220 Misunderstanding

Hamilton went straight towards Vincent’s waiting room after threatening that crazy werewolf and snatching the handkerchief from him.

‘That bastard was one hell of a lunatic. Why the hell was he even trying to frame Vincent anyway? Just for fun? I don’t think Vincent managed to piss anyone off when I was with him the whole time,’ Hamilton was screaming in his head and running all the possible scenarios as to why that werewolf would target Vincent.

He furrowed his brows and wondered to himself, ‘Or was there any other reason behind targeting Vincent? What would he have achieved if Vincent was accused of murder?’

He sighed when he couldn’t think of any other reasons besides that werewolf being a pure evil who relished causing chaos and hurting others.

‘Either that or he actually wanted to start an interracial war by lighting a spark tonight. What better way to start a war than by planting the seed of doubt between both races?’

Hamilton scoffed and then mumbled to himself, ” At first, I thought that that werewolf was someone who wasn’t in the right state of their mind. But he is actually pretty smart, isn’t he?”

“The werewolves would have actually believed that Vincent killed one of their men. And we would have thought that they were deliberately trying to frame us because Vincent wouldn’t have killed anyone for real. And since both sides would refuse to take the blame and apologize, it wouldn’t take any time for the fire of hatred to spread, ultimately leading to fights breaking out.” He chuckled to himself and then appreciated Romulus’ ingenuity.

He kept on thinking about all sorts of things and linking them until he reached in front of Vincent’s room. He knocked on the door thinking that Vincent was inside. “Vincent, can I talk to you for a second?” he asked.

However, when he didn’t get an answer, he tried opening the door. Since the door was unlocked, he entered the room while mumbling, “Vincent, you better be in the mood to get lectured by me.”

.....

Hamilton stopped after taking a few steps inside the room. He was surprised to see that the room was empty.

“Now where did he go when I was ready to give him an earful? Did he already go back to the hall?” He crossed his arms in front of his chest and then mumbled again, “But he couldn’t have gone back to the hall, could he? As far as I can tell, there’s only one way to go to the hall from here, and I was standing there in the path. He should still be around unless he decided to jump out of the window and run around the garden to reach the other corridors of the castle.”

Hamilton nodded to himself and instantly stormed out of the room so that he wouldn’t miss Vincent while he was staying there inside the room.

And after getting out of the room, he pulled the door close and thought, ‘Now I have one more thing to scold him for. How could he just leave his room unlocked, and without anyone in here to attend to it? That werewolf could easily come in here and plant a dead body or something.’

Hamilton heaved a sigh and then looked left and right, contemplating where Vincent could have gone. ‘He said he was hungry and was going to see his blood servant. Since he isn’t in his room, maybe he is in the room that was assigned to the servants.’

He couldn’t think of any other places where Vincent could have gone. And since he didn’t hear any screams or pleas for help, he didn’t think that Vincent was out there, attacking some werewolves or humans in the blindness of his hunger.

‘He doesn’t look like a vampire who would go crazy like that,’ he thought as he made his way toward the room where the servants were.

However, while on the way, he stopped in front of one particular door when he heard someone mentioning Vincent’s name.

“Lord Vincent, please.”

‘Did I just hear someone say his name?’ Hamilton instantly frowned and tiptoed closer to that door. He eavesdropped on the conversation that was going on inside.

“I can go and call Samuel. It won’t even take a minute for him to arrive here.”

‘Tilla?’ Hamilton had a look of concern on his face when he recognized the voice. He instantly lifted his hand to open the door and see if Vincent was trying to dig his fangs into Tilla.

However, he stopped when he heard what Vincent said.

“Oh, but I want you, not Samuel.”

Hamilton raised his brows and twisted his lips downward in a sarcastic manner. The way Vincent said those words, he assumed that Vincent was trying to do something else to Tilla, not feed on her.

‘Okay...’ he smirked and turned on his heels. And as he walked back toward the hall, he thought to himself, ‘Looks like my boy is finally making his move on her. Ah! It would have been a shame if I had walked in and ruined the moment for them. Thankfully, I stopped before I did that.’

Hamilton laughed and choked, and then dramatically repeated what Vincent had said earlier, “Oh, but I want you, not Samuel...” He burst into laughter again and mumbled, “Good lord! He could have stopped at ‘But I want you’. Why did he have to ruin it by adding ‘Not Samuel’? It sounded as if he was trying to make a move on Samuel before he tried to do it with Tilla.”

His eyes fell on a person who he thought looked familiar.

When that person came close enough, he bowed to Hamilton and said, “Good evening, Milord.”

It finally clicked in Hamilton’s mind that this very person was the one called Samuel. He instantly chuckled; he was trying hard not to laugh out loud.

When Hamilton kept on standing there while looking at him, Samuel looked at Hamilton in confusion and asked, “Milord, is... is there something I can do for you?”

Hamilton cleared his throat and then nodded his head. And he ordered while trying his best to maintain his composure, “Oh, yes. I noticed that Vincent’s room wasn’t properly locked. Would you mind locking it properly so that the others can’t easily get in?”

“Oh, I am extremely sorry, Milord. I will lock the room right away.” Samuel bowed to Hamilton and ran towards Vincent’s room.

Hamilton kept on snickering as he walked in the opposite direction.

“Oh...” he suddenly widened his eyes when he saw a man stumbling at the same corner where there were glass shards. “See... someone got hurt for real!” he mumbled while displaying anger at that mad werewolf who had caused such a mess in the corridor.
