Su Junyu gave him a look before turning to the cultivator working the counter and handing over the ball of light. “Immortal Institute trial.”

Wang Qi rolled his eyes. [I know your character all too well. Why bother faking it?]

In any case, Su Junyu’s attitude proved effective for the now-shocked disciples. Mao Zimiao was looking with respect. “Little Qi, I can’t believe you became friends with someone with opposite character, nya!”

The worker paused and said, “Participants confirmed. The four freshmen, please display your spiritual power.”

Su Junyu pointed at the seal on the counter and said, “One by one, you’re to come forward and push your spiritual power inside it, following the previous order. Wang Qi, your up first.”

Wang Qi did as told, giving the civil worker cultivator a curious look. The guy’s silence was off-putting. It gave the fantasy-engrossed Wang Qi of Earth a slight association with his past world.

Su Junyu patted his back and said, “Don’t look. He’s part of the illusion. It switches to live control only when needed.

Having seen Calculator Mind Theory having similar content as Earth’s The Computer and the Brain, Wang Qi figured everything Earth came up with, Divine Province’s immortal world would follow pretty close. Wang Qi put on the wristband and checked the pendant. The jade was small in his hand, looking utterly plain, just like Su Junyu’s. The only difference was that Su Junyu’s had many engravings. “What’s it for?”

“There’s a spiritual signature within. By placing it before any All-immortal Realm’s magic item, you can bring out the Immortal Realm Ledger. Much of All-immortal Realm’s functions require the ledger to use.”

[An ID card… and a forced internet identification system. Ha-ha, then no one must be uploading banned stuff on the All-immortal Realm.]

Wang Qi’s mood sank, drawing Su Junyu’s curious gaze. “Why do I sense disappointment?”

“I finally realize how boring All-immortal Realm became…”

Su Junyu took it for Wang Qi’s usual whining, so he had the rest follow along with the procedure. Wu Fan and Mao Zimiao already have an immortal recording jade, the illusion giving them just a wristband. 

Su Junyu explained, “The immortal recording jade has no use besides earning and using merits. That’s why most cultivators come here when they take on their first task. The only exceptions are the five best sects. They are the Immortal Alliance’s foundation. Any disciple that hadn’t undergone any trial and entered the five best sects would be issued a jade. As for the wristband, it records the completion of your trial. Upon returning it, the wristband will connect with the All-immortal Realm where the assessment is carried out and you will receive your merits.” 

After taking their task, Su Junyu took the gang outside, but this time it was through the north entrance and not the south one.

On top of the north slope was a platform said to have been carved by a senior with sword energy. The platform was a training ground. Thanks to the presence of an array, it was split into many zones, with every zone already occupied with fights. Most of them were low cultivators fighting low demons.

Wang Qi knew this had to be the location of the combat trial.

Wu Shiqin’s eyes shone at the display, itching to jump in. Wang Qi and Mao Zimiao had to drag her away.

Argent Mountain’s north slope was far steeper than the south, rugged, and uneven. Common people had no way of living here, as evident by the lack of shops and buildings. Argent Mountain’s north slope became the area with the highest concentration of rogue cultivators. 

The impromptu team descended, passing the sparse trees, when Su Junyu spoke, “The south slope and north slope are different. Here you can fly.”

Wang Qi figured Su Junyu would take out a flying sword and put a barrier around the four to take them, like Xiang Qi did with him. Instead, Su Junyu tapped his storage bag, and it shone silver. To the shock of all, the gaudy light turned into a flying boat.

“Hop in.” Su Junyu jumped on and called out the same way a driver on Earth would. The boat was far smaller than Immortal Alliance’s Yan Heyi’s, just ten meters long and three meters wide. Yan Heyi’s boat was an Immortal Alliance-issued one, after all, kind of like a work car. Su Junyu’s boat was his own personal property. 

The four jumped on, and Su Junyu made a sign. The boat shook, then shot off.
