Lee Seng opened the familiar door and flicked the lights on. He wandered over to the raised chair and sat in it. He scooted his butt all the way back and leaned backwards. The rough chair was still annoying to sit in. The Creator shut the door behind him and moved towards the computer, turning it on.
"How has recovery been?" The Creator asked.
"Alright." Lee Seng answered.
"Are you still suffering from those migraines?"
"They've died down after you gave me those pills."
"How's physical training going? I heard from Manny you've been trying to get back into running, again. I told you to not push yourself too hard. Are you going slow like I requested?" The Creator turned and leaned against the counter top as he folded his arms. He looked at his son with one of those parental looks. The 'you should listen to me or else' look that Lee Seng had found weird.
"I'm fine. I can run a couple miles at best before I get tired. I'm not even pushing myself that hard." Lee Seng tried to quell whatever 'worries' were in his father. "Between running at home and doing my classes, everything's been fine. You don't have to worry, Dad."
"It's my right to worry. Your mother would kill me if I didn't take care of you!" The Creator ran his thumb across his neck and made a death noise as he tilted his head to the side. Lee Seng chuckled and nodded. "I just want to make sure you're doing fine," the Creator turned around and began to tinker with the computer.
"Yeah, yeah." Lee Seng nodded. He looked to the opposite side of the room, smile immediately fading.
'How long do I have to keep up this facade?' Lee Seng wondered. 'I think I'll die from acting like we have an actual talk-able relationship before I figure out what happened to me…'
"Alright, you know the drill. Shirt comes off." The Creator instructed. Lee Seng turned around, immediately becoming sunny and bright, again and did what the Creator instructed. He threw his hoodie and shirt onto the counter as the Creator moved over and started to attach the usual stuff onto Lee Seng.
"How long is this gonna last? I wanna be back in time for dinner with the others." Lee Seng asked, impatiently.
"It'll be quick. An hour at most. Be still."
"I am still." Lee Seng retorted. The Creator did his thing and made sure Lee Seng's vitals and information were appearing on the holographic screen in real time. Once he was satisfied with that, he pulled a case from within his lab coat and opened it. There was two needles filled with black liquid.
"I'm going to inject you with this, again." The Creator told him. Lee Seng watched as the Creator plucked one of the needles out and shut the case, setting it off to the side. "Hold still." The Creator flicked his free hand and a rubbing alcohol wipe appeared in his hand. He wiped the spot and injected the black liquid into Lee Seng's arm.
Lee Seng's eyes focused on the case. He watched the case slowly open and reveal the needle. He quietly began to make it float in the air to his hoodie and shirt.
"All done." The Creator announced straightening his back. He began to turn when Lee Seng moved, making the holographic screen beep. "Lee Seng! I told you to be careful! Ah, stay there! I'll fix it!" In the midst of the chaos, Lee Seng quickly pulled the injection towards his hoodie and shirt, lifting the clothing and stuffing it underneath as he closed the case.
"I swear," the Creator muttered. "Does every boy go through this phase? You guys get all antsy and don't stay still… I thought that was a toddler thing… I can't wait until you're an adult. Maybe you'll kick those bad habits of yours…"
"What bad habits? I got everything under control!" Lee Seng shouted.
"You and your loud mouth. No wonder why your mother had headaches! You're always shouting!" The Creator shouted. He set the needle next to the case and turned around. The Creator fixed the hook up and looked at his son. "Let's move onto the next thing. Let's do a check physical check. Run the course."
"You sure?" Lee Seng asked.
"Yeah, I'm sure. I want to know how well you're improving."
"You said it yourself, Dad." Lee Seng moved up.
"Stay there!" The Creator pushed Lee Seng back into the seat. "You'll ruin the stuff!"
"You said for me to not take it hard. I already pushed myself tons with school today. Let's just wait a little longer, 'kay? I got homework to do still."
"Fine," the Creator answered after a long pause. "We'll skip the physical check for now. I don't want you coming back to me after I just got rid of you. I'll work on the computer for a bit. You stay put. Use your phone or whatever." The Creator turned and walked over to the computer. He began to work as Lee Seng dug into his pocket for his phone. There were messages from the group.
OO: We are having KBBQ at home tonight, right?
OO: I got held up at school today with a project. Just coming home now.
ET: Yup.
LW: Manny and I are out grabbing some extra stuff. You want us someone to get you? @SoulBoy
OO: I'm about to leave already. @SoulBoy doesn't have to get me.
RY: You sure? I can get you. @On 24/7 Surveillance stayed at school with me. I have his car. He's at his Dad's.
OO: Who's grabbing him later?
RY: He said he wanted to run home, but I'm going to grab him.
RY: Just stay at the Academic building, I'll come grab you two. (LS, ET, LW, MV liked this message.)
LS: I'll be done soon.
MV: He replied!
MV: You guys want anything in particular with KBBQ?
OO: I'm good.
RY: What we listed is good enough for me.
ET: I'm good, too.
LS: (Gave a thumbs up)
"Strange." The Creator's voice pulled Lee Seng off his phone. He clicked his phone off and looked at the Creator.
"What?" Lee Seng asked.
"Your Dark Matter levels are fluctuating, a lot. Did something happen to you?" The Creator looked at his son. Lee Seng shook his head. He couldn't think of anything that would do that sort of thing… that he wanted to share.
'That Magical Rewrite class change. I still don't know much about it…' Lee Seng sighed. A pop-up pulled up, notifying him of how much time he had left.
[2 Weeks Left]
'I still have two weeks before I can level the class up. Honestly, this whole Fox Spirit thing reminds me of a game… I should definitely practice using the Echo Scout skills. It'll come in handy if I can distort people with my Echo.'
"Lee Seng?" The Creator called his son out a bit louder.
"Huh?" Lee Seng asked looking at the Creator.
"You didn't hear what I was saying?" The Creator asked.
"Thinking about stuff." Lee Seng quickly responded. "What were you saying?" He adjusted himself in the rough chair. He didn't want to sit in it anymore.
"Your Dark Matter has been relatively low for the past two weeks. Last week it was, slightly, lower than the previous check-up but this time your DME levels are lower than last week. Did something happen? Are you having any side effects from the medicine I've been giving you?" The Creator folded his arms as he tried to study his son. He looked at his son with a worried look. Something Lee Seng wouldn't get used to, ever.
"No." Lee Seng shook his head after some thought. "Nothing's happened. I've been taking the migraine medicine to help me not have migraines, but even then, I'm still getting them. I can't use my power for long without getting the headaches, either. I think there's something mentally blocking me."
"Mentally blocking you?" The Creator raised his eyebrows. "What do you mean?" His voice was quiet when he asked that.
'I should be careful with what I say.' Lee Seng reminded himself.
"There could be a mental block from the accident." Lee Seng told him. "I've been trying to remember it and—"
"You've been attempting to remember? Dr. Valentin has told you that these sorts of things will come with time. The amnesia will fall off and you'll remember. Don't push yourself too hard."
"Yeah, but the mental block could be from the accident." Lee Seng studied the Creator as his Father's right cheek puffed for a moment. "What if that… blockage is inhibiting me from using my powers like I normally could? What if something's stopping me from doing that? Shouldn't I figure out the cause of it?"
"That's what I've been trying to do." The Creator sighed. He moved over to his son and gave him a worrisome look. "Dr. Valentin, myself, and the other doctors in the lab have been trying to figure out what's wrong with you. If you think it's some sort of mental block then we could do some therapy to help you with that. Maybe having someone go through with you in that would help. But I don't think it's a mental block, Lee Seng. I think it could be some sort of monster's DNA infecting you."
