Chapter 54 - Slighted.

Jing Lihua went straight to her room and closed the door. Memories rushed to her mind.

"No. No. No..." She placed her hands over her ears and shook her head vehemently. Ever since she had lost her everything in her last life, she had sworn to never let herself fall for those sorts of feelings. But what she had felt with Li Zhiqiang... even if they didn’t do anything, was stronger than her experience with Su Liwei.

She pushed back those memories that wanted to emerge into the depths of her mind. Whatever her relation was with that crafty man, whatever was hidden in her heart, she wanted it to stay hidden.

That crazy man was bad news for her.

Not long after there was a gentle knock at the door. Jing Lihua’s face twitched. She knew who it was. She didn’t want to answer. After a long silence, she expected the person would have already left and sighed in relief. But to her dismay, there came another knock. After five such knocks, she took couldn’t tolerate the slow torture and opened the door.

"Is there anything?" She managed to say in a calm tone. She pretended nothing happened. She didn’t want to give him any satisfaction that he had any sort of effect on her.

"Are you alright?" Li Zhiqiang inquired quietly. No more words. His soft eyes conveyed all the unsaid feelings of genuine concern. The feelings that couldn’t be faked in words.

"What would happen to me?" She said with a frown continuing to pretend. But her heart rate picked up.

There was a flash in Li Zhiqiqng’s eyes and he walked in without being invited. Jing Lihua was amazed at his boldness. She turned at looked at his back. He seemed to be inspecting the place."This is not your home."

But Li Zhiqiqang seemed to be thinking a completely different thing. "So blatant." He looked around and frowned. The room wasn’t the VIP one. How dare those petty managers slight his JingJing when his secretary obviously gave them a call. It seemed he needed to teach them a lesson. They were surely being blatant. Had they expected that he would not know?

Question marks appeared above Jing Lihua’s head. She shook them off. After all, she was addressed to a crazy man. Someone whose words would be random and incoherent.

"If you won’t mind, Mr. Li, this is my apartment. Would you please not come in if you are not invited in?"

"I mind."

Jing Lihua. "..."

"I didn’t invite you." He threw a glance at her before making a quick call.

Jing Lihua opened her mouth then closed it. She almost gnashed her teeth. He had obviously kept his door open for her to walk in. But she had a feeling he wouldn’t admit it.

"State your purpose." She said grumpily.

He raised his phone. "Dinner."

Would it kill him to say a few more words?

"Do you want to have dinner with me?" She asked with suspicion.

Silence.

Somehow she knew silence was his way of saying ’Yes’.

"And do you think I would agree to eat with you?"

Silence.

"In that case you are mistaken."

He tilted his head and pointed at her bandaged leg. "You need nutrition. I wouldn’t be able to steal you if you keep ending in hospital."

Jing Lihua didn’t know how to reply. He was impossible. She hated it when others took the upper hand. She liked to be the one in the control; the absolute control.

She was thinking about what to say next to drive him out when they heard an urgent knock at the door.

Li Zhiqiang straightened and strode towards the door expecting the food delivery.

"Stop." Jing Lihua pulled him back and pushed him into a room. She looked aghast. "Stay here. Don’t get out."

Before he could say anything, the door was shut on his face. She had called him Mr. Li. It seemed she was getting more and more suspicious.

"Zhao Liying" Jing Lihua greeted her with a smile. After the attempted abduction, she asked her bodyguard not to let anyone other than her friends in. Not even room service was allowed. And with the impatient knocking, she could easily tell that it was Zhao Liying. The last thing she wanted was to have her friend see a hot man in her room... late at night.

"Well... Um... We didn’t get to talk after I..." Zhao Liying tried to hide her guilty face.

To her good luck, Mei Xiu didn’t inform Zhao Liying about Jing Lihua’s disappearance yesterday. If she had, Jing Lihua would have been being strangled by a hug right now.

"After you sold me off to my grandfather...?" Jing Lihua teased her.

"It’s not my fault. Look I had a flight. I didn’t have a choice."

"That’s not the way to apologize. If that’s what you are here for."

"Who said I’m here to apologize." Zhao Liying looked around to change the topic "You know what. Su Lanfan is here. Be careful. After your epic battle on the internet, she is filled with deep resentment toward you." Zhao Liying explored the place. She didn’t look satisfied. The hotel was obviously ignoring her by giving her such a room. "Are you sure you are alright with this room? Would you want me to give a call to my manager?" Zhao Liying suspected it was Su family behind it.

Jing Lihua was thinking about asking Mei Xiu about the matter with Su Lanfen. After all, she had been too busy prepare for the meeting with that ’Devil’ that she stopped following the Su Lanfen matter. She didn’t know what had happened after the video was released. "It’s alright." Her eyes hid resentment. "They would regret before I even return to Beijing." Because before that she would have had that meeting with President Li. And with the alliance of such an important person, she would be impeachable.

Zhao Liying threw a smile at Jing Lihua. "I like this Xiao Hua."

They chattered for some time. Jing Lihua felt at ease when finally Zhao Liying decided to leave but just then, a loud ring bell that came from Jing Lihua’s bedroom shattered the peace of the room.
