Chapter 114 - You deliberately wanted me to come
The reception lady was wise. She took some time to think but in the end, chose to trust Jing Lihua. She quickly walked out and bowed vehemently in front of Jing Lihua. "President, I'm innocent. They asked me to notify them when you arrive. Please forgive me. If I didn't do as they asked, they would have me resigned."
"It seems they are really expecting me at today's meeting." Jing Lihua pondered. "Is that all?" She looked at the bowing woman.
The woman cowered being under the scrutinizing icy gaze and bowed even deeply. "President, trust me. This is all I know."
"Alright, you can get up now. What is your name?" Jing Lihua's voice was very sweet yet to the woman it sounded eerily haunting.
"S-Shen Lei." She shuddered.
"Shen Lei, no need to be this courteous." Jing Lihua gently held Shen Lei's arm and stopped her stop bowing once again. "I will remember this name. I keep my words. If you are innocent and you told me everything you knew, I'll protect you. But if it is not so..." The smile on Jing Lihua's face said everything needed to be told.
Shen Lei bowed again. This was all she could.
Jing Lihua silently wondered. 'I didn't scare her too much, did I?' Jing Lihua shrugged off the thought. She had a board of directors to fight right now. Jing Lihua found her way to the conference Hall. Along the way, whenever an employee saw her, she could see surprised and anxious expressions on his face. "It seems everyone is expecting some great turmoil in the company."
Jing Lihua paused in front of the door of the conference Hall. The next moment, she opened the door without any hesitation and walked in.
"Presumptuous!" Qian He shouted when a sudden bang of the bluntly opened door interrupted his speech. His outburst followed a sudden hush in the conference hall.
Qian He was sitting in a position where he couldn't see who had entered. And having decided that he must show his influence over the company today, he stuck to an aggressive response. He didn't even turn to look back who was it, implying he didn't care and hence to manifest his position. And that was a mistake. "What are you guys waiting for? Someone get those imbeciles out of here. Fire them immediately!" He had assumed that the people must be some secretary.
"Oh, I'm sorry Mr. Qian, I'm afraid you do not have the authority to do that."
Hearing that cold yet familiar voice, Qian He froze. The silence in the room was louder than anything. 'Damm it! Why did that reception lady didn't give him a call? Soo unreliable!" Qian He cursed under his breath and calmed himself.
"President, we hadn't expected you to arrive today." Under his cunning smile, he said.
"I bet you did, Mr. Qian." Around the black round table, Jing Lihua noticed he was taking the seat reserved for the President. There was no other seat, untaken. Her lips curled up into a snarky smile. 'Qian He, you really had grown some guts, hadn't you?' She looked at Wang Yi. Wang Yi understood everything and left at once.
"Where would she sit now? Would she ask someone to get up?
"Shouldn't one of us give up our seat for her?"
"Are you mad? Qian He wouldn't let you off. Just stay out of it. We are no more than sidekicks. Stay away, stay safe. We just have to choose whichever side wins."
"Wouldn't it make headlines? The company's President couldn't find a chair in her own conference room?"
The whispers came to a sudden halt.
Everyone saw with incredulity as the man brought back from God knows where a huge chair over his shoulders in no time. He placed it on the most noticeable spot, right opposite to Qian He. Jing Lihua walked to it easily and sat across it.
Jing Lihua crossed her arms over the table and with a calm smile, looking unconcerned she asked. "Shall we begin." And very non chalantly, she asked politely from a lady. "Can I have a glass of water?"
Everyone was speechless. That development was unexpected.
"I wonder how this meeting's occurrence came to your knowledge. I clearly recall, Ms. Jing, you were not invited here today." Qian He burst when his plan resulted in total failure. Instead, it made him look like a joker. He would get back at her.
"Why? I took the liberty to invite myself." Jing Lihua was not at all angered at his derogatory remark. Instead, she was very calm with a gentle smile. "And whatever happens in a company under may would not find any way to void my intelligence." Jing Lihua accepted the water glass with a polite thank you. Then with a sarcastic expression, she said. "And how very rude of you Mr. Qian, to say I was not invited. You intentionally let everyone know, leaving subtle hints about the meeting aimed for the rebellious activities, not even attempting to hide your trails. Instead, you conduct the meeting in the conference hall out in open and expect me to believe I was not invited?" Jing Lihua laughed. "That was a very welcome invitation from my point of view."
Everyone was speechless. They have heard that this woman was a true fox but it was the first time they get to witness her act. And it felt quite terrifying to be standing on the opposite side of that-that Devil.
Qian He felt the suspicious eyes on him. "Don't delusion yourself, Ms. Jing." Qian He almost gnashed his teeth. The way he called her Ms. Jing and not President was an obvious sign of disrespect. "We had to hide if we were at wrong. We are being rightful so we have the liberty to hold the meeting at the conference room." His words sounded urgent. Only be sounding rightful he could gather the directors for his cause.
"So are you saying you really didn't expect me to show up here today?" Jing Lihua's eyes flashed with something akin to a trap. "You... deliberately didn't want me to come?"
