"Is everything ready?" Hunter spoke into the phone impatiently. He was asking Jessica if she had managed to arrange the visa for Hera yet. He heard her sigh from the other end and could tell she was rolling her eyes when she teased him for being so impatient. Hunter chuckled sheepishly when Jessica playfully scolded, asking him to stop dancing around her head.
"It takes at least three weeks for the authorities to approve everything, and you're asking me to arrange it within a day," Jessica said in an incredulous tone. "And you want me to keep it from your father, and Mathew isn't here. I need to be careful with everything, or your father will kill me," she complained in disapproval, but there was a hint of a smile in her tone.
Jessica knew if she messed up with Hunter's security, Mathew and Dave would have her head for dinner even before Alexander could kill her. She had to be extra cautious while pulling the strings at the embassy. She assured Hunter not to worry as she would manage everything in time. Thanking her, Hunter hung up.
'Day two passed and three more days to go..'
Hunter thought, smiling to himself.
They will fly to New York this Friday evening. With that thought lingering on his mind, he walked out of his room with his friends.
Hera was late for breakfast today. Hunter guessed she might have overslept. He finished eating and left before she could come to the dining hall. He messaged her to inform the same.
Hera finished her shower and just walked out of the bathroom when her phone lit up with Hunter's message notifications.
From Devil:
Good morning sleepy head. Get your cute ass out of bed already. You're late.
Hera scowled at the jab, but soon her mouth twisted in a humourous smile. She quickly typed her reply and sent it.
From Goddess:
Huh, how wrong you are, Mr Wrong.
She grinned at her choice of words.
From Goddess:
I just came out of the bathroom wrapped in a towel. I finished showering already.
Hunter's reply came faster than she expected after her second message.
From Devil:
Damn, why am I not in your room when you're clad just in a tiny towel?
Hera rolled her eyes and giggled. She could hear him whining through the message.
From Goddess:
I don't know, maybe because you're busy shoving the food down your throat without me.
Hera answered his question.
From Devil:
Or I can shove something else down your throat.
Hunter grinned, knowing Hera wouldn't guess the meaning behind his words. He was leaning against the newel post while his friends sat on the tread of the stairs. Samantha was keenly observing his reaction to the messages and knew he was texting Hera.
On the other side, as Hunter expected, Hera scowled at the message, not understanding the dirty meaning hidden behind his words.
Hera clicked a picture of her middle finger and attached it along with her message.
From Goddess:
I don't know what you meant, but I can guess it's supposed to be something dirty.
Hunter chuckled at her reply.
Michael peeked behind him, reading the messages. He scrunched up his face in disgust. "Ew, really, Bro? So early in the morning? Give a little break to your dirty mind," Michael said before glancing at Danny. "You should see what he just said to Hera," he said while Eric laughed, already knowing it was something Danny wouldn't want to discuss. Danny scowled and looked away, ignoring what Michael said.
Hunter shoved Michael away and flipped him off, moving to the other side.
A girl gang standing a few feet away from their group were giggling so loud. One of the girls from their group tried hard to catch Eric's attention for so long, and he finally noticed. He shot her a wink, and the girl blushed, tucking her stray hair behind her ear.
Bianca scowled in disapproval when Eric looked at Michael, silently signalling him to go with him. Michael was too pleased to join him. Bianca caught Michael's wrist and warned him through her eyes not to go.
However, Eric didn't give Michael a chance to pay attention to Bianca's death glare. He dragged him along with him and went to talk to the girls. Pursing her lips into a thin line, Bianca pulled Evelyn to her feet, forcing her to accompany her to the restroom. "At this rate, I can't even keep a record anymore. Don't they get tired of this shit?" Bianca muttered under her breath, increasing her pace.
Danny was busy messaging someone on his phone.
Meanwhile, Samantha scoffed at Hunter, who still had his eyes glued to his phone. Lost in his own world, he was grinning like an idiot. She walked to the bulletin board behind Hunter and checked the gossip column.
Hunter typed another message for Hera.
From Devil:
Here's the hint for you, Goddess. It has something to do with my gun and your pretty mouth.
He added a wink and sent the message.
Still wrapped in her towel, Hera fell on her back on the bed. Heat spread across her neck, travelling up her ears and reaching her cheeks. She blushed hard as she realised what he meant. Wetting her lips with her tongue, she swallowed her saliva.
From Goddess:
You're so shameless. How will I face you and look into your eyes after this? It's so embarrassing. How do I unsee this?
Hunter smiled, amused by her reply. Another message chimed in instantly.
From Goddess:
I'm not coming to breakfast until you leave.
From Devil:
You can come and eat. I already left.
What a shame, though, you missed your 'good morning kiss'.
And why is it embarrassing? Are you visualising the scene already?
Hera groaned, covering her face with her palms. She felt feverishly hot, sweating all over. Cursing at her perverted boyfriend's shameless tactics, she typed her last message.
From Goddess:
Get your mind out of the gutter, Lucifer and leave me alone to get dressed in peace. I'm getting late, and I don't want another detention.
From Devil:
Trust me, Goddess, it'll be your forever favourite dessert once you taste it.
Hera glared at the screen, grinding her teeth in annoyance. She sighed while her fingers rushed over the keypad hurriedly.
From Goddess:
Hunter, it's gross. I'll come and puke literally on your dick if you don't shut your dirty mouth.
Hunter was fast to type his reply, much to Hera's annoyance. He couldn't stop laughing at his own witty comeback and wished he could see the expression on Hera's face right now.
From Devil:
It's okay, Goddess. We can work on your gag reflex. Keep in mind that practice would eventually make it perfect.
Hera read the message, and her mouth dropped open in disbelief.
'Huh, the audacity! Asshole thinks he's the smartest one.'
Shaking her head in distaste, Hera turned her phone off and shoved it inside her backpack before grabbing her uniform to get dressed. She didn't reply because she knew she couldn't win against him when he was flirting or dirty talking.
When he understood that Hera wouldn't reply anymore, Hunter pocketed his phone and turned to see Danny had disappeared, and so did his other friends. However, Samantha was still there. Leaning against the wall beside the bulletin board, she waited for him.
"Have you seen this?" she asked, pointing to the gossip column. There was a sly smile on her face, eyes glinting wickedly. Hunter frowned when he saw Hera's name. It irked Samantha how he kept his face void of emotions after reading it. But she knew he wasn't pleased with the news of Hera getting along with Clara.
What she didn't know was that the mention of Samantha as his girlfriend pissed him the most. It reminded him of how it bothered Hera.
"What you did yesterday with my phone was unacceptable, Sam," Hunter said, causing Samantha's eyes to widen in surprise. She didn't expect him to broach that topic so suddenly, and she never thought he would question her for using his phone. She frowned, pretending clueless but Hunter was in no mood to buy her bullshit.
"Please don't use my phone without my permission and especially for posting things on my Instagram without my knowledge," he said harshly, anger flashing in his eyes. Samantha didn't think he would notice the new posts she made from his account. He hardly used his social media accounts. She knew Hunter only opened it when wants to post something. He was never interested in other people's posts.
'Of course, Hera told him. How did I forget the little bitch saw my post?'
Samantha knew opening her mouth to lie would only invite trouble for her. So instead, she pulled a hurt puppy face and pretended to be guilty. Lowering her eyes, she apologised, sounding timid. A tear or two rolled down her cheeks, and Hunter cursed inwardly. He didn't need any more drama from her now. Brushing his fingers through his hair, Hunter sighed in frustration.
"I don't appreciate when people do things behind my back. You know me, Samantha, I can't stand double-faced people. I hate it when friends betray each other. Hera could have misunderstood me," Hunter said through his gritted teeth and tried hard not to lash out at her. "I thought I cleared everything last time when I said, you and I are never going to happen. Please respect my decision," he said, sounding too exasperated.
Curling her fingers into closed fists, Samantha clenched her jaw and nodded her wordless agreement without looking at him.
