95 Another Agenda

Seeing his two new spells worked splendidly, Blake nodded his head in satisfaction as his hard work for the past few days had paid off as much as he wanted.

The earth spike that was imbued by the darkness element had become even stronger and tougher than the original one, while the mass marking spell had succeeded in marking all five wolves without fail.

Blake had also mastered the way the greenish demon and the brownish demon held onto their spell to prevent them from directly manifesting after being drawn so that they could time their spells at the right moment to get the most out of the spell.

Blake thought that he wouldn’t be using that method much as he didn’t need 4 whole seconds to cast a single spell, but he learned that sometimes he would have saved much thinking and he wouldn’t have to draw his spells at the exact moment to get his spell to be as effective as possible.

With the greenish and brownish demon’s method, Blake could save time and prepare them beforehand and release them in the best moment possible instead of managing his time and timing it so that he would finish drawing his runes the moment he needed them.

Blake then once again reaffirmed his belief that he should not underestimate others’ methods and it would be in his best interest to learn as much as possible about spellcasting.

Suddenly, whimpering sounds traveled to Blake’s ear, breaking his thoughts.

The two wolves that had been nailed by the two earth spikes were apparently still alive as the earth spikes went through the middle of their bodies instead of their heads.

And the pain of having a person-sized earth spike was enough for the proud wolves to release a pity whimpering sounds that alerted the rest of the wolves.

.....

The remaining three wolves weren’t fools, and even before the two wolves whimpers, they had already realized from the wave of darkness elements that they felt earlier, the fact that two of their kin had been nailed unmoving in place that they couldn’t fight against the small creature that suddenly appeared before them.

So when Blake noticed the whimpering, the three other wolves had already turned their bodies, ready to run away as far away as possible from the lethal danger that they were currently faced with.

If Blake were to use the earth spikes again to try and nail the remaining three wolves, then Blake would have a pretty hard time doing it as the wolves were fast in their own rights, and even his two hands couldn’t draw three sets of runes in just a split second.

‘Unless I could somehow draw runes without using my hands, it’s impossible to catch three of them with the earth spike.’

‘Maybe I should try drawing runes with my toes...’ Blake thought to himself as he wiggled his toes.

Blake’s head might have thought of unnecessary things and gone elsewhere instead of focusing on the three wolves that were still alive, but his hand was already reacting to the three wolves that tried to run away from him.

While It was true that it was pretty much impossible for the current him to catch the three wolves with the new improved earth spike spell. That wasn’t the case if Blake were to use another spell.

With just one of his fingers moving, Blake started drawing another familiar spell that he had used dozens if not hundreds of times when he hunted in the forest.

In just a second, Blake finished drawing the runes as they flashed and disappeared into the air.

More darkness elements, even more abundant than when Blake used the mass marking spell, started gathering in the area, more accurately, around the three wolves that had Blake’s marking spell attached to their bodies.

The wolves felt the massive amount of darkness elements gathering around them, which led to them increasing their speed even more by pushing out every energy they had in their body to their legs to make themselves run even slightly faster.

And while it’s true that the wolves were fast, they were slow compared to the demonic birds.

And the only creatures that had survived Blake’s spell that were currently following the three wolves were only the demonic birds.

From all directions, no matter where they were going, be it left, right, front, or back, dozens of darkness spikes came out of the ground, cutting off the three wolves’ every way out.

The reason why Blake didn’t think much about the three surviving wolves was that he had already done with his experiment and there was no need for him to waste his time hunting every wolf with the dark earth spike.

With his marking spells attached to them, a single spell was all that he needed to finish them.

Blake just watched the scene where the three wolves had their limbs stabbed by a darkness spike, fell to the ground, and then stabbed with more darkness spikes happening in front of him with calmness.

Blake didn’t feel anything seeing the scene in front of him as he just waited for the spell to kill off the three wolves and give him their souls as their souls were the only necessary thing that he needed from them.

Blake then saw the two wolves that had been whimpering had completely stopped producing any sounds the moment the darkness element gathered for the myriad of darkness tendril spells.

But seeing the absence of a soul floating above their bodies, and their still opening eyes, Blake walked over to them while casting two darkness bullet spells with each hand.

Blake then held the two spells from activating before his hands were directly in front of the two wolves’ heads and released them.

Different from the creatures that had scales covering their bodies, or the brownish demon that somehow had an unimaginably tough skull, the two wolves’ skulls weren’t even as strong as a thick tree trunk.

And a single darkness bullet was enough to blast them apart and pluck their souls out of their bodies.

Sometime after Blake finished killing the two wolves, the myriad of darkness tendril spells finally finished manifesting, and the three other wolves’ souls also floated above their bodies.

Now that Blake had finished his experiment and got himself some snacks, Blake ate three of the five souls, then brought the two other souls to give to Robus before continuing his journey with the gorilla.

Blake had another agenda this time instead of casually hunting in the forest and gathering souls as usual.

It had been about a week after the incident that made Vera lock herself in her basement without coming out at all except for when giving him the bracelet that he currently wore on his wrist.

And even though Blake couldn’t get the answers from Vera yet, he wanted to know what happened to Vera.

Hence his other agenda was to investigate and find out what had happened that made Vera act like that.
