Chapter 269

  1. It’s best to start by drawing bigger picture (2)

“This is the entrance to the Elves’ Forest.”

“This is….”

I nodded my head expressionlessly at the elf’s expressionless words.

“It just looks like a forest….”

“Because it is a forest.”

It really was an ordinary forest.

There was no magical barrier or huge trees. Just ordinary grass and trees that you could see anywhere.

“There isn’t even a barrier?”

“This is our territory.  There’s no need for something like a barrier.”

It was a confident statement, but elves were just as strong and blessed a race.

Of course, there are records in the past where they were pushed back by the quantity and sneak attacks of humans when they trusted in that strength, but as far as I know there hasn’t been any history of invasion since the World Tree appeared.

Moreover, the goddess of benevolent and devotion who is the god the elves worship, and who gave them that World Tree, saved the world from the evil god.

Messing with elves could become a public service to all the races living on the continent.

-It’s all thanks to me!

-Yeah. You’re right.

This was all the metal bat’s achievement.

The achievement of her younger sister almost destroying the world, but stopping it and becoming a hero instead.

Of course, in return, her younger sibling is sleeping in a sleep with an unknown awakening.

-How awful, right?

-They say siblings are like that.

For some reason, it sounded convincing.

If they’re siblings, it does seem like it would be that way.

“From here, it will be hard to move by carriage.”

There were no roads in the elves’ forest, which was nature itself.

“I understand.”

Looking at the irregular roots and rocks stuck in the ground, it seemed like it would be hard to get the carriage out.

Even if you were riding a well-trained war horse, it seemed like it would be difficult to quickly get out of this forest.

In contrast, the native elves of this place could probably dart through the forest as if it were flat ground.

-What do you want to do?

The terrain was pretty much the worst for escaping.

When it would be hard for even me alone to get out, I have to flee from here with Shuttle at minimum or the hero at most.

-Should we try asking the hero for help?

-Will he help?

-We’ll only know if we try.

When I moved a step in order to prevent Shuttle from helping the hero, who was moving his body every which way trying to escape but only accomplishing drool dripping from the orb in his mouth…

“Then why did you leave me behind and run away alone?”

Words completely different from what I expected spilled out of Shuttle’s mouth.

That chill voice made it hard to believe he was a sage of Nature Religion!

“Mmmph!”

“It’s useless. Give up hero. It will be more comfortable if you give up.”

Hahaha!

Shuttle let out a short laugh, glanced at me, then followed behind the elves.

-My master ruined that person.

I don’t know about anything else, but I have to admit it just this once.

Hero, I’m sorry.

Shuttle, I’m sorry.

Please forgive me for not being able to abandon you two.

#2 Their Situation: The situation of a certain hero (kidnapping, imprisonment victim)

Thud thud.

I woke up to the sound of something thudding. But I can’t see anything.

Perfect darkness. It wouldn’t be this dark even on a night without a speck of moonlight.

What is this? What’s happening right now?

What I need at times like this is magic.

I have to make use of the techniques I learned from my instructor’s malicious traps during my Howling days.

“Mmmph?”

But I realized my magic wasn’t moving. At the same time, I realized my mouth was blocked by something.

I tried to push out whatever was stuck in my mouth with my tongue, but it was useless.

Whatever round thing was stuck in my mouth was already firmly fixed in place.

At the same time, I realized I couldn’t move my whole body.

“Mmph! Mm mph!”

“It seems he’s awake.”

“He can’t resist anyway. Just pull him out.”

“Yes sir!”

At my words, unfamiliar voices started lifting me up.

“Mmph!”

I was a hero who had struck down even dragons, and was evaluated as the strongest among all heroes existing on this continent.

But now I had been reduced to a state where I couldn’t even twitch a finger.

Why? Just what on earth happened to me!

“Mmph! Mmph! Mmph mmph!”

“He’s speaking quite noisily. Will it be okay?”

“I wonder what’s going on?”

“What’s going on? When he’s being transported in that state, it’s unlikely he’s in his right mind.”

“Ah….”

“I see.”

What malicious beings could I have come across?

Based on what parts I could feel right now, my arms and legs were restricted, and my eyes and mouth were confined.

Despite that, I was being dragged off to who knows where by people chatting so nonchalantly.

“Mmph mmph mmph!”

“It’s annoying so lower him quickly!”

“Yes sir!”

“Roger!”

After several clicking sounds, I hung in midair for just a brief moment before being lowered to the ground again.

From the feeling of the earth beneath me, there was no road.

The dirt wasn’t hardened so it was soft, and I could hear the sound of hard rocks and rustling leaves.

A forest. This place is a forest.

Even with my eyes covered and magic sealed, it wasn’t hard to reach that conclusion after piecing together the ambient information.

A forest. Why was I brought to a forest?

At that moment, I remembered the elves that had attacked me just before I lost consciousness.

And after that,

“Eek! Eek eek!”

The faces of the metal bat and the instructor float up in my mind. I have to escape.

But I’m already perfectly captured, aren’t I?

Still, I have to escape.

If my arms and legs were gone, I’d have to crawl away.

“Hero…….”

“Eek eek!”

Hil’s voice rings out from somewhere.

I turn my head towards it and scream desperately for help.

But,

“Why did you run away and leave me behind?”

I have no choice but to give up on asking for help due to Hil’s icy cold voice.

“It’s useless. Give up, Hero. It’s easier if you give up.”

With that said, I hear the sound of shuffling feet.

He’s gone. Hil has abandoned me.

“You’ve calmed down.”

“Yes, it’ll be easier for us to take him like this.”

As I slump down in despair, beautiful female voices ring out from both sides.

They must be elves.

I’ve been captured by Instructor, who leads the elves.

This damned Demon King.

To not be able to take down Instructor even after such a perfect ambush.

As expected, those of the Demon King race don’t seem to be of any help in life.

Yes. As Instructor said, don’t wait for someone’s help in life, you have to move on your own and solve things with your own hands.

“Eek eek!”

But Instructor, how am I supposed to solve things when I can’t use my hands or feet or even mouth!

“Eek eek eek!”

“So noisy.”

“But he’s Ms. Lirellia’s guest.”

“Even so, inviting a human into the elf forest….”

“It’s not as surprising as a high elf leaving the World Tree.”

“That’s true.”

They seemed to be quite loose-lipped elves.

In that case, it would be best to change methods.

Since I can’t move anyway, I’ll just gather information from the elves instead of fruitlessly struggling.

“I wonder if he’ll get to meet the person Ms. Lirellia calls Your Highness.”

“He seems more ordinary than I thought.”

“Right? He looks quite old….”

“Well, he’s human. He must have been handsome in the past.”

“Hmmm….. I don’t think Ms. Lirellia looks at appearances?”

“Still, I wonder what she does look at.”

Let’s organize this.

The repeated mention of a high elf leaving the World Tree and the name Lirellia.

With high probability, the one named Lirellia is a high elf.

And that elf named Lirellia has someone she usually calls Your Highness.

Uh… Um… Could that be…? No way, right?

“But why do they have to capture the hero?”

“The person called Your Highness asked Ms. Lirellia for help.”

“Why on earth?”

“From what I vaguely heard, it’s because he keeps running away….”

“From what?”

“That I don’t know.”

Ah… Instructor, what exactly does one have to do to become the high elf’s prince?

The Karan Empire, the worst of the evil organizations on the continent, against which no one can stand.

And the dwarves of the Black Anvil clan, more evil than the Evil god.

On top of that, as the king of the demons, he ruled over the demons, and covertly unified all the evil organizations on the continent.

And lastly, the high priestess of the Goddess of Benevolent and Devotion who saved the world from the Evil god!

He left no place untouched on both the Human Continent and the Demon Continent, no one who wasn’t a heavyweight.

Ah, plus the Demon King is also related to Instructor?

If you just have connections to the Evil god now, there’s nothing strange about calling him the center of the world.

And!

“Eek eek!”

Being dragged towards that center was my fate!

“Why is he quiet like this now?”

“Should we knock him out?”

“Eek eek!”

Please let me go.

I’m saying this seriously but all that comes out of my mouth is drool dripping down.

Damn! To think there is something that can restrict my magic power this much!

I did escape training at the Nature Temple wearing magic suppression restraints they gave me in case of emergency situations, but the various tools on my body are exhibiting a power far stronger than even the temple’s restraints.

But I can’t give up. If I get caught by Instructor like this, who knows what will happen.

“Eek eek eek!”

“Wah! What? How is he moving like that?”

“Damn! Let’s knock him out.”

“Right!”

An elf grabbed me by the nape of the neck but it’s useless.

“Huh? What?”

“What are you doing? It might hurt a bit but do it properly.”

“No, I really did do it properly….”

Thwack! Thwack thwack! Thwack thwack thwack!

“What are you doing?”

“I’m serious, I really am doing it properly!”

Foolish elves.

What have I endured until now that I would lose consciousness from such meager power!

“Eek eek eek!”

“what? “Why isn’t he fainting?”

“Tsk! He’s getting stronger!”

“Won’t he break the restraints if you keep doing that?”

“Uwaa!”

In an instant I was able to shake off the elves grabbing me.

I can’t walk with shackles around my ankles but I can still jump around like this.

“What kind of conviction makes him like this….”

“Nevermind that, catch him first!”

“Why is he running so fast like that?”

“Hero, don’t run around so recklessly!”

“Right! Keep your dignity as a hero!”

Dignity? I was educated from childhood to throw away such things.

Now is the time to put that education into practice!

“Eek! Eek! Eek!”

“Uwaaa!”

I seemed able to run at a speed the elves couldn’t keep up with, even with all their power.

I can’t see ahead but at this rate I should somehow be able to escape.

…Just as I was thinking that.

“Where are you going?”

Hearing the evil voice calling out from somewhere, I can’t help but cry out in despair.

“Eek eek!”

Damn! Is this the promised pattern unfolding again!

Hearing the metal bat’s voice from ahead, I muster all my strength to try and avoid her,

“Art Punch★“

“Eek eek!”

And get struck by the promised pattern, crumbling down.
