Chapter 146: Midway Attack, Blowing Up the Bridge

“Their convoy has set off, send someone to follow them. If Wang Yun is leaving this city, we need to be prepared to leave as well.”

As Wang Yun’s convoy majestically progressed toward the distance, the Captains of the surrounding program inspection teams issued commands.

“We’re not sure which city he’ll head to next.”

The Captains from China’s program inspection team discussed among themselves as they sat inside a vehicle and pondered over a map in front of them.

“After we reach the next city, we’ll have to arrest not only Wang Yun but also all the escapees,” Wu Mingyu declared.

“Hey, look at what the road surveillance has captured. There’s a vehicle with two identical people inside,” Kolyev pointed out, focusing on a surveillance screen.

“Identical people?” Wang Yue and the others looked puzzled, “The same face? Wang Yun must’ve made the skin masks to match the hostages. To prevent his subordinates from being killed on sight once they arrive in the new city.”

“That seems likely. Wang Yun can’t always stay with his subordinates, otherwise, they’d be too conspicuous,” Ying Yuezi nodded in agreement, “Once they reach a new city, Wang Yun will probably split up from them.”

“Exactly,” everyone nodded, understanding the situation.

“Should we not prepare and take some actions en route? Being this passive seems suboptimal, doesn’t it?” Wu Mingyu looked at his comrades, suggesting, “We’ve been constantly led by Wang Yun. Shouldn’t we attempt something on this journey?”

“But what action can we take? He currently has drones for surveillance, explosives at his disposal, and hostages,” Wu Yaoming asked, his brows knit tightly.

“Indeed, but even if direct action is not feasible, we must at least pinpoint Wang Yun’s location. Once he reaches a new city and merges into the sea of people, especially with his numerous skin masks, capturing him will be exceedingly difficult,” Kolyev added, “Let’s start with road surveillance to systematically identify and lock on to potential targets. Wang Yun might currently be using disguises identical to the hostages, or he could be in one of those three combat vehicles from the Singapore team. By narrowing down our targets now, it’ll facilitate our actions upon reaching the new city.”

“It seems that’s the only viable approach. We cannot afford to sit idly by and do nothing.”

The group nodded in consensus. Seated in a combat vehicle spacious enough for over a dozen people, they followed closely behind, driving swiftly. Meticulously monitoring the surveillance, they analyzed each piece of data.

The members of the other eleven program inspection teams followed closely behind the large convoy, ensuring they wouldn’t lose sight of it.

“Deploy drones to advance to the front of the convoy, then pause in a specific location to capture footage.”

“Our drone surveillance footage offers clearer imagery than China’s road surveillance videos.”

“Send individuals in disguise as ordinary motorists to conduct reconnaissance.”

The program inspection teams issued commands, deploying both vehicles and drones for scouting purposes.

The convoy pressed on, its path constantly altering under Wang Yun’s directives, confounding any attempt to predict their destination.

Half an hour later, the convoy hit the highway, picking up speed.

Wang Yun, seated in a vehicle, controlled several drones that patrolled the skies above, scouting the surroundings.

“Boss, they might be trailing us from behind. Should we lay some explosives on the ground to surprise them?” Brother Hu suggested from his seat, eyes sparkling with anticipation.

“No need for now. Just keep an eye on our surroundings. If any vehicle persistently follows us, engage it directly,” Wang Yun instructed.

“Understood, Boss,” Brother Hu acknowledged with a nod.

As time ticked by, Wang Yun noticed a vehicle speeding past their side. Its speed then decreased as it positioned itself alongside them.

Wang Yun promptly ordered, “Directly attack this vehicle as it approaches us.”

“Alright!” Brother Hu immediately nodded, flipping open the side bulletproof window.

“Old Wolf, Old Rice, do you see the vehicle on our side? Attack it directly,” he urgently grabbed a communicator and commanded loudly.

“Yes, Big Brother,” came the immediate replies from the bulletproof vehicle at the forefront and the one at the rear.

Rapid gunfire ensued shortly after. They launched an assault without discriminating whether the target vehicle was civilian or belonged to a program inspection team.

“Heh, it turns out it was them after all,” Wang Yun noted with a slight smile as the targeted vehicle was ‘eliminated’ after the gunfire.

“Damn this Wang Yun, attacking any vehicle that approaches them,” Captain Everick and his team from the United States program inspection team, located four kilometers back, received the distressing update with visibly upset expressions. ƒгeewebnovёl.com

“Wang Yun acts with total impunity, striking any vehicle that nears them,” said another Captain from the United States program inspection team, his brow furrowed in concern.

“We better keep monitoring. He has too many under his command and too many weapons at his disposal,” another Captain added in resignation.

The rest could only nod in agreement, feeling powerless.

The United States program inspection team was effectively subdued by the turn of events.

Through road surveillance, other program inspection teams also witnessed this scene. Seeing the United States program inspection team’s predicament, they grew wary.

The convoy pressed on. Soon, nearly two hours had passed, and Wang Yun’s convoy left the highway.

“Hmm? Wang Yun’s convoy has left the highway. They’re headed for Xiyun City.”

Simultaneously, the Captains of the various program inspection teams noted the convoy’s exit from the highway and quickly concluded.

“Xiyun City it’s roughly the same size as Nancheng but with a significantly larger population, is a newly rising first-tier city,” Wu Mingyu from the China inspection team stated, reviewing information on Xiyun City.

“A new battlefield,” Wu Yaoming muttered while examining the map and data on Xiyun City.

Xiyun City, the new battlefield for the upcoming confrontations.

“Up ahead is Xiyun City. Two kilometers away, there’s a bridge over the river. Old Song, get ready there,” Wang Yun, with a smile on his face, directed his gaze forward.

Reaching Xiyun City required crossing a two-kilometer-long bridge spanning the river. Wang Yun’s plan was to destroy this bridge, which would secure them ample time.
