Of the sixteen Knights, fifteen remained, and the only one who defeated the Knight was Zayne. Though everyone was busy fighting, it got everyone's attention.
"Damn... He did it so easily, without even using his weapon..." Someone muttered with a dazed expression.
"Agh, it's Zayne Fellen after all. With an ally like him, we'll definitely win!" The young man with the two daggers exclaimed cheerfully.
There was a similar reaction from almost everyone, which raised the overall fighting spirit of the team.
Crackle.
A long sword plunged into one Knight's chest, and his body began to be covered in a thin layer of ice. Jane twisted the sword, triggering an explosion of icy energy that tore the Knight apart, scattering rocky debris aside.
"Enough talk." Jane said sternly, swinging her sword, "These Knights are only the very beginning of the ruins, and you already expect someone to deal with them for you? Start fighting in all seriousness!"
Another Knight appeared behind Jane, seemingly unaware of it, and now a spear was about to pierce her chest. One of the Players was ready to shout out and warn her, but as soon as he opened his mouth a dark flash passed through the Knight.
Luis's spear pierced the Knight's head, forever turning him into a ruined statue, with no light in the eyes.
"Minus one." Luis smirked as his gaze fell over the entire battlefield, "We've already destroyed three, I think we'll deal with the rest soon."
"Yeah... Let's hurry up, all the fun stuff always happens at the end. There's no point in staying too late at the beginning." Dave uttered in a muffled tone and walked slowly forward toward the two Knights.
Dave wasn't as big as Geir, but his strength was enough to hold a huge tower shield, and it was the least he could do.
Dave stared at the Knights and took a deep breath. His whole body went red for a moment, then his shield burst into flames, and the ground beneath him cracked.
Whoooooooooooooooooosh.
The fiery shield collapsed on the two Knights, shattering them to pieces under pressure.
"Fine, now we each need to kill less than one Knight, I think this will be easy." Dave said calmly, looking at the other Players.
Seeing that not only Zayne could fight against the Knights, the Players realized that their opponent was not as strong as they thought, so the next moment everyone used a skill.
"Wow... That looks impressive..." Zayne muttered, staring at almost every possible element.
Some used wind, some fought with water or fire, and some had darkness or light as a loyal ally. There were as many Players as there were paths of development, each making their own choices.
Zayne shrugged and stepped aside. He stood against the wall, crossed his arms across his chest, and watched the battle closely. He didn't want to spoil his sword on a rock or risk getting serious wounds, it was more useful in case of danger. Whether he wanted to or not, he had to follow the rules of the ruins to get through.
"Hah, looks like our Top-1 decided to rest. Is he tired after one clash?" Dave grinned, rubbing the back of his head.
"Well, this is certainly an unusual situation. I still can't believe it worked out that way, but we have to keep an eye on him, there's no telling what he's capable of." Luis said calmly with a sly smile on his face.
Gradually the Players defeated the Knights. Some were wounded, but it wasn't anything critical, just a few cuts and scratches. Eventually, there were only two Knights left, and they no longer dared to advance.
The Knights slowly stepped back, while more than ten players approached them with confident smirks.
'Hmmm... What are they doing?' Zayne pondered with a slightly puzzled look, he didn't know why, but the Knights' actions seemed suspicious to him.
"Hehehe, at first, they frightened me with their strength, but it turns out that they are no stronger than ordinary mobs!" Someone said confidently, holding the massive sword firmly in his hands.
The knights suddenly stopped, looked at each other, and nodded, then they raised their hands up as if praising the moon and began striking their shields with their spears. There was a muffled sound from their collision, which gradually grew louder, while their shields flashed with blue light.
"Agh... What's going on...?" Dave muttered with his eyes wide open.
"Shit! This is bad!" Jane stepped forward and exclaimed, "Everybody! Step back! Now!"
Her voice echoed throughout the battlefield, and the Players obeyed her and hurried quickly away from the Knights. They might not have been as strong as Jane or Luis, but they had all reached Level 10 and were more experienced than most other Players.
Tremble. Tremble. Tremble.
The Knights trembled as cracks appeared on their bodies from which a blue light burst out. The next moment the Knights exploded simultaneously as only two spheres remained in their place.
The shockwave reached the Players who were closer than the others, throwing them aside and causing them a lot of damage.
"Fuck! What was that!" The wounded Player exclaimed with his face twisted in pain as he pulled a red potion from his belt.
The spheres soared upward and headed toward the Royal Knight, who was still a mere statue until then. The spheres, replacing the eyes of the Royal Knight, became two blue stars, awakening the strongest of them from sleep.
Crackle. Crackle. Crackle.
The Royal Knight began to tremble, as the dust fell from him with the small stones that had been on him for an unknown amount of time, then he slowly raised his hands, pulling his sword from the ground.
[The Royal Knight has been awakened!]
[Defeat the chief guard of the entrance to pass on!]

Several messages appeared in front of each Player, making them wary.
Step. Step. Step.
The Royal Knight took a few steps forward, shaking the ground and surveying the battlefield, then he pointed to one of the Players who stood closest to him. It was the guy with the massive sword.
'Oh... This is not good.' Zayne stepped back from the wall, looking at something lying on the floor.
The Royal Knight's eyes flashed brightly as a magical circle appeared in front of his hand, then a blue projectile launched out of it, heading towards the Player at great speed.
"What...?" The young man muttered as he froze in place.
"Shit! Dodge!" Jane exclaimed, clenching her fists.
Whooooooooooooooooosh.
With a whistle, a stone shield flew into the projectile like a disc colliding with it. A blast of blue flame tossed the young man aside, completely breaking his sword and leaving burns all over his body.
"I'll help you!" The short girl exclaimed as the staff in her hand glowed a pleasant green light, then the young man's wounds began to heal quickly, but he was still in critical condition.
Everyone understood that their mission depended on whether this guy would survive or not, so the others also decided to help, barely saving him. The others looked in the direction from where the stone shield came and saw Zayne, standing calmly in place.
Zayne looked at them with a cold stare and said in a stern tone, "All except those three, get as far away as you can. The four of us will take care of this big guy, won't we?" Zayne glared at Jane, waiting for her reply.
