Chapter 179: New Wind Base (3)

"What's your purpose for coming here? Our base is not welcoming outsiders. Please get back to where you came from." one of the survivors replied to Zhang Qin Feng without showing himself. But his thinking was a little too immature because everyone could roughly guess his position through the direction the voice came from.

"If you're not that welcoming, then why it's only three of you here? Shouldn't all 20 people from your team come here and stop me from going forward?" Zhang Qin Feng continued.

His reply shocked the local survivors because it was as Zhang Qin Feng said. Out of the twenty or so people in this facility, only the three of them came to stop Zhang Qin Feng from going further. The others were just unbothered by Zhang Qin Feng's arrival at all.

In fact, it was not because the local survivors had no intention to stop them. The reason nobody was doing anything was that they're lack of a leader to control the entire situation.

"Who's the leader? I want to talk to him." Zhang Qin Feng continued.

"We've got no… Umph…" one of the local survivors was going to reply to Zhang Qin Feng's question. But before he managed to speak, the other guy pulled him down and covered his mouth. From how it looks, what this local survivor will say will bring them into a vulnerable position.

"Stupid! Do you even know him? What if this guy were scavengers from nearby?" his companion scolded him for trying to speak without thinking.

"Our leader is not someone you can meet as you like. Go back. There's nothing much for you to get here." the first survivor that asked Zhang Qin Feng's purpose for coming here said. After speaking out about what was in his mind, he revealed himself by standing near the balcony of the first floor.

"Oh? What if I try to bribe you with this?" Zhang Qin Feng flicked his finger twice.

Satella quickly took two canned rations out from her inner pocket and passed them to Zhang Qin Feng. Zhang Qin Feng tossed the two rations over to the balcony for the local survivor without further ado as a bribe.

"Not enough," he said. He remained indifferent before the two canned rations he picked from the ground.

[There's a hint of lies within his tone]

Said Stein.

Perhaps the local survivor thought he's competent. Still, every single move, answer, and action from him was monitored by the system carefully. It was pointless for him to try and lie past Zhang Qin Feng and his men because it will be uncovered eventually.

By that time, the losses he'll be facing would be more than just losing a place to stay.

"Not enough? Quite an appetite, I see… What about this?" Zhang Qin Feng flicked his finger again. In a flash of an eye, he had close to 25 canned rations stacked by his side. The eleven soldiers who followed Zhang Qin Feng took their rations out and tossed them over to the local survivor's balcony.

"Is this enough to bribe you to let me meet with your boss?" Zhang Qin Feng asked again. But deep inside his mind, he knew that the local survivor won't be able to meet his demand.

Because they had no leader with them.

Zhang Qin Feng puts pressure on the locals, so he'll blurt out everything to protect his own interest. No matter what he would do, Zhang Qin Feng would eventually takeover this facility. So it would be good to start from a weak-minded individual instead of someone hot-headed.

"This friend…" his tone softens. It seems the bribing with food trick works. But it seems another push is needed for Zhang Qin Feng to win this local's trust.

"We got no leaders! This place has no leaders!" the survivor that had his mouth covered screamed. It seems he had no clue something like that would jeopardize their deal.

"You stupid oaf!" the other survivor panicked. Quickly grabbing his gun nearby, he tried to point the weapon at Zhang Qin Feng and the others.

Knowing that they'll die anyway, the survivor was hoping to drag one unlucky guy along with him.

But when his eyes were staring at Zhang Qin Feng, he noticed that the latter had no intention to attack them at all. Instead, Zhang Qin Feng was telling everyone to hold their position.

"Huh?" Zhang Qin Feng's action confused the survivor. He ended up not pulling the trigger but slowly lowering his gun.

"Come down here and have a talk," said Zhang Qin Feng. The three of them were puzzled, but it's not like they have a choice.

It was a little different from Alex's direction. The moment he encountered the survivors, a gunfight immediately started. There were close to five local survivors over here, firing at Alex and the others randomly.

From its look, the locals are trying to keep the outsiders from approaching the building they're protecting. This made Alex tries to guess the motive behind their immediate retaliation.

"Guys, look around and tell me why these people were so aggressive," Alex instructed his men to search for a clue. There must be a reason for the locals to get so aggressive if this place were not significant.

"Leader, I think I found the reason they're so aggressive even before we talk to them." one of Alex's men comes back and points his finger at the signboard on the wall.

[[FACILITY CONTROL TOWER]]

"No wonder… They thought we're here to take control over this entire facility." Alex nodded. But he soon realized something else.

"We're indeed here to take over this facility, correct? Then what are we waiting for?" Alex chuckled to himself.

"Everyone, get ready. Return fire. Takedown the locals without killing them, and let's control that tower before we return to our boss for his next instruction. I think he'll be happy if he knew that we've taken over the control system of this facility less than half a day after we come in." Alex said.
