Chapter 3: Flu

‘The virus eventually evolved into a ‘flu’ that led to a global catastrophe!’
That was what’s written in the book.
Li Ran thought deeply to herself when she saw the word ‘flu’. She more or less understood the situation. A flu may seem insignificant, but if it evolved into something new that could not be controlled, it could cause extreme havoc.
Li Ran remembered other historical cases of flu that had caused a pandemic.
Just as she was about to continue reading, a reminder popped up from the manual.
[ Do you accept this space? Once you’re bound, you will be the only one who can use it. ]
There were two buttons below:
‘Agree’ and ‘Reject’.
Li Ran immediately chose ‘Agree’.
The manual in her hand then instantly disappeared. Everything that she had read earlier was embedded into her memories.
...
She also had a rough idea of how to use the space.
Essentially, the space needed to be operated every day. There would be daily missions and if they were completed, the system would award rewards correspondingly.
The reward interface had not appeared yet and the system only told her how to complete the missions.
Li Ran then proceeded to feed the chickens and ducks.
After she completed her mission, she was suddenly transported back to her own world.
Li Ran found the strange metal object from earlier on her hand. It was an iron ball and apparently, she could control it at will. The iron ball would appear in front of her whenever she thought about it.
Li Ran was very surprised.
But then, she suddenly remembered what she had read from the book and picked up her phone.
She started to search for “red rain” and sure enough, it was a hot search.
An article by experts explaining the phenomenon of the red acid rain could be found. Apparently, the red acid rain would cause harm to crops, but that’s all.
“This is too much of a coincidence.”
Li Ran stared at the iron ball in her hand. Her instincts told her that this was not a regular iron ball, and what was written in that manual might really be true!
The strange incidents at the hospital...
All the coughing, screaming, and struggling...
Li Ran stood up and rummaged through her bag. She found the mask she got from the hospital earlier and proceeded to put it on. She also found her car keys and some cash.
‘This is not enough.’
Li Ran turned around and headed to the bedroom. She opened the table beside the bed and took out a credit card that her husband had left for her.
She took all of her savings with her.
Without another word, she drove straight to a supermarket outside the residential area.
The most important thing to stock up on was none other than water.
“Hello, do you have more mineral water?” Li Ran stopped a staff member and asked with a smile.
The staff member looked at her and said, “You’ve already taken ten boxes. Isn’t that enough?”
Li Ran smiled.
“Not enough.”
The staff became suspicious of her.
After staring at Li Ran for a while, she scratched her head and asked, “Are you on an errand for your company? How much water do you need? I’ll go to the warehouse and get more for you.”
Li Ran could not exactly tell her the truth.
The staff would not believe her.
All she wanted was a few boxes of water.
“Yes. Sorry to trouble you, but could you help me move the boxes of water to my car? It’s a little inconvenient for me,” Li Ran said as she touched her belly, giving the staff a hint.
The staff was more than willing to help.
In the end, Li Ran ordered a total of twenty boxes of water. She also got some fruit juices.
Additionally, she bought a lot of food. The food she had bought was the type that could be stored for a long time.
She did not buy any bread or frozen food that had a short shelf lifespan.
“Sorry to trouble you. I want three... no, five boxes of biscuits. Do you have them?”
“Do you only want biscuits? There are several types...” said the staff.
She then asked, “Is this your first time holding an event?”
“Yes. There will be many people attending our special event,” Li Ran explained with a smile.
Li Ran continued to look for other things such as snacks.
After a while...
“Your car is already full. Why don’t you go back and empty it first?”
The staff member asked while sweating.
“Okay.”
Li Ran paid for everything and left.
When she arrived at the parking lot, she realized that her car was quite far from the supermarket’s entrance.
Li Ran got to her car and closed the trunk. The backseat was also filled to the brim, as well as the front passenger seat.
She looked around and sighed, “If only I could put these things into that space!”
As soon as she said that, everything she had bought disappeared!
