Alice looked at Zayne curiously. She didn't know how strong Zayne was, but she assumed he was capable of a lot.
"Hmm... I don't know, I'd have to see Zayne in combat to answer your question." Alice muttered a thoughtful expression, then she looked at the gas station, where several men were still fighting.
Alice smirked, "Hey, Zayne, I have an idea. Do you want to take care of these guys? That way the police would have less work to do. If you want, I can join you, and we can have a little competition between us."
"No." Zayne immediately declined, without any hesitation, "I'm not going to become the protector who deals with all the problems. The only two places I care about are my home and..."
"Zayne!!!" Galahan exclaimed with wide eyes staring into the phone, clutching it tightly in his hand.
"Agh?" Zayne gave him a questioning look. He didn't understand why he needed to be interrupted so abruptly.
"We have to go now! Your sister is in danger!" Galahan exclaimed, pointing to Zayne, the news.
Zayne flinched. Near the hospital where his sister was being treated there had been various skirmishes, people seemed to go crazy at one point when they realized there was no point in hiding anymore.
"Fuck... That's bad, but they're not going to barge right into the hospital, are they?" Zayne asked with a worried expression. The fighting was happening in the streets, but the attacks weren't strong enough to accidentally damage the building, for that kind of destruction people had to have a reason to fight right in the hospital.
Tap.
Alex came up behind him, putting his hand on Zayne's shoulder. Zayne turned around and saw Alex's dark face, which was very rare, even though he knew him very little.
"We have to go. I assure you, they'll be coming into the hospital soon, but not because they're crazy people who want to destroy everything around them, but because hospitals are full of drugs." Alex said calmly, making the others' eyes go wide.
Even though the players who got the Chaos Coin weren't many in percentage terms, because of the popularity of Fallen Fate, there were still hundreds of people. Obviously, some of them didn't lead healthy lifestyles and now they had an easy opportunity to get what they needed.
"When a few of these people show up, they'll start arguing with each other and it will quickly turn into a battle..." Zayne muttered, realizing how deep the problem really was.
People under normal circumstances often did inferior things for which no explanation could be found, and with freedom and superpowers, things became several times more dramatic.
"Hey! In that case, stop wasting time." Alice said sternly, "Let's get in the car. Given the way Alex drives, we'll get there fast enough."
"No..." Zayne muttered, looking off into the distance at the hospital, "Too many turns and considering there's a lot of people fighting now, some roads might be blocked... There's another option..."
"Agh...?" Alice tilted her head, then she frowned, "Zayne, stop acting like an idiot. If you can't fly, and you can't, there's no way you can get there faster than by car."
Zayne answered nothing, instead he bent his torso forward slightly as if he were about to make a dash forwards, and his blue eyes grew dark and deep as the abyss.
Crackle. Crackle. Crack.
The asphalt cracked as he lunged forward with a mighty shockwave that the wind blew around him. Then, Zayne's arms and legs were covered in blue energy, and he took another leap, another and another, getting faster each time.
"Holy shit..." Galahan muttered looking at the blue flash that was Zayne. He was jumping from one house to another at breakneck speed, leaving behind some destruction, but it didn't bother him.
"Hah, I don't know about strength, but in terms of speed, he's definitely at the highest level. Let's go! We have to get to the hospital before the fun part is over!" Alex exclaimed with an excited expression before running to the car.
Galahan quickly figured out what was going on and followed him, the last to go was Alice, who seemed more shocked than the others.
ραndαsΝοvεl ƈοm 'I thought I had a powerful skill that made me very fast, but I guess I'm not Top-1 in this area anymore, am I?' Alice muttered inwardly, with a slightly blank stare.
"Hey! How long have you been waiting?!" Alex shouted, already sitting in the car, bringing Alice out of her musings.
Alice nodded with a serious face, quickly running in his direction. She didn't care about Zayne's sister, he was all that mattered to her, but this was a good opportunity to see what he was capable of.
Crackle.
Alice jumped into the car, and Alex immediately hit the gas, accelerating to top speed in just a few seconds. He raised a cloud of dust with each turn, testing the tires for durability, but it gave him real pleasure.
"Hahaha, even though I actually have super strength, driving at top speed is a real thrill!" Alex exclaimed in delight.
Alice looked around, and gradually people started to leave the houses, among them, there were many ordinary people, those who had never even entered Fallen Fate.
To them, everything that was happening was real chaos, almost an apocalypse, which was partly true, since the world would never be the same again. They would have to realize that tonight.
The police had already begun to do their job, so the blue and red lights were glowing all over the city, along with the passing fire trucks and ambulances.
'Damn... I might get in trouble for this, but I can't have too many people seeing what he can do.' Alice pondered, looking at the helicopters flying in the distance.
It was probably one of the most important days for reporters in the last few years, they couldn't miss this moment and had to film absolutely everything, every incident.
Tap. Tap. Tap.
Alice quickly sent some messages to someone, then, several others flew up to the helicopters that were headed for the hospital, blocking their way.
"Hey! What's going on!" The pilot of one of these helicopters shouted in confusion, trying to fly on, but he was simply not allowed to.
Two black helicopters hovered beside him. The pilots, wearing black glasses, gestured for them to turn around, and they simply had no choice but to follow their instructions.
"Fuck!" The reporter exclaimed with anger, pounding his fist into the wall, "Fucking government! They're definitely trying to hide something from us there! We have to find out what's going on in that hospital by all means!"
"But... How do we do that...?" The girl muttered with a confused expression, "This is the first time I've seen the government act so harshly... It's unacceptable even in wartime!"
The man frowned, "Yeah... That's the problem, I knew this moment would come, but so did they. Well, let's get back." The man said, stiffly giving the order to the pilot.
The pilot nodded, as he turned the helicopter around, gradually flying away. The man with a dark face looked out the window until his gaze was caught by a blue flash rapidly approaching the hospital.
The man looked closely at the flash, narrowed his eyes, then shuddered at the realization of who he was seeing.
"To hell with it! Land right on the road!" The man shouted.
"What...? That's against the rules! I need a special permit for that!" The pilot was puzzled; he could only make such a landing in an emergency.
"Never mind! The government doesn't care about the rule today, so why should I worry about it? I've got to get into this hospital, or I'm going to lose the best report of my life!" The man said confidently, squeezing the pilot's shoulder tightly.
"Fine! I'll do it!" The pilot gritted his teeth and began looking for a place to land.
Though the pilot didn't want to do it, under pressure he had no other choice. He didn't know what the reporter saw, but obviously, it was something special.
Alice noticed it and frowned, "What the hell is that helicopter doing?"
"Hah, looks like someone figured out how the new rules work faster than you expected, doesn't it?" Alex smirked, turning the steering wheel sharply 90 degrees.
Alice and Galahan could barely keep their seats, but, no sooner had they come to their senses than Alex made several more sharp turns, causing Alice's face to slam against the window a few times. It seemed like Alex was doing it on purpose, but Alice couldn't charge him with anything as he tried to get them to the hospital as fast as possible.
Whoooooooooooosh.
Zayne used one last move, traversing several houses in one leap and ending up next to the hospital with a long blue plume that was left behind him.
"Bastard! Don't get in my way!" The man with the red hair exclaimed, creating a flaming sword, which he rained on his opponent.
The woman standing against him smirked, creating a water barrier that completely absorbed the attack. She wore a black leather jacket and a cruel look, her nose and mouth lavishly decorated with piercings.
"Is that the best you can do? You look like a real wimp! Don't bother me if you want to live!" The girl said confidently, preparing to launch an attack.
They as well as several others had not yet noticed that Zayne had appeared among them. They didn't even realize how big of a mistake this was, a mistake they would soon regret.
