A freshman who has contracted two pet beasts?! And one of them is a fire-type while the other is a ghost-type?!

The security guard couldn't help but doubt if he had heard wrong. However, today was indeed the day for the new recruits of the Elite/Honor Beastmaster Class to report for training.

Feeling a bit dazed, the security guard, also a beastmaster, albeit a low-ranking one—had graduated from a proper beastmaster high school.

Yet, in all his years, he had never seen a high school freshman with two contracted pet beasts.

Though he had seen it on the news…

Steadying himself, the security guard reminded himself that as a guard at the top beastmaster school in the city, he should not act so surprised.

"Please show me your information card."

Qiao Sang handed over her card.

The guard carefully examined the screen, double-checking the information.

No delayed enrollment, no repeating grades, she was a current middle school graduate, having just turned fifteen.

This girl was an absolute prodigy. If there were no unexpected circumstances, her future would undoubtedly be bright.

The guard slowed down his registration process and enthusiastically said, "Qiao Sang, what a nice name you have."

"Thank you." Qiao Sang scratched her head.

"Really, it's a great name. I register a lot of names every day, but yours really stands out."

Qiao Sang felt a bit shy. She’d been complimented on her looks, and lately, people had praised her talent, but no one had ever sincerely complimented her name before.

"My grandmother also had the single name Sang, no wonder I felt a sense of closeness as soon as I saw you."

Qiao Sang: ...

Realizing that he might have said something inappropriate, the guard awkwardly chuckled.

"You're here for the training, right? Let me make a quick call and have Teacher Xian come and get you."

Having a teacher personally pick her up? That was quite the treatment!

Before Qiao Sang could even think to refuse, the guard had already made the call.

"Hello, this is the South Gate security office. We have a freshman here named Qiao Sang, reporting for training. Could you please send someone to pick her up?"

That was quick…

It seemed like the number was saved at the top of the contact list…

"Xun."

Little Treasure on her head suddenly sensed something and looked toward a particular direction, confused.

There, in the distance, the air seemed to warp slightly.

In the next second, a pet beast with loose skin, wrinkles, grayish-pink fur, a white belly, and large, bat-like ears appeared out of nowhere. In its claws, it held several pieces of paper.

Qiao Sang was taken aback by the sudden appearance of the beast. It looked somewhat familiar, but she couldn't recall its name, though she was sure it was a psychic-type beast.

Her heart skipped a beat. This beast seemed to have used spatial movement, not just teleportation.

Teleportation is a skill that allows a beast to instantly move from one place to another. It can be countered by simply enclosing the space.

In other words, if you lock a pet beast in a room, it can only teleport within that room.

Spatial movement, however, bypasses three-dimensional space, allowing the user to move to entirely different coordinates.

The difference between these two skills is significant. The beastmaster alliance categorized teleportation as a mid-tier skill, while spatial movement was classified as a high-tier skill.

"Yap!"

Yabao bared his sharp teeth in a defensive stance upon seeing the sudden arrival of the new beast.

The large-eared pet beast paid no attention to Yabao. It briefly scanned Qiao Sang, then started flipping through the papers it was holding with its claws.

After a few pages, it stopped, looked at the paper in its claw, and then back at Qiao Sang, seemingly confirming something.

"Teacher Xian, this is Qiao Sang." The security guard reminded her.

Qiao Sang was stunned. So, Teacher Xian was the pet beast?

Come to think of it, having pet beasts serve as teachers wasn't unheard of in the beastmaster society. However, such pet beasts typically only taught other pet beasts.

These pet beasts usually served as teachers because their own beastmasters held positions in the school.

"Xian."

Teacher Xian nodded. Holding the paper in its left claw, it waved its right claw.

Suddenly, Qiao Sang's vision went black, and she felt dizzy.

When her sight returned, she found herself in an office-like room.

Qiao Sang was shocked.

This Teacher Xian could not only perform spatial movement but could also take a person with it! The skill proficiency must be near perfection!

Achieving this level of mastery for a high-tier skill without any special advantages was something that most ordinary pet beasts couldn't accomplish.

"Qiao Sang, long time no see." A deep male voice greeted her from the side.

Qiao Sang turned her head to see a middle-aged man with meticulously groomed hair sitting behind a desk, with Teacher Xian standing beside him.

In front of the man sat a boy whom she had once taken the special recruitment exam with.

"Good day, Vice Principal." Qiao Sang quickly greeted him.

She immediately recognized the man.

Her memory had become much sharper since awakening her Beastmaster Codex, and she seldom forgot people or things she had seen.

More importantly, this vice principal was the first A-rank breeder she had ever met and had once given her guidance.

Liu Yao looked at Qiao Sang for a moment before his eyes suddenly lit up. He straightened his posture and leaned forward, squinting slightly.

"Qiao Sang, is this Treasure-Seeking Ghost yours?"

"Yes, it's my second pet beast."

"What the—!"

Before Liu Yao could process this information, the boy in front of him let out an exclamation.

"Lu Liangye, mind your language." Liu Yao said with a glance.

Immediately, Lu Liangye zipped his lips with a hand gesture, embarrassed at letting such words slip in front of the vice principal.

The news was too shocking, it had caused him to blurt out in excitement.

Liu Yao rose from his seat, his eyes scrutinizing the Treasure-Seeking Ghost for a moment before shifting his attention to the Fire Fang Dog.

The Fire Fang Dog had been curiously looking around, surprised by the sudden change of scenery.

But as soon as he felt someone staring at him, he lifted his chin and flashed his sharp teeth in a handsome display.

The more Liu Yao looked, the more incredulous he felt.

Just as he was about to say something, he remembered that another student was still in the room.

He sat back down and said, "I was just discussing something with Lu Liangye. Since you're here, you can listen as well."

Qiao Sang nodded.

"This training involves only twelve of you. Not all Elite Class students will be participating. The reason you were selected isn’t because of your outstanding test scores. You should be aware that your entrance exam scores barely exceeded the cutoff."

Qiao Sang and Lu Liangye exchanged a glance.

So this girl’s academic scores weren’t that high either?

Lu Liangye immediately felt better.

"But that’s not important. This training isn't to make up for academic deficiencies. Our goal is to form a team capable of defeating the Litan Beastmaster High School team." Liu Yao continued.
