Chapter 2767 - Protect the Young Master
Etherean Yuan Yin lowered her head, her eyes tearing up and bloodshot. She had no choice but to nod. "If I go, can Lu'er be freed?"
"What’re you thinking?" Yuan Yu knocked on her head and said, "When has she not been free? She's been happily with me ever since she managed to get with me!"
"Is that so?"
"Of course."
The other elders crossed their arms and pretended not to hear anything. At that moment, Yuan Yu took out a transmission stone.
"Young Master, we’ve obtained the order fragment. The sellers were rather reasonable. We're returning right away," said the person on the other end of the call.
"Good! Very good! Come back soon. I'll be waiting." Yuan Yu was all too elated.
"Understood, young master!"
The atmosphere in the cave was much more relaxed. Even Etherean Yuan Yin forced herself to smile at the news.
Yuan Yu looked down at her and thought, If I can get my third cosmic chart, I'll only be two levels beneath her. I won't have to fear her if she turns suicidal. I might even be able to get a taste of her here in the Xenoabyss. Even though he was quite young, relative to the rest, he loved older, married women like her. They were even more alluring to him than young maidens were. The other elders in the cave, apart from the poor etherean, relaxed and began chatting more casually.
"Our efforts over the past few hundred years of finding our way around in the Xenoabyss and forming close ties with the locals are paying off. We're getting more and more order fragments."
"The upper ceiling of the geniuses of our mundus is also rising. Young Master would’ve been considered the finest of them all a few thousand years ago!"
"He'll no doubt be the strongest rex mundi we've had to date."
They were intentionally boasting loudly for the young scion to hear. If it weren’t for the fact that elites above a certain level couldn't come to the Xenoabyss, the likes of them wouldn't have had a chance to serve their young master at all.
Hearing all that, Yuan Yu felt that things were going quite well. "Enough nonsense. A grade-three order fragment is still quite difficult to find. It isn’t that they’re pricey, but there's almost none for sale."
Hearing that, the peanut gallery's discussion intensified.
"To be honest, it's a huge waste of precious treasures to let the primitive specters here use them."
"We have Antiquitas Mortis to blame. They're far too conservative and forbid order fragments from being sold to outworlders."
"How could those primitive fools truly enjoy the benefits of amazing treasures like those?"
Yuan Yu impatiently stood at the entrance of the cave, squinting as hard as he could. "Come on.... Quicker!" He knew it was just about to arrive, but he simply couldn't wait!
"Huh?" His soul power was nothing to scoff at, so he had sharp senses. All of a sudden, he noticed a beam of purple light from ahead. "Attention!"
The elders knew how important their mission was. Their young master was the future of the mundus, so they hurriedly blocked the entrance of the cave with their bodies and summoned their nascent spirit beasts to launch their abilities.
"Protect the young master!"
"Let me!"
"Yuan Yin, go to the front!"
They knew that she was Yuan Yu's prey, so they wouldn't dare to leave her with him when chaos was about to go down, lest she take the chance to harm him.
All five of them got into position. The leader of the elders took Yuan Yu deeper into the cave while the other four defended, with Yuan Yin ready to take the first blow. "Who dares?!"
The tens of nascent spirit beasts had completely different forms and types, yet one thing was the same for all of them: their spiritforms were able to unleash abilities that were like totemic calamities!
A combination of white, spiritual storms went flying off into the distance. Little did they expect, however, that their foe was nothing but a single, tiny target. The purple beam slowed down as it hit the storm, but still managed to burst through it, charging past the nascent spirit beasts toward the nascent mediums!
Zi Zhen was so fast that the five elders furrowed their brows in worry.
"How tiny!" The nascent mediums didn't really care about size, since their nascent beasts could freely expand and contract, being even more flexible than totems. Their twenty-five nascent beasts with star counts of six hundred thousand shrank to more agile forms, compacting their power into denser forms.
"Who in the world are you?!" Yuan Yu seemed rather stunned. They had spent months surveying the place to find this hideout. How could someone charge straight at them from so far away?
The purple beam was so fast that they couldn't even get a good look at who it was, knowing nothing apart from the fact that they were a specter with five cosmic charts. The elders weren't too worried about that since there were five of them.
"Don't panic! It should be a fool from the Xenoabyss that’s come to die."
"Brother Feng, protect the young master. The four of us are enough to take care of this."
"Let's use our beasts' abilities to flatten her!"
"What in the world? How could someone be so bold?"
Their beasts coordinated much more effectively after shrinking. One could clearly see how they transitioned between spiritual and corporeal forms. When they were corporeal, their physical capabilities were at their peak, but when they spiritualized, their soul power got a great boost. The combined attack from twenty-five of them applied a lot of pressure and damage to Zi Zhen's astral brain. As the cosmic chart was needed to restore that kind of damage, enough attacks like those would prove to be fatal.
Tianming was outside the cave, stunned at the sight of the cloudy spirits. However, he wasn't too badly affected thanks to the Skysoul Tower.
Yin Chen kept him informed on how close the five who had gone to make the transaction were from the cave while he continued waiting for an opportunity. Through Yin Chen, he told Zi Zhen, "We don't have much time left. Use all you’ve got."
"Okay!" Zi Zhen let her power surge, causing her hair to ignite as she changed forms. Like a gigantic beast, she pounced into the crowd, blocking cosmic artifacts with her bare hands and punching through the chest of a nascent medium before grasping directly at the cosmic chart behind them!
"She's strong!" cried the man called Yuan Feng. "Young Master, you have to return first. Come back in after we’ve taken care of the rest." That was their safest option; outworlders could simply leave if they were being robbed.
"Surely, there's no need for that. She only has five cosmic charts! Why’re you so freaked out?" Yuan Yu said with a smirk.
"Why don't we also have Yuan Long and the rest directly return to our mundus to hand the order fragment to you there? You can come back in and use them once you receive our signal," Yuan Feng suggested.
"It takes a long time to pass through the white sea and reach the Xenoabyss again. I can't wait a moment more. If I go out and come back in, it'll take at least two hours." If he hadn’t wanted to get the order fragments as soon as possible, he wouldn't have waited in the Xenoabyss. He could have stayed outside and waited for the others to return with them and it would still be much safer, even if he had to come back in to use them for the best effect.
"Enough. That's just a fifth-level cosmic cartographer, so take care of it already. You should join the fight too."
Right as he said that, Zi Zhen broke through their defenses and charged toward him. Even if he tried to escape using his interdimensional line, it would be too late! The fearsome aura from the ghostly tattoo on her forehead crept toward him in an instant.
We didn't have much of a chance of succeeding in the first place, but Yin Chen said that this Yuan Yu is arrogant and ignorant. It was true after all. Zi Zhen finally began trusting Yin Chen's observational capabilities.
