Although the cottages looked shabby, they would be a nice residential place after they were renovated. Wang Yao was more determined to purchase the cottages after standing next to them for a while.

The night was very quiet. Wang Yao didn’t have any dreams overnight.

He got up very early the next morning and went straight to the top Nanshan hill to do some breathing exercises on a big rock. He then worked in the herbal field after finishing. He watered the licorice roots one by one carefully with ancient spring water. The licorice roots were growing very well.

“San Xian, I have to visit a place very far from here tomorrow. I won’t be here for a while. Keep a close eye on the herbal field for me,” said Wang Yao.

Woof! Woof! Woof! San Xian seemed to understand Wang Yao. He nodded and wagged his tail.

...

It was Saturday.

Wang Yao’s sister came home from Lianshan town center. Wang Yao had a wonderful time with everyone in his family.

“You are visiting Beijing again?” Wang Ru was surprised to find out that Wang Yao was heading to Beijing again.

“Yes,” said Wang Yao.

“Look after yourself while you are in Beijing. Remember to bring me back some gifts,” said Wang Ru.

Wang Ru never forgot about teasing Wang Yao, although she truly cared about her brother.

“Maybe I should take a few days off to travel with you. I’m not too busy at the moment,” added Wang Ru.

“Are you serious?!” Zhang Xiuying gave her daughter a stern look.

“I was just joking. Don’t forget to visit Auntie when you are in Beijing,” said Wang Ru.

“Right, are you leaving tomorrow? Remember to take all this stuff,” said Zhang Xiuying.

Zhang Xiuying took some things out of the cabinet and drawers. She packed a big bag of pancakes, salted vegetables, and pea noodles.

“Mom, they can get anything in Beijing!” said Wang Yao.

“Your auntie mentioned last time that those pancakes in Beijing don’t taste good, and those pea noodles are also not as good as the ones in the village,” said Zhang Xiuying.

“Why do you want to give the salted vegetables to Auntie?” Wang Yao pointed at those salted vegetables looking like a knot.

“Just bring them with you,” said Zhang Xiuying.

“Fine, I’ll bring everything,” said Wang Yao.

He nodded with a smile. He knew his auntie’s family could get anything they wanted in Beijing, even those foods his mother had packed. They were not only gifts but also kind wills from the family.

Wang Yao stayed at home the whole day. He only packed a few clothes into a small suitcase. Everything else was in the cabinet of the system. He didn’t return to Nanshan hill until late at night.

At the same time, Chen Boyuan was at a hotel in Lianshan town center. He looked through the window and was a bit worried.

I hope that Dr. Wang won’t change his mind. Should I call him to confirm?

He walked back and forth in the room for a moment and eventually decided to call Wang Yao.

“Hello, Dr. Wang. It’s me, Chen Boyuan speaking. Just wanted to confirm that you are leaving for Beijing tomorrow...Okay, Okay, great! I’ll pick you up.”

Chen Boyuan was no longer anxious after speaking to Wang Yao. He sat next to the window and started to enjoy the view of Lianshan.

Lianshan was a small town. A lot of people hadn’t even heard of it. He had lived in Beijing for over 20 years and had gotten used to the busy life in Beijing which had a much better view at night. Compared to Beijing, Lianshan was too quiet and too common; it was not attractive at all.

A capable young man like Wang Yao would rather stay in a quiet place like Lianshan.

Most young people were full of dreams and passion. They looked forward to working and living in big cities where life was colorful and revelry. They wouldn’t hesitate to go to a big city if they had a chance. None of them were willing to stay in such a small and quiet city and run a dull life. Not to mention that Wang Yao was also such an extraordinary doctor. The Guo and Su family would treat him as an extinguished guest in Beijing as long as he was happy to stay.

I really don’t understand him.

But Chen Boyuan didn’t need to worry about Wang Yao’s thoughts. The only thing he worried about was if Wang Yao could visit Beijing again soon, and Wang Yao had agreed to go with him tomorrow. What he needed to do now was to have a nice and solid sleep and arrange their trip back to Beijing tomorrow. As soon as Wang Yao had arrived at Beijing without any hiccups, his purpose of visiting Lianshan will have been served.

I can finally have a good night’s rest tonight.

Chen Boyuan was awakened by his alarm clock at 6 am the next morning. He quickly got up and cleaned his teeth and face, then he had breakfast. He drove to Wang Yao’s village after he had checked out of the hotel.

The village was quiet early in the morning. Chen Boyuan could hear an occasional dog barking and rooster singing which made the village even quieter by contrast.

After finishing his routine breathing exercises, Wang Yao walked around Nanshan hill slowly. He took a close look at each area, and each herb then gave instructions to San Xian and Da Xia before leaving.

Zhang Xiuying made a particularly rich breakfast for her son. Everything she made was Wang Yao’s favorite.

“Mom, you don’t need to cook a banquet for me; I’m just going to Beijing,” said Wang Yao.

“Just eat your food,” said Zhang Xiuying.

“Okay,” said Wang Yao.

With the progress he made following his breathing exercises, his appetite had increased. He could eat the same amount of food served for five people, but of course, he would control the quantity of food he ate.

“Look after yourself; call your auntie if you need help,” said Zhang Xiuying.

“Okay Mom, I’m their distinguished guest,” said Wang Yao with a smile.

His father didn’t say anything; he just patted his shoulder.

“Gotta go, Mom, Dad. By the way, Sis, I hope you’ll find yourself a husband when I get back,” said Wang Yao.

“Go away!” shouted Wang Ru.

“Hahaha!”

Wang Yao walked out of the door while laughing. He found Chen Boyuan had been waiting for him as he turned down the road.

“Morning, when did you get here?” asked Wang Yao.

“I’ve just arrived. Let me take your luggage.” Chen Boyuan took Wang Yao’s luggage and placed them in the trunk of the car. Then he opened the door for Wang Yao.

“Do you need to go anywhere else before we head to the airport?” asked Chen Boyuan.

“No,” said Wang Yao.

“Good, the plane will take off 11:45 am and will land in Beijing at around 2:30 pm,” said Chen Boyuan.

“Okay,” said Wang Yao.

Since Wang Yao didn’t need to go elsewhere, Chen Boyuan drove straight to Haiqu airport. They heard the notice of boarding soon after they had arrived at the airport. Their timing was good.

They flew with a domestic airline this time, and Chen Boyuan still booked first-class tickets for both of them. A lot of people were flying with them, even from a small city like Haiqu. The first class seats were almost full.

Wang Yao’s seat was next to the window. He looked through the window quietly.

Time passed slowly like the clouds around the plane. Suddenly, an enormous city appeared at the west side of the clouds.

They had arrived in Beijing.

The plane landed slowly.

Wang Yao looked around after getting off of the plane. He was in this city, which was old as well as modern, again.

Although he had been to Beijing once, he still felt unfamiliar with the city.

“Hello, Dr. Wang,” said the person picking him and Chen Boyuan up from the airport.

“Hello, thank you for coming,” said Wang Yao.

As soon as Wang Yao and Chen Boyuan got out of the airport, someone came to help carry their luggage for them. The person had been waiting outside the airport for a while.

“We are going to take you the cottage you lived previously. Is that okay with you?” asked the person picking Wang Yao up.

“Yes,” said Wang Yao.

The car traveled slowly on the streets of Beijing. Although it was not peak hour, they were in Beijing, the city with a population of more than 20 million people. The traffic could be congested at any time.

The cottage stayed the same—a quiet place in a busy city. Chen Ying was still there.

“Hello, Dr. Wang,” said Chen Ying with a smile.

“Hello,” said Wang Yao.

“I will be looking after you while you stay here,” said Chen Ying.

“Thank you,” said Wang Yao.

“Your room stayed the same. I’ve kept it for you,” said Chen Ying with a smile.

Chen Ying was happy to see Wang Yao, an extraordinary young man, again. She hoped to see Wang Yao’s superb Kung Fu skills again too.

“I’ll leave you to rest. I’ll visit you at another time,” said Chen Boyuan.

“Okay, thanks,” said Wang Yao.

He carried his luggage and walked into his room. He didn’t feel tired after just a two hour’s flight.

Chen Boyuan went to Su Xiaoxue’s house straight away after leaving the cottage. He reported what had happened in Lianshan to Su Xiaoxue’s mother.

“So he is here?” asked Song Ruiping.

“Yes, he just settled in the cottage,” said Chen Boyuan.

“Good! Good! Good!” Song Ruiping was too excited.

“I’ll go to meet him in a minute.”

“Ma’am, I think we’d better allow Dr. Wang to rest first,” said Chen Boyuan gently.

“Okay, he’s here anyway,” said Song Ruiping after thinking for a while.

Wang Yao left his luggage in the room then went to find Chen Ying in the courtyard.

“I want to see Su Xiaoxue,” said Wang Yao.

“Okay, I’ll walk you there,” said Chen Ying.

The cottage was only several hundreds of meters away from Su Xiaoxue’s house. Chen Ying didn’t need to drive Wang Yao there. They just walked and soon arrived at Su Xiaoxue’s house.

“Hello, Dr. Wang, thank you so much for coming!” Song Ruiping came out to welcome Wang Yao as soon as she knew he was here. “Please come in.”

Wang Yao had to admit that people of high social status were very courteous. Song Ruiping had shown lovely manners and the way she gave compliments were very appropriate.

“Shall I take a look at Miss Su?” suggested Wang Yao.

“Sure, please come with me,” said Song Ruiping.

Wang Yao entered the familiar room to see the girl lying in the bed and being covered by gauze. She had bandages all over her body and was like the living dead.

“Xiaoxue, Dr. Wang is here.” Song Ruiping bent down to speak to her daughter gently, unsure if she could hear her.

“Hello, Xiaoxue,” said Wang Yao gently.

Hello, Dr. Wang said Su Xiaoxue in her mind. He’s finally here.

Wang Yao’s voice made her feel warm and hopeful. She had been waiting for him for a long time.

Wang Yao checked Su Xiaoxue’s pulse.

What?

Wang Yao was excited.

“What’s going on, Dr. Wang?” asked Song Ruiping anxiously as she thought something was wrong with her daughter.

“Don’t worry, her condition is actually better than the last time I saw her,” said Wang Yao.

He was actually quite surprised by the improvement.
