"Holy shit..." Emily took a deep breath while being carried by the undeads to our camp. "I've never resurrected that many corpses... I feel like I'm going to die... Well, I've been dead before."
Walking with Xenora's shoulders, I looked at my troops which were increasing in number, even though the casualties from our side were enormous.
Emily just turned almost all of the kingdom's troops into moving corpses. She even resurrected five wyverns.
That's why she run out of energy. She had to do it herself. Her disciples couldn't even resurrect more than three corpses at the same time.
Because of her, I've more than 1000 troops now. That might be good, but among them, I found some of my squad: zombie minotaurs, shapeshifters, mares, and even some succubi flying above us.
If I was better at strategizing and making decisions, would there be fewer deaths on my side?
"My lord…." Emily, who was still on the stretcher, patted my hand. "Cheer up. This is the first of many victories."
I put on a faint smile. "Ah, you're right, Emily."
Yes, no matter what, this is one big step in reaching my dream.
"Here, please." I made a request when I arrived near Ritor. The minotaur was sitting while Lexi was casting a healing spell on him.
This time he can calm down, very different from when Lana treated him back then.
"Ah, you go ahead, Doc." I raised one hand as Lexi was about to treat me. "Ritor needs that more than I do."
I shook my head as Ritor was about to speak. Then, I looked around again, finding the members of my squad who had not received treatment yet.
I've made a lot of shapeshifters who practice healing spells from Lexi, but they seem to be lacking in number. I must take note of this.
"Can I help you, my lord?" Robyn came over to me with a small bag. "I can take care of you."
Even though my body was filled with pain, I smiled and shook my head again. "Thanks, but it's not necessary, Robyn. You'd better take care of the others. I'll wait until the doctor can treat me."
The short blonde-haired woman had opened her mouth only to close it again. Then, she sighed. "Very well, my lord."
Without saying another word, she left with an occasional glance at me.
"You go too, Xenora." I turned to the succubus. "You're worried about your subordinates, right? You'd better check on them."
"But..."
"They need you more than I do." I widen your smile. "Please, be the best leader for them."
"I must also go check on my comrades, Your Majesty." Ritor was about to stand up, but I pulled his arm.
"No, you haven't finished being treated yet." For the third time, I shook my head.
"I'll take my leave, then." Xenora finally got up and then left me too.
"Has anyone got symptoms like Phisovia, Doc?" I twitched a little, still trying to endure the pain in my body.
"Surprisingly, only a few get something like that. Maybe the kingdom's troops don't have that much poison in stock." Lexi wrapped Ritor's right hand with a cloth. It was a wound that was too deep and could not be healed by healing spells.
"I see." I then looked at Ritor's broken left horn. Only about a fifth of it remained. "Will his horns grow again?"
Lexi shook her head.
"It's nothing, my lord." Ritor wore a faint smile, something the minotaur rarely displayed. "I'm happy participated in a great war like this. Yes, maybe many of our comrades have died, but the glory and joy I get..."
The minotaur narrowed his eyes at a male undead whose face was half crushed. He walked slower than the others because his right leg was broken, so it had to be dragged.
"I did order all the humans to guard the captives or do odd jobs," I explained. "However, Finn insists on joining the war."
"Ah, I remember he wanted to fight beside me, but I refused."
Ritor displayed an expression that was difficult to read, whether it was sad, angry, or something else. Is it possible that he was disappointed and regretted that Finn died? Ritor had helped that person, after all. If that person eventually dies in something like this, what's the point of helping him?
Well, that's just my guess. Maybe I'll never be able to find out what the minotaur general was thinking.
"Perhaps this will hurt a little, Your Majesty." Lexi brought her two glowing hands close to the wound on one of my wings.
I winced because I felt the heat and little biting sensations in that wound.
Then, Garthur came while accompanying the human group. They brought tied captives from the kingdom's troops.
Suddenly Garthur knelt before Ritor and started shedding tears. Yes, that super masculine creature cries, and his snot comes out.
"I wanted to fight alongside you, Sir Ritor!" Garthur's cries grew louder.
Ritor took a deep breath, then slapped his second in command so hard that it made a thunderous sound.
"Don't embarrass me!" The general snapped.
Garthur stood up and put his hands behind his back. His wet eyes stared straight ahead. "Yes, sir!"
One of the higher-ups of the kingdom's army, a man with long blonde hair and stern facial bones, laughed. This made his comrades look surprised.
"Is there anything funny, commander?" I smiled while allowing Lexi to continue to take care of me. "That golden badge on your shoulder means you're the commander, right?"
"You guys are acting like real soldiers! But in the end, you are just despicable creatures!!!" That man snapped with bulging eyes.
"Despicable creature, huh?" I rubbed my chin. "Please tell me, commander. What's despicable about helping people? We solve problems the government of your country has never touched, sir. One of them is removing that crime-ridden place from Marystar. Many people thank us for that."
"Did you say our government is incompetent!? How dare you! It's the government that makes this country work! You despicable, godless creatures don't know anything! You…."
The commander kept talking and didn't give me a chance to respond. Starting to feel annoyed, I whispered something into Ritor's ear.
The minotaur got up and approached that man.
"What are you going to do, you rotten horned creature!" The commander was still running his mouth. "I'm not afraid of you..."
His words were cut off by a slap from the minotaur's huge hand. The other captives cringed at the sight of the commander falling unconscious with a big red mark on his face.
