Chapter 1 - Soulshattering Betrayal.
"Why?" Jing Lihua was pushed down brutally to the cold floor. She wiped away the blood from her face and found a smirk unfolding on the face of the man on the sofa. "Why must you do it? All I did was love you truly. What did I do wrong...? We were married. We had decided to spend the rest of our lives together, Su Liwei. You had sworn to protect me. You had promised to make me the happiest woman in the world. Everything was so perfect. We had everything we wanted. We could spend the rest of our lives together but you..." Jing Lihua tightened her fists. He had ruined everything. The pain was unbearable. But it was not the physical pain from her injuries. It was emotional pain. "You said you loved me." She helplessly whispered in the end.
Her words were fruitless on the heartless man in front of her. After listening to her, he merely laughed in the end.
"I told you that I loved you and you believed me?" His face was full of ridicule. He glanced at her contemptuously before rising. He walked to a drawer and picked out a black shining gun. Jing Lihua didn’t even flinch as she saw her death approaching. Her calm eyes were fixated on him. He turned back and walked to her. "It was your fault for believing me. If you weren’t blinded by your fantasies, you could have seen right through me. But you let your emotions manipulate you"
Su Liwei prepared the gun. In the big room, there were only two of them.
Jing Lihua was just ten years old when one day, she met a quiet boy named Su Liwei in a small park. They both were alike. Neglected by their families, left in a park on their own. The similarity of their situation led them close. Soon they became best friends. Ever since then, Jing Lihua knew he was the one for her. Whenever she thought about someone with whom she could spend her life, his name would automatically appear.
They both grew and their paths separated. But Jing Lihua never forgot him. In her heart, he was the only one. Fate had it so. They met again. Her grandfather brought them together. They were engaged. They married. Jing Lihua thought the happiest moments of life would start after that. But she didn’t know that after that day, a horrible nightmare would start that would shatter her world.
"Was it all fake? All of it?" Jing Lihua’s eyes had silent tears.
Su Liwei stared at her coldly. He didn’t reply.
After her marriage, Jing Lihua had inherited the Tang enterprise from her maternal grandfather. Her position was strong. Envied by many. Jing Lihua thought Su Liwei loved her. She trusted him. She gave everything in his hands. To keep him happy, she stayed at her home away from the office, to be an idol wife in his eyes. She thought maybe if she did so, he would like her more.
But no.
It had always been something else that was in his mind.
"Would you not even tell me why did you do it all? Don’t you find it ridiculous that I will die without even knowing what was it all for?" She smiled self depreciatingly.
Su Liwei went down on his knee in front of her. His one hand grasped her chin while the other hand a gun. His eyes were cold and clear. For the first time, she clearly saw what he really was under his mask.
"No?" Jing Lihua laughed when he didn’t reply. "If you are going to kill me then fine. You have already killed my grandfather. There is nothing else left in this world for me to want to keep my life anyway. If you are not going to tell me the reason before you kill me, then that’s also fine" Her eyes were fearless; her sharp and clear eyes stared into his eyes with unparalleled strength unwilling to be swayed. "But when you kill me, do it while looking into my eyes. Do not look away when your bullet pierce me"
Su Liwei’s cold expression wavered for a second before returning to normal. His grip loosened.
"Do it, Su Liwei. Don’t let your emotions manipulate you. Isn’t it what you have always wanted?"
His grasp on her face tightened to a painful extent. He didn’t intend to kill her. But the way she was now if he told her the truth... "You do not care for your life, do you?"
"Would it surprise you if I said No?" Jing Lihua said with a smile.
Su Liwei pushed her away, angrily, making her fall on the cold floor. He rose and raked a hand through his hair. He did not know what to do. Their eyes matched and they froze for a moment.
"I..." At the same time, the door was thrown open. A woman with a protruding round stomach rushed in.
"You haven’t killed her yet?"
"Get out," Su Liwei coldly said.
The woman rushed into his arms. "You have to do it, Su Liwei. For our child. as long as she is alive, we can’t be together happily."
"Little sister, what are you trying to do?" Jing Lihua laughed "He knows the baby in your stomach is not his. He has been playing with you all along. Just like he had been playing with me. Have you not realized it by now?"
Jing Tian’s eyes widened in shock. She was appalled. "How dare you spread lies..." She was horrified and frantically looked at Su Liwei "Brother Su, don’t listen to her words. she is just trying to get a chance to keep her life by creating misunderstanding between us. Brother Su, look at me. You love me right?" Jing Tian was desperate.
Su Liwei coldly pushed her away. "Take her away"
"Brother Su, No..." She cried as a few men grabbed her and pulled her away "You F.u.c.k.i.n.g Bitch! I’ll not forgive you!" Once her cries died out, silence dominated the room once again.
"You want to know why I did all that?" Su Liwei’s eyes looked unfathomable. "Your mother..."
A shrill noise rang out from her behind. It was followed by two more noises. Jing Lihua didn’t feel any pain. Just something that pierced her heart. In front of her eyes, she saw a horrified face of Su Liwei.
So strange. He had never looked so scared before. Her body fell down. But she didn’t even feel the impact of fall.
In front of her eyes, a scene replayed.
’Grandfather, why did mother name me Lihua?’ An innocent chid had once asked.
’Lihua means pear blossom. It is a symbol of spring. When your mother married your father, she was very sad. But then she had you’ Her grandfather laughed and pinched her small nose adoringly.
’Grandpaw don’t do it. I don’t like it!’ She glared at her grandfather.
’You gave her hope and lightened our world. You gave her a reason to live on’
Unconsciously, Jing Lihua’s hand reached out to touch those happy memories, but in a moment, they disappeared like they never existed in the first place. And so eternal darkness swallowed her whole.
