[1000 PSs chapter bonus]

Sylas bolted, practically leaving a streak of black in his wake.

His body seemed to instinctively react. He leaned forward, using his tail as a balance as he accelerated more and more.

He pulled on <Madness Control> and his newly minted Bronze Mastery Madness Comprehension. With both working in tandem, he not only quickly grasped the best ways to use this new body, but his running efficiency reached a new realm in an instant.

In not even half a second, he hit his top Speed.

The feeling of 123 Speed whipped against his scales, gliding off.

With his tail as a balance, he was several times more aerodynamic.

He didn't worry about anything else. Just move faster, faster, faster…

His mind was its own clock. He counted down the remainder of his 30 seconds, feeling that the time wasn't enough, but there was nothing else he could do about it.

To his back, Sylas could already feel that there were several figures rushing after him. Only one of them was truly a threat. However, Sylas didn't turn back to find out who it was. His mind was entirely focused on increasing his Speed. If he turned back, his Efficiency would plummet and he would waste precious seconds.

Then, he saw what he was looking for in the distance. His slit eyes flickered.

It was a military jeep located outside the range of the portal. He knew that Joel, Mordicai, and Linzie had to have come here with some sort of transportation, and he had correctly deduced that the reason they were walking in from the distance was because they didn't want it to be destroyed by the Aether as all technology seemed to be.

However, it was still a gamble. That was because he had no idea what the vehicle would be; it might very well be one he couldn't drive. And even though he was lucky that this turned out to be a military jeep, would there be a key?

Even from 200 meters away, Sylas knew that this jeep wasn't on, which means the likelihood that the key was in the ignition was low.

Could he hot-wire it? He wasn't sure. He had only seen Bloom do it once before, and he had no idea how to do it himself other than copying and pasting what he had seen and hoping for the best.

His gaze sharpened as an arrow entered his visualization range.

With a stomp, he slid to the side.

He didn't have much time to figure this out, but he had an idea he got courtesy of the professor.

The system could be used on things that weren't of the Aether Plane.

In which case…

<Basic Scouting>.

Almost instantly, Sylas' mind was flooded with information about the military jeep. It was so detailed that it felt like a flashbang had gone off in his head.

He still had Madness activated, so <Basic Scouting> was displaying far more prowess than it normally would, and in an instant, Sylas' mind had been downloaded with more information than even a veteran mechanic would have.

BANG!

Sylas leapt into the air. He soared over ten meters high, crashing down and through the front windshield. He didn't waste any time at all. Going around and using the door would take too long.

He broke the back of the front seat, forcing it to push back far more than it was ready. At the same time, he had conveniently made room for his long, black-scaled tail.

With a twist of his waist, he slid into the broken chair and shattered the bottom panel of the wheel box.

From start to finish, he didn't even look up. His hands moved in a blur, and when he sensed that another arrow was coming even at the expense of the jeep, his telekinesis reached out and ripped apart the Skill leading it. Then, he rotated it in the air, sending it back toward the archer with even faster Speed.

The engine turned over and Sylas slammed the gas, forcing the jeep into reverse.

For the first time since he began his escape, he looked up.

---

[Linzie Han]

[Level: 11]

---

His gaze narrowed as the car continued to accelerate backward. Level 11 or not, she was still no match for the Speed of a car.

However, Sylas didn't take his eyes off of her, nor did he turn the car around. He continued to drive in reverse, relying on his visualization to show him what was to his back rather than taking his gaze off of her.It took three whole seconds for Linzie's expression to change. Realizing that she was about to lose her opportunity, she took action, a javelin appearing in her hand as all of her momentum came to a stop with a single stomp.

The ground shook and with his newly sharpened gaze, Sylas could see the muscles in her plant leg practically double in size, veins bulging across it.

BANG!

The javelin shot out of her hand like a cannon. A violent ripple of Wind Aether surged and the sound made Sylas' heart shudder. He didn't have the time to realize that it wasn't that it broke the sound barrier, but was instead an illusion Linzie had formed on purpose.

A harsh whistling filled the air and Sylas' hair stood on end.

Sylas' hands shifted, slamming the brakes and pulling the wheel hard. He felt that there was no time or possibility to swerve out of the way of this attack, but he did this purely so he could stand while using his tail to press on the gas.

He circulated Basic Aetherflow to his greatest abilities and unleashed a roar that sounded more beast than man.

In that moment, his aura completely changed, a violent green swirl appearing around him.

If he pushed as hard as he wanted to, he would shatter the bottom of the jeep and his getaway vehicle would be ruined. That meant that he had to approach this with his Efficiency hitting near rock bottom.

He gathered up his telekinesis and focused on his fist, doing everything but driving his power through his legs.

Then, he pushed out, and the world seemed to be enveloped by a fist of illusory green.

Chapter 193 Choice

[1500 PSs chapter bonus]

Linzie's gaze narrowed when she saw the fist. It was so powerful that she couldn't help but wonder how strong it would be if Sylas was on solid ground instead.

Normally, when Sylas used normal Aetherflow without activating the Gene itself, his telekinesis-fueled fists became an average of his Physical and telekinesis, plus a small boost based on the skill. Because his skill was still lacking, this boost was only 5% or so.

However, when Basic Aetherflow was used, the boost wasn't so simple.

In a state where his telekinesis could exhibit 195 Strength, and his Physical was 139, it felt like a clap of thunder had erupted so close to the ground.

BANG!

Fist and javelin met.

But Sylas realized immediately that his own was crumbling. The javelin spun through it, its power beyond Sylas' expectations.

No, it wasn't just that it was so much more powerful, it was a difference in strength concentration. His Physical was spread over an entire fist, and the javelin focused everything into a single blade.

However…

There was just one javelin.

Sylas erupted with three more fists as quickly as he could.

The javelin was quickly closing the distance, but by this point, it had not only slowed considerably, but the car had hit a great speed.

Cars could move much faster forward than they could in reverse. The only reason Sylas hadn't reversed it before was because he knew that Linzie would definitely attack and he needed eyes on her when she did. If he waited for it to enter the range of his visualization first, it would likely be too late for him to do anything.

That was why Linzie was so surprised. She was definitely waiting for him to turn the car around before she attacked as well. But when she saw he wouldn't fall for it, she immediately attacked.

Unfortunately, this only ended up benefiting Sylas as it gave him more time to expand the distance, which in turn made her strike less effective.

Sylas stretched out a hand as the javelin entered range. A green glow coated his hand as he slammed downward.

A fist formed in the air and grabbed the javelin out of the air.

Without a word, Sylas tossed it into the back seat and turned around. He took a seat, pressing on the gas with his foot as he sped off into the distance.

---

Linzie slowly came to a stop, her brows furrowed.

They had lost the disk, Lone Star was now in turmoil, and they had even lost a Level 10. There was no way she'd be able to escape trouble for this, and the problem was even more pressing than just that alone.

'Was this planned? No, that's impossible.'

The sound of battle reached Linzie's ears and she realized that she couldn't just stand here any longer.

"You," she called out to one of the men following her to chase after Sylas, "report this. Don't miss a single detail."

After she said this, she bolted back to the battlefield, swearing things would turn out differently if she came across Sylas again.

She had no time to lament the loss of her javelin.

[Wind Reaper Javelin (FF)]

[Level: 10]

[Ability: Swallow (Wind)]

[This treasure swallows Wind Aether proportional to the Speed it travels at. For every 50 kpm, Piercing power increases by 100%]

[Durability: 16/20]

---

Sylas couldn't help but give the treasure a quick glance as he sped away. The result made his pupils constrict.

This javelin was incredibly light. Even to a person who hadn't completed the Trial, it was no heavier than maybe two or three baseballs.

Even if he was conservative, it was incredibly easy for Linzie to throw it at least 150 kilometers an hour.

Professional baseball players could hit that Speed with ease. Someone with Linzie's stats would surely be able to even if the javelin was just a bit heavier than a normal baseball.

Three times the Piercing power? What did that mean… wasn't that related to Pierce?

Meaning, Strength was 300% more efficient when Linzie used this javelin, even if he was being extremely conservative.

It was no wonder just one of his fists hadn't been able to stop it. If he hadn't been ready and sent out several more fists, he would have really been in trouble.

But that was also the weakness of this javelin as well. The moment it slowed down, its Effectiveness also plummeted.

Still, one could imagine the devastation if this treasure moved forward unhindered and landed before anything could be done about it.

Sylas stored it away.

Before he returned to the city, he got rid of the military jeep, leaving it behind without a care.

By now, his transformation had already faded. His body felt a bit weak as though he had just undergone a great workout, but other than that, his situation could have been much worse.

He looked toward his shoulder with a solemn expression. This was the same shoulder he had almost lost due to the frosty Aether that invaded his body.

Thankfully, his Constitution reached a high enough level after the transformation to dispel it forcefully. But that experience was unnerving…

And it was also the experience that forced him to make a decision.

[Enchanted Scribe]

[You can sense the Laws of the world and read its language. The runes call out to you. At first sight, your Will can reach out and pluck them from the jaws of the world, making them your power]

---

Sylas realized that this was the best choice for him. There was too much about this world he didn't understand. Being able to see through the uniqueness of things by using his telekinesis, understanding them like he had with the jeep and his … even if he ran into something in battle that caught him off guard, he wouldn't flail the same way.

It wasn't just this, but this was also the only one of the three options that was an immediate and direct boost to his power… Because with Enchanted Scribe, maybe he would be able to use the runes of the disk directly in battle.
