The sensation of transitioning between the physical world and whatever place the Library was at was still slightly disorienting to him. Even with all the powers he gained and the training he underwent.
Thankfully he was now quite used to it. And he was getting more and more used to the feeling with each visit to the Nexus of the worlds.
But even then…
"No matter how I look at it, this place always astounds me."
He was only in the so-called Bronze section of this place. The lowest possible place of access. Just imagining how big the other sections of the Library could be made him feel how small and insignificant he truly was.
He looked at his surroundings, once his dizziness settled away, before slowly realizing something.
"Huh…? Akasha?"
There was no one next to him this time around.
'Where could she be?'
The beautiful Librarian that proclaimed herself to be The Fool was not present this time. He was quite surprised at first due to her absence. But then, he realized that just because she had been present the first two times he entered the Library did not mean that she would always be there for him.
'I guess she should be gaining knowledge on the higher floors or something.'
He nodded to himself after coming to that realization and began to walk in the Bronze section of the never-ending Library, passing by the rows and rows of books that seemed to have no end to them even in this insignificant low section of this heavenly place.
'Well, now what should I do first?'
This was quite the complication that he had suddenly fallen into…
He knew that Akasha's wisdom and knowledge should be close to unparalleled in this place. Having a discussion with her would be incredibly useful and if she was willing to help him out, then it would help him avoid some possible mistakes along the road.
He stopped at a section of the Library that seemed to pertain to magical studies.
'Witches and Warlocks can manipulate physical phenomena through the contract with their Gods and Spirits.'
The magic that one of the people he killed recently used was quite intriguing to him. If he could create a Prana shield, it could be very useful to him in the future.
"Ah…"
He was about to take a book out of the thick and infinitely long bookshelf when he suddenly felt a presence behind him as a breath tickled his ears,
'How!?'
A shiver ran down his spine as he immediately jumped away from the shelf to put some distance between himself and whoever was present.
"Hi!"
When he finally turned back, what he saw greatly surprised him.
Where he had been standing previously was a young and delicate woman who was smiling at him while waving her hand.
If she was compared to the Librarian, Akasha, the two women made a startling contrast to each other. Their features were quite similar and they could both be considered to be unparalleled beauties and, in fact, nearly sisters if looked closely. But if one was to be compared to the day, then the other was definitely the personification of night.
Clad in an entirely black robe that barely managed to hide her explosive figure, her brown skin, and dark eyes gave her an alluring presence as if she was a seductress whose simple words could make male and female alike fall in the throes of passion.
"Who are you?"
Adam frowned as he used his Eyes of Truth on reflex but he immediately found himself regretting that decision greatly…
『 Name: ???
Affiliation: ???
Alias: ???
Race: Primogenitor
Age: ???
Stats: ??? 』
He groaned out loud and immediately closed his eyes and moved his face away from her general direction. He felt like he had just received a shock to his very soul for daring to gaze at the woman in front of her. It was as though the person he had tried to gaze at was something or someone that should never be witnessed without the permission of said person. Just doing that would be the most cardinal sin since the beginning of time.
"Oh my. This was quite rude, you know? Trying to peep at a lady is a no-no, don't you know?"
The woman smiled and advanced toward him with graceful and hypnotic steps.
"Though, I am sorry for startling you like that. At least, be careful of who you are trying to look at when outside of Earth. If I wished for it, you would have lost your eyes right here and now."
She giggled alluringly as she delivered those words, "Then again, I guess for the son of Cain, this would not matter. Just one death and everything will be good as new, right?"
Adam opened his eyes wide at her words. He was about to speak but he forced himself to calm down.
Taking an action here without giving it a thought would give him no answer. Since the woman seemed to be showing a facade of politeness, then he would play along with her as she wishes.
"I apologize. As you said, I was startled by your presence and acted on reflex. My name is Adam Gospel. May I ask yours?"
"Oh my. How polite of you. Though, I must say, whoever named you really has a bad taste in names. Haha, Adam. What an accursed name that is to my ears."
The woman seemed to talk to herself as her smile grew rigid for an imperceptible instant. Clearly, the name Adam brought her no good memories.
She then sighed and gave a curtsey filled with allure and grace. Her heavy breast giggled softly and her position emphasized her cleavage clearly to the onlookers. Even though she was acting like a noblewoman, the aura she oozed would make even the greatest courtesan bow in defeat to her lasciviousness.
"I am Lilith. The one and only. I guess in a way, I am your step-grandmother. How fun. Don't you think, so, Adam~?"
Her tongue rolled as she mouthed the name, Adam. Her smile was sweet but Adam could see the edge that was ever present in her voice.
They said that in nature, the more colorful something was, the deadlier it could be and Adam was forced to admit that this perfectly described this woman. She was like a beautiful rose in a garden hiding its thorn or like the enchanting myriad-colored venomous snake of the legends.
Unfathomably dangerous and Unequally beautiful.
Adam had been prepared for many things after reentering this place.
But this…. This went beyond all belief and expectations he had of this place.
Lilith.
While in many versions, the first one created was Eve, created from the ribs of Adam after he was put to sleep, Lilith appeared in some versions of the Jews' scriptures.
She was created to serve Adam but she rebelled against the Divine Order and fled to the red sea while being chased by three angels who threatened to kill her should she not submit to her destiny.
In the Kabbalah, she was created alongside Samael who would later become Adam-Belial and they married. In that version, she received a divine curse that made it so that all her children would be stillborn. She ended up killing herself and received the power to kill the children of Adam.
In a third version and perhaps the most memorable one, she was supposed to be in reality the snake who ensnared Eve and made her eat the apple from the tree of wisdom and knowledge. She was also the one who incited Cain to kill Abel, broke the marriage of Adam and Eve, and used the semen of Adam to give birth to numerous children over 130 years. [1]
In the end, she became the first succubus and the first night demon. Giving birth to demons whose sole goal was to seduce men or women and bring them towards their destruction.
No matter which version was real, Adam knew that there was one thing that was always clear about this devilish woman.
Lilith's hatred and desire for revenge toward Prime Adam and his lineage [2] over all the grief she received in her life and even in death.
Even in the version where she was not linked to Prime Adam, mainly the Mesôpotamien ones, she was still a vicious demon who would seduce men and make sure to kill the babies in the stomach of their mothers.
Adam suddenly felt quite unsafe in this place.
Lilith had never directly attacked anyone in the myths. But at the end of the day, those myths were just humans' records. Their accuracy left much to be desired. But no matter what myth it was and no matter how unreliable they may be, all of them centered around one opinion.
She was the first and most dangerous woman in existence.
———
[1] In the last version. Basically, Adam stopped having a relationship with Eve after Cain killed Abel. So Adam masturbated for 130 years alone and Lilith used that to give birth to demons. Lilith is originally a Mesopotamian goddess related to the Wind. The three versions are more or less accurate but I cut many details to avoid this becoming a mythology lesson.
[2]: My mc is called Adam and there is Adam who is the father of Cain. Gotta make a difference.
(AN: Okay so. This is 84 chapters in. When you read my story imagine you are watching Lucifer or High School DxD or any other shows of the like. My goal is not to insult or degrade any religion and I will never do so. I am sure anyone who has read this far won't be bothered but I just want to add a warning even so. I remember a reader on Scribble hub once called me a worshipper of Lucifer because of all the religious connotations in Son of Hero King haha. I am Christian by the way and I believe in the existence of God.)
