97 A Necessary Sacrifice

Aloy suppressed her discomfort and looked at Lear with a smile. “Uncle, don’t lie to me. Where’s the new spirit beast you just tamed?”

Lear pretended not to know anything and looked around. “My good niece, you must have made a mistake. Don’t you already know what spirit beasts I’m using?”

“Oh, really? Did I make a mistake just now?” Aloy pretended to frown in confusion.

“You must be mistaken!” Lear said with certainty from the side. “My good niece, don’t think too much. Come with me, let’s get out of this wormhole first.”

At this point, Lear’s heart ached as he held Aloy’s hand.

“Look at you, you entered the wormhole in such a hurry. You didn’t even bring a crystal. You’ll easily get lost in the wormhole like this.”

“Let go!” With a cold face, Aloy struggled to break free from Lear’s hand. “I remember the way back. I can go back by myself!”

“Is that so?” Lear sneered as he looked at Aloy.

At this point, he really did not know how Aloy could still be so calm. In this wormhole, one would be dead without a pathfinding crystal. Since Aloy was so confident, he would let her reflect on herself here. He would come back to pick up her later.

“Then I’ll take my leave first. My good niece, you may continue to wander this place by yourself.” After saying this, Lear turned around and quickly walked away.

Aloy looked at the disappearing Lear with disdain. The cogs in his mind were obviously turning! Aloy watched her uncle coldly.

‘Did he just take advantage of the fact that I don’t have a pathfinding crystal in my hand to threaten me? What a pity…’

As someone who had been reincarnated from the future, not only had she mastered the art of entering and leaving the wormhole freely, she even knew how to find the core of the wormhole and close it by force.

On this matter, Lear had miscalculated.

However, there was one thing that Aloy was particularly concerned about. She squinted her eyes and looked at the huge exotic beast hidden in the darkness.

‘What method did he use to successfully control these exotic beasts? Could it be that he has found something special in the wormhole?’

At the thought of this, Aloy could not help but feel a chill. In her original world, Lear was considered a person with evil intentions. But because his strength was only at the Master tier, and under Aloy’s watchful eyes, he did not dare to make too much trouble.

This world was different.

At the thought of this, Aloy could not help but feel worried.

If they were really controlled by him, the consequences of being able to control the power of exotic beasts would very likely be destructive! She would never allow that to happen!

Perhaps, as long as she got close to this exotic beast, she would be able to find the exact reason. With that thought in mind, Aloy strode toward the beast in the dark.

After Lear had left, the huge exotic beast lay meekly in the grass at the side with its head tilted.

“Huff… Huff…”

Before she reached it, Aloy could hear the Tiger-like exotic beast panting with difficulty. She took the initiative to come to the front of the exotic beast.

In the past, as long as they saw humans, they would become extremely fierce. The moment Aloy approached it, it did not react. It only opened its eyes and slowly regarded Aloy. Then, it quickly closed its eyes again.

Aloy stared warily at the exotic beast before her.

In the previous timeline, as far as she knew, no matter how weak the exotic beasts were, they would madly attack anyone they saw.

Why was this one so different? Could this be a tamed exotic beast?

Aloy furrowed her brows and carefully sized up the huge spirit beast in front of her. Its forehead and other parts of its body did not have Lear’s exclusive spiritual imprint. There were no slave restraints on it, either.

What could make it so obedient to Lear’s orders? Could it be that Lear had really mastered a way to control these beasts?

At the thought of this, Aloy felt even more uneasy. Even though this was only a very, very small possibility, as long as this possibility existed, Lear could not continue to live in this world!

At the thought of this, Aloy’s eyes became much fiercer.

‘For the future of this world, Lear has to be eliminated!’

“Ice Spirit!”

Aloy raised her hand and summoned the Ice Spirit again. The Ice Spirit carefully moved to Aloy’s side. It only took once glance at the exotic beast nearby, and instantly hid in fear.

“Whine!”

The Ice Spirit bit its tail in panic, and its whole body trembled.

“Don’t be nervous.” Aloy patted her spirit beast and stroked its fur. Under Aloy’s comfort, the Ice Spirit gradually calmed down.

“In order to help me kill my enemies, you have to quickly become stronger.” At this point, Aloy pointed at the exotic beast not far away with a serious expression. “Kill it!”

When it saw Aloy point at the exotic beast, the Ice Spirit immediately hid somewhere behind her, not even daring to raise its head. It looked frightened.

Aloy sighed slowly. This was the reaction most spirit beasts would have when they saw exotic beasts of a higher rank than them. It was normal for them to cower in the face of danger. It should be fine after seeing a few more of these exotic beasts.

“Listen well.” Aloy pointed at the exotic beast again, her eyes were extremely cold. “Kill it and swallow its heart! Otherwise, I’ll break the contract with you and go find a new spirit beast.”

Upon hearing this, the Ice Spirit panicked and shook its head at Aloy. But Aloy shook her head as well.

What she needed were warriors, and partners who were not afraid of danger and could fight side by side. She did not want a coward who only knew how to cry behind her!

In such a cruel future, only the strongest had the right to survive. If she was not ruthless now, she would only regret it in the future.

“Go, Ice Spirit.”

The moment it received the order, the Ice Spirit changed its previous hesitation. Although it was afraid, it still walked towards the exotic beast with determination. Aloy watched her spirit beast in relief.

Although its steps were still filled with fear towards the strong exotic beast, as long as it was willing to test the waters, it would change!

When the exotic beast on the ground saw the Ice Spirit walking towards it, it slowly closed its eyes.

“Ice Spirit, do it!”

The moment Aloy gave the order, the Ice Spirit waved its claws fiercely.

The sharp claws tore through the exposed skin of the exotic beast, tearing its throat apart.

In an instant, the deep black blood of the exotic beast gushed out of its slit throat with a strong stench.
