (Part 4)

Thus, despite his own smug arrogance, Raydon had enough experience to exercise caution when facing this potentially dangerous enemy.

''Hey, you ugly bastard, I'm right here waiting. Still not planning to strike?'' He provocatively taunted the boss, all the while maintaining his defensive posture.

Because he is still unaware of the true strength of the boss, it would not have made much sense for him to launch the first attack, unless it was a sneak attack. Because of this, he decided that the best way to evaluate the strength of the boss was to first take a defensive stance.

Yet, as the boss continued to stare at him unresponsively, unperturbed by his words, Raydon realized provoking it wouldn't be as simple as he had hoped.

"Don't tell me, are you incapable of understanding my words? I assumed that everyone in this universe shared a common language. Or perhaps you're just a mindless creature, too dim-witted to grasp ordinary spoken language?" Raydon asked.

However, this time, it is interesting to note that his words were not intended to provoke the boss in any way; rather, they were said because he was genuinely surprised.

Even though it was only on a fundamental level, he was able to detect a hint of intelligence in the eyes of the region boss as he looked into those brownish eyes.

And it was surprising, considering Raydon's previous encounters, where he had come across individuals who all communicated in the same language. This included the world in which he was created and even the golden skeleton from his first inheritance.

"Could it be that mobs have their own distinct language? Well, if you can't understand my words, let me speak a language you can comprehend," he said this before spitting on the ground and flashing a sly smile at the boss.

"I spat disrespectfully on your property. What are you going to do now? Still not angry? ''

In the meantime, the battle maids watched in amazement as Raydon attempted to communicate with the peculiar creature. They compared his actions to those of an inquisitive human who had recently discovered the existence of aliens and was attempting to communicate with them using their limited intelligence.

"Mell, I must admit, I'm starting to question your claims," Feline remarked, raising an eyebrow.

Despite initially believing Mell's words to some extent, witnessing Raydon's nonsensical behavior and hearing his self-talk with a serious expression shattered any remaining belief she had.

"Well, just watch. I'm certain he has a battle strategy in mind," Mell responded, her confidence wavering momentarily in light of Raydon's serious yet absurd demeanor.

They had all convinced themselves that an epic battle was about to take place in front of them, and they were waiting with incredible anticipation for it to begin. But what were they actually seeing now?

With their high expectations of an epic battle gradually fading, the battle maids watched with growing skepticism, while Raydon's patience wore thin.

"Damn it! Stop behaving like an NPC and attack me already!" Raydon exclaimed, his frustration mounting as he concluded that the boss lacked the intelligence he had initially attributed to it.

Given the short amount of time remaining in the match, Raydon came to the conclusion that he could not afford to waste any more time. As a result, he made the decision to take a risk and launch the first attack on his own. Transitioning from a defensive to an offensive stance, he prepared to make his move.

And just as he was about to take the first step, the long-awaited attack from the Region boss at last arrived. Moving with astonishing speed, the boss lunged at Raydon like a shadow, thrusting its razor-sharp arm toward his throat.

The boss, akin to a seasoned warrior, seized the minuscule opening in Raydon's defenses with impeccable timing. Its attack possessed the strength and velocity to vanquish any E-Rank item holder in a single devastating blow.

Fortunately, Raydon was not your typical item holder because he was a skilled gamer who possessed player instincts.

Utilizing his gaming experience, he swiftly shifted back into a defensive stance, relying on his reflexes to close the temporary gap he had created.

Then, with a nimble leap backward, he managed to evade the approaching obsidian blade aimed at his neck, simultaneously parrying it with the dagger in his left hand.

*Clang*

As soon as Raydon landed a few steps away from the region boss, he instinctively took a few more steps backward in order to maintain a safe distance between them. It did not take him long to get back into his perfect defensive stance, and a smug grin spread across his face as he said.

"Heh, I knew you weren't that stupid after all."

To his astonishment, the region boss exhibited a level of talent that even Raydon had not anticipated, seizing the opportunity he had momentarily presented with only milliseconds to spare. It was a testament to the boss's prowess and strategic thinking.

However, what truly captivated and thrilled Raydon was not just the boss's fighting ability but also its extraordinary speed. The creature moved with a swiftness that surpassed his expectations, leaving him both impressed and eager to test his own agility and reflexes against such a formidable enemy.

But Raydon was not the only one who seemed surprised.

''W-What was that? ''

In the blink of an eye, the region boss launched an unexpected and lightning-fast attack, leaving Nysora frozen in her tracks before she could even take her second step.

As everyone else, including Mell, braced themselves for the sight of Raydon's head being severed from his body, they were astounded to witness him flawlessly evade the seemingly impossible-to-dodge attack. His movements were executed with such incredible swiftness that they struggled to even track them with their eyes, their gazes unable to keep up with his fast response.

''He is really so fast! '' Arora exclaimed, her mouth agape in awe.

It did not come as a surprise to her that the Region boss was fast; however, the fact that Raydon was able to keep up with its rapid pace did shock her.

''It's not just his speed. Did you see his reaction time and movements?'' Mell interjected, her excitement palpable.

While others were still grasping the significance of the situation, Mell was acutely aware of what she had just witnessed.

After what felt like an eternity, the player instinct technique, which she had become aware of some time ago, manifested itself once more before her very eyes.
