Chapter 629: Escape
Just as Noah and Joshua had predicted, Jared was seething in intense rage. This had been the most humiliating day of his life. All his attempts to trap his enemies had been rendered futile and even the woman he loved had escaped from his clutches, again. Jared was raging like a furious tiger and anyone who crossed him at this moment was bound to meet their doom.
Nobody among his gang members dared to approach him, considering how dark his expression was. Even from afar, they could sense the bloodthirst in the air and they shivered in their places immediately.
The man was already a monster at normal times. But now, with him fuming mad, he was fucking rifle. Anyone who approached would end up being dead for sure.
However, they had matters to attend to and since the people who had saved Maggie and killed their men knew their hideout, staying here any longer was not a good idea. The Intelligence could reach the place any time and considering how Jared had tricked them this time to escape from them, they would certainly take out all their anger on him as well as the others once they got caught.
The men looked at each other, wondering who to send to the tiger's den. But nobody was bold enough to face their death this soon and they stood still, worried about what to do next. The secretary who usually took the bullet for them usually had long been killed the day Maggie had escaped from the warehouse and now, the new secretary who they had trusted to be their shield lay captured in the Intelligence.
He was now as good as dead. After betraying their Boss, what use did he have to even live on earth? Moreover, the poor guy did not have any idea how he had fallen into the pit their Boss had dug for him. But none of the men pitied him. Since he chose to betray his boss, he was bound to face what he deserved.
The men waited for a long time. But Jared did not leave his office since the time he had entered it and time was ticking by like a time bomb. The more they delayed their escape, the more they would be in danger.
After waiting for some time, the men could not stay still anymore. Collectively, they looked at the most experienced man in the gang and the man gritted his teeth, understanding what the meaning behind their gazes was.
Even though he was unwilling to face his death, he had no choice either. Resigning to his fate, he eventually stepped forward and rolled his eyes at them, showing them his anger blatantly. But the men held only looks of gratitude and some even fell before his feet in happiness. Not caring about them, he walked towards the office.
Although from behind, he looked courageous and confident, only he knew how anxious and terrified he was. His palms had turned clammy while his shirt was completely drenched. Wiping his sweat that was trickling down his cheeks, he knocked at that door.
Jared at the moment was looking out the window as he stared at the dark night. His fury that had subsided after a long time was ignited again after being disturbed. He turned around immediately when he heard the door being opened and a head poked in. He was already pissed and the man's timid actions only annoyed him all the more.
He raised his gun and pointed at him right away, mortifying him completely.
"Boss, please forgive me for interrupting me. I wanted to remind you that we should leave from here soon. This place is no longer safe and if we continue to stay here any longer, the Intelligence might get to us." The man exclaimed all that he had in mind in one breath and closed his eyes immediately.
Jared lowered his gun after listening to him and his anger miraculously vanished. All the annoyance he felt a moment ago disappeared when he realized that he had neglected his duty in his rage.
"Order the men around. We will be leaving this place as soon as possible. Prepare for our departure." He ordered and turned again, not caring how shocked the man had been.
When Jared sensed the man's gaze on him even after a minute had passed.
"Do you have something else to say?" His voice was devoid of any emotions and the man shook his head immediately.
"No, Boss. I will get to work immediately." The man ran away from the place and Jared's lips twitched on seeing his extreme reaction.
'Am I a monster? Why is he behaving as if I will eat him?' He thought to himself before he looked at the picture on the table.
'Maggie,' He sighed. "I will be away for some time. But that does not mean I will let go of what happened today." He stated and picked up the picture frame. "I will come back, darling, for you. I still have to teach you a lesson for even defying me. Moreover, I have to capture all the people who have made my life miserable."
"Do not worry, dear. Do not worry. My eyes will always be on you and you, Maggie, better make sure that you hide well from me. Otherwise..." His smile arched up, his sinister eyes flashing with a promise. "Do not blame me for being a devil."
His smile vanished and he picked up a marker from the pen stand. He then drew a cross on her face before he placed the frame back on the table. "Let me give you one last surprise before I leave. This will keep you on your toes until I return."
He mumbled and without glancing at her face again, he walked out of his office. That night, Jared escaped to his new hideout, to his private island on a chopper. By the time his enemies found out about it, it was already too late.
