Having woken up and taken care of the house that day, the next few days seemed to pass by in a flash for Adam with how busy he suddenly became with everything.
Before he knew it, it had already been three days since he fought against the Mercenaries with his shapeshifter friend Natasha.
One thing to note about was that he had still received no call from the police.
This was quite surprising for Adam. After all, while he wasn't necessarily a key witness, they should have still been quite curious about the serial murder case. Even though he refused to talk without the presence of a lawyer, he should have been called to the police station to give a statement, at the very least, about what he witnessed that night during his run-in with the serial killer.
In the end, he simply chalked it up to his luck or the work of Yui. He was, of course, more leaning towards Yui working on the background so that there were no troubles for him on the police's side. As for the LAPPD, the supernatural police task force, they showed no signs of calling him either.
During those few days, Adam had been slowly adapting to his new life after the mass killing he had enacted. He would sometimes have flashes of intense nightmares, but all things considered, his guilt was not constantly eating at him anymore.
The discussion he had with his mother, Cecilia, certainly helped him greatly and she would constantly tell him stories about her life as a hunter, making him understand how common death was in the supernatural world. So common that it was not unlike eating or sleeping. Death was a way of life for the Supernaturals.
Anyways, during those three days, the first thing he noticed was that the population of supernatural creatures in his university was quite higher than he would have ever imagined it to be. It seemed that around 5~10% of the student population was related to the supernatural side of the world.
The vast majority were humans who had opened their heart chakra. Adam always avoided them and made sure they would not notice his presence and status. He did not wish for needless complications after all.
Outside of hunter, he had even seen a witch and even many shapeshifters. Shapeshifters were in reality Eartly supernatural creatures with the largest populations. The most common type of them were terrestrial creatures like werewolves or werecats. But he had even seen a Mermaid-type shapeshifter once while using his powers of observation.
She was a beautiful Latina woman with hips to die for and from how she gave him her number with a coquettish smile trudging her lips, it seemed that he didn't leave her indifferent either.
From what Natasha had told him, mermaids weren't particularly powerful, but they all opened the Throat Chakra. This was why their voice was filled with hypnotic powers and said power was amplified while singing.
It seemed that most of the greatest idols were related to the mermaids in one way or another.
Mermaids in the past were man-eaters. Both figuratively and literally. Nowadays they didn't sink ships as much, but they were still dangerous.
This knowledge made Adam hesitate greatly about any attempts to have sex with a mermaid. Dying because he was fucking one would be too shameful and didn't know what could happen if he somehow reincarnated in her stomach.
Of course, since that one was on the campus, it means she was not a man-eater. But…Was giving it a try really worth it? Adam had never been so tormented by a question.
Sexy human-eating mermaids aside, he had briefly wondered why he could see no vampires among the supernatural creatures. However, he received the answer to that question when Natasha told him that ever since the rumors that Jack the Ripper was a vampire started to spread, the other vampires immediately started laying low to avoid the heat.
In the first place, most vampires could not walk out under the sun without burning to death. Only true Daywalkers were exempt from this rule.
So what did Adam do during those three days?
His program was pretty simple. Each hour was carefully planned for maximum efficiency and even sleep was reduced to merely two hours. Thanks to his body, he was able to muscle through it without having many problems. Though he could feel that he had reached his limits.
Wake up at 5 am, train with Cecilia, or alone by running, or just have a simple spar session with her.
Adam thought that with his power [The World], he would be able to fight at least on equal footing with her, but he realized fast that reality was full of disappointment.
No matter how he attacked, even if he used his telekinesis, he was simply unable to even touch her.
It was only after becoming stronger that he understood just how much stronger Cecilia was.
After his morning routine, he would shower and then leave his home for the campus where he would use his split mind in order to study and follow the class at the same time or he would go to the library to have a calm mind and atmosphere for himself and study alone.
Psychology was a fascinating subject and he thought that it would be quite useful to pick it up. He surmised that it could even help in his Law career.
While doing this, he continuously used the [Eyes of Truth] to increase his mastery of the skill.
Sometimes Sae would sneak into the corner he was occupying and study with him or sometimes he would spend some time with Natasha and learn more about the supernatural world from her.
Finally, during the night he would still study on one side and meditate while moving different objects with his second mind. He would do so until 2 o 3 am in the morning then sleep and the cycle would begin anew for another gruesome day.
It was extremely busy, but rather than feeling tired, Adam had to admit that he felt quite good instead.
His growth was slow. But he was ready for that. It was only three days after all. Expecting another explosive growth would be far too greedy of him.
But the more he grew, as slow as it was, the more determined he became to grow even stronger.
The one thing worth noting from all of this was that he was absorbing knowledge at an extremely fast rate thanks to the synergy of his three skills.
[Accelerated Perception]
[Parallel Thinking]
And finally,
[Eidetic Memory]
This was the memory skill he ended up buying by using his stockpile of Karma.
When Genesis sent him the list, he had seen many interesting skills related to memory. But most of them seemed like pitfalls.
For example, the skill—
[Hyperthymesia]
It was a B-rank skill. Higher ranked than the [Eidetic Memory] skill he bought in the end but for someone like him destined to live very long, it was simply a trap.
The skill had two defining characteristics — Spending an excessive amount of time thinking about one's past and then displaying an extraordinary ability to recall specific events from one's past.
It was a condition that lead people to be able to remember an abnormally large number of their life experiences in vivid detail.
In a way, by having this skill, Adam would basically be able to see past events in a replay-like video in his mind and even in a third perspective when paired with his unique ability — [The World]...
It was great. But what about in ten years, or even longer?
Adam finally settled for [Eidetic Memory] for one simple reason. The greatest drawback of this skill was possible death by brain hemorrhage after absorbing too much information too fast.
For anyone else, this would be pretty damning. But for him?
Thanks to his condition, he was able to use this skill to its full potential. Even when he did die, the biggest problem for him would be to simply make sure to not stain the books he borrowed with blood.
Still, Adam could now proudly say that he had studied to death — literally. After buying the skill, he only had 60 Karma left, but it was still worth it. From now on, he didn't think he would need any more skills in the immediate future and he could focus on saving Karma to open his third chakra pathway— The Throat Chakra.
He was slowly building up the base he would need for his next visit to the Nexus – The Library of Akasha.
Tomorrow, he will start searching for the vampire.
But his mother had been clear. Vampires basically stood at the peak when it came to Earthly Supernatural creatures.
An average vampire would be stronger than an average shapeshifter or dwarf.
Going against such a monster without any preparation would be simply too foolish.
This was why— Tonight, he was going to enter the Library.
It would be his third visit to the domain that changed everything for him.

(AN: Soon I will give a more or less complete list of the Earthly Supernatural creatures created by Primogenitor. Shapeshifters are the most diverse. But I think I already named some.
Vampire, Shapeshifter, Dwarves, Elves/Drow.
Adam's race isn't defined because he is the first. He is the one who will name his race after he discovers more about it.
This chapter is the start of a new Volume called. An Eye for an eye or simply, Talion. This will be the longest volume and the last Volume of Book 1. Book 2 focuses will be more on Adam working as a Gigolo and his different way to gain money while growing up as a criminal in the Mafia/Triad/Yakuza. Of course, the hunter side won't vanish but be ready for the increase in smut chapters.)
