Child of Destiny

Chapter 754 Hunting A Vampire (Part 2)

...

Boom!

Leonard swung his battle axe as strong as he could, seemingly planning to squash his opponent with it. But not long after, he couldn't help but knit his eyebrows as felt that he hit a hard wall instead.

Then he saw Christine blocking the blade of his battle axe with her wings that seemed to materialize through blood weaponization.

"Hey, handsome. Aren't you a little too impatient? We still need to do some warmup before proceeding to the main event," said Christine seductively before snapping with her fingers.

Leonard quickly jumped away from his current position and dodged a group of blood spikes that shot up from the ground.

And quickly after his feet touched the ground, he continuously hopped backward to avoid the blood spears that were raining down at him.

Clang!

At the same time, he was also blocking the attacks of the vampires that were pouncing at him from every direction.

But despite the heavy pressure that was directed at him, Leonard was still calmly handling the fight relatively well. In any case, he already accomplished his main task for now. Limiting the numbers of vampires that were surging towards the village was the only concern that he needed to think about for the time being so that Arthur and the others could organize a proper defensive line.

The seemingly inexhaustible number of vampires was really troublesome for them after all, so it was better to limit it for as much as they could. And now that he found the 'summoner', the number of vampires that were attacking the other side should be lowered significantly.

As if she was able to read what was running inside Leonard's head, Christine started giggling all of a sudden before muttering with a soft voice. "How foolish! Do you honestly think that my babies are going to stop attacking the village just because I am occupied with you?"

"I may enjoy our 'date' but I still have my priorities, you know? I may get scolded by Big Sister if I get distracted a little," she added in a teasing manner.

Leonard slightly knitted his eyebrows when he heard that as he found her words unpleasant to his ears.

Well, it might be a little different if they were from a certain someone who also teased him regularly. At the very least, he was already accustomed to hearing such words from that person.

Being reminded by her during the battle was not like him, but he felt much better dealing with her compared to this vampire girl in front of him.

"I actually also happened to be in a hurry, so how about we pick up the pace a little?" said Leonard before summoning one of his Elemental Companions to initiate an Elemental Beast Fusion.

The one that he chose this time was the golden mammoth since it focused more on overwhelming strength alongside a touch of strong defensive capabilities.

From what he could see, this Elemental Beast Fusion fitted his current situation since he needed to equally divide his focus between offense and defense given that he was currently surrounded by vampires from all sides.

'With this number of vampires limiting my movements, taking her down was going to be a little troublesome. I should hold my ground for now while waiting with Arthur and the others to clean up their side,' he thought to himself while chopping off yet another vampire.

'Though, I am really curious where did she get this many vampires. Don't tell me the plague already spread to the other villages,' he added to his thoughts before wearing a solemn look on his face.

In the meantime, Christine was also quite troubled even though she was not showing it on the outside. Her mission in this place was to create as much chaos as possible while her big sister was looking for clues on how to get over the towering wall of ice at the border of the region.

The first time that she this powerful group, she thought that they were rather interesting since it was new for her to fight someone on their level.

She was quite bored after fighting some noobs in the previous kingdom that she was in. And that was also the reason why she was starting to get tired of this game.

Meeting powerful players such as the members of this particular group made her a little excited. But after a couple of exchanges with this Beastman in front of her, she could already tell that she was still far from being the match of such a monster.

If not for a couple of lifesaving skills that she had in her arsenal and these vampires that were helping her, then this fight should already be over ages ago.

'I guess big sister is right, there are still a lot of strong players out there that I don't know about,' thought Christine to herself while keeping her eyes sharp.

She didn't want to experience what happened earlier where her opponent appeared behind her like a ghost. It was really something unpleasant to her. She might even get a heart attack if such a thing continued to happen.

She then stretched her hand to her inventory to take out a crimson scroll. "If this continues, I have no choice but to use this scroll that I get from big sister."

Reaching this point, she suddenly paused for a brief moment before muttering. "Now that I think about it. I wonder what she is doing right now. She left me the job to attract the attention of any troublesome players that may show up, but I still haven't heard anything from her since then."

"I wonder if I can finally see his majesty this time?" she added to her thoughts before turning her focus to Leonard.

*******

In the meantime, somewhere in the Sky Deceiving Valley, there was a female player who seemed to be running away for her life.

Given her features such as the curved horns on each side of her temples, the reptilian scales on her skin, and the sharp fangs sticking out of her mouth, it was pretty clear that her race was not ordinary. To be exact, she looked like a dragonkin that was mentioned in the legends of the game.

But contrary to how the legends portrayed her kin, her current appearance was rather terrible. The look on her was clearly showing her fear. It was as if she encountered a horrifying existence.

"Why are those two in this place? Didn't the information that they give me say that this quest is only available to our race? How come a Human and a Half-Elf got involved?" said the female dragonkin while running away.

She didn't even bother turning her head to her back, afraid that she was being cased by those terrifying existence.

"Did I get tricked? No, it is impossible, we are bound by the system contract!" she muttered, trying to figure out where their plan went wrong. She had been reassured that the righteous council would not interfere in what was happening in here, so there shouldn't be a reason why those two to be here.

"Tsk! There is no need to overthink these things. I just need to inform the Cults about the situation right now," she muttered to herself before planning to open a communication channel.

But before she could even do anything, someone suddenly appeared in front of her, blocking her path.

"Oh-oh~! I can't let you do that. Do you have any idea how much trouble I have to go through to keep this place away from the attention of everyone?" said Shiella as she appeared in the path where the female dragonkin was heading.

At the same time, she also made a snap with her fingers, sending a strong ripple in the air. There were also a couple of devices that were summoned alongside her actions, which also created a prism-like barrier that enclosed the area.

Due to that, the female dragonkin couldn't contact the outside. And when she realized that, the solemn look that she currently had become even darker.

"You know me, don't you? After all, you are not going to run away right after seeing us," asked Shiella while walking closer to the female dragonkin. And each step that she took, the ground that she was stepping on was turning into a frozen land as if winter came close.

The latter wanted to run away once again after seeing that scene. But unfortunately, someone appeared a few meters behind her. It was a hooded player with a pair of silver swords hanging on each side of his waist.

She might not be able to see the appearance of that player due to the cloak that was covering his body but could already guess who was that person given the rumor that she saw in the online forums earlier.

At first, she thought that this guy came in this Kingdom to challenge the Frost Goddess. But given that they were currently traveling together, it was pretty clear that it wasn't the case.

'This is bad, the operation is going to be at risk of failing if this continues,' thought the female dragonkin as she sneakily reached out a scroll on her back.
