Once again the whole group, including my family members and the rest who normally would be clearing the first-tier hunting grounds, gathered in the canyon.
The atmosphere was great despite the scorching rays of the local star raining down on us, and all the dust picked up by the wind from time to time, blowing in our faces.
I've noticed that people made some investments in not really combat-useful skills, just to improve their comfort of hunting. Some could produce water, to cool us all down a bit. Others used barriers to make spheres around themselves, protecting them from the annoying light.
Killing the orcs was also much swifter. They would rotate small groups which would clean ahead, while the main force just walked. When the people in the form got tired, they would return to switch.
This combined with a fast marching pace, since we all by that point had superhuman bodies, made the travel very quickly. We ended up by the cave before noon, although the fact that we left the city very early also had something to do with that.
After a moment of a break after the large battle, to catch a breath, and eat, we went into the dungeon. Once again Tihana and john, now joined by Dasha, Marvin, and Lucas, were at the very front.
They were able to cut easily through the ranks of the green skins, while the rest dealt with whatever made it past them.
It was quite a view. Like a well-oiled machine. I was also able to watch my other kids perform well. Leonel could slightly transform his body, making his skin produce those tiny scales. They seemed to be made of gold and presumably gave him additional protection.
He seemed to have a strong body since he was able to cut down anything coming his way with a single slash of his sword.
Carmelita stayed behind him providing assistance with magic, but it also seemed like she was using some buffs on the people around her. I wasn't exactly sure about the skills, but I've noticed her magic strengthening the bodies of those around her.
She would also quickly heal any scratches she was able to see among our people. That's the best the orcs could do.
Even the mages at the need couldn't do much. to my surprise, in dealing with them Leonel shined the most. The fire didn't seem to work on him at all. He was taking whole fireballs on his shield, and emerging from a cloud of flames unharmed, just to cut down the one who used the spell on him.
It seemed like he invested a lot in the draconic class he was so happy to unlock.
Tihana and John had a more clever approach. They would dodge, to put some barriers to not even block the spells, but help to guide them out of the way, or sometimes, if they were lucky, at the other orcs.
Looking at all that from the backline made me proud.
Celestine too shined among the others. Literally, though. Her sword would have the same aura I saw on the ones summoned by Will. It provided light, but also helped her to cut down enemies.
Overall, counting all the trucks people had up their sleeves now, it was quite a bright underground, since anybody could do something which was able to provide some form of light.
So, even when we arrived at the entrance to the boss's room, nobody seemed tired. People actually were eager to see the strongest ones of them fight the monster. I was among the first ones to enter.
The orc was sitting on his throne in the pit, waiting for a challenger to jump down, while all of us gathered above, on the edge of the stone wall. I watched Tihana's eyes, she was looking at me, clearly to devise the signal to attack.
I nodded slowly, which made her jump down. John immediately followed.
The boss responded by picking himself up from the throne. My daughter didn't wait for him to pick up the weapon, she rushed to block it with her body protected by the shield. At the same time, John rushed to the side to flank the massive orc.
- Fuck him up! - I heard Lucas yelling.
- Show him who is the real boss! - Marvin joined.
The two made the rest of the hunters begin yelling cheering comments. Some were quite funny, cheesy oneliners.
I listened with my eyes locked on my daughter, smiling to myself.
The boss didn't seem too happy with somebody blocking his access to the axe. Je rushed forward to blast Tihana with a powerful punch, but right when his fist was about to connect, she shadow walked to the side and slashed his leg.
At the same moment, John jumped to hit his neck, but the damage he managed to deal was minimal because the boss dodged at the last moment.
- Hey! - I shouted. - That's mine!
My words made a few people laugh. Some were bold enough to comment, but I ignored it all focusing on the fight.
Tihana was maneuvering between the legs of the massive orc, slashing and cutting without mercy, while he tried to stomp her to death. He couldn't do more, because John would jump and try to cut his head off with his halberd, or aim at the neck. When it wasn't possible, he would use some magic to attack from a distance. Mainly fire, but I saw a few wind slashes.
I guess he had to realize that his current position was terrible, which pushed him to change his tactic. For a moment he ignored them both, then rushed to grab the axe. It disrupted Tihana's rhythm, and she found herself in quite a dire spot because she got kicked by the massive leg. John tried to stop the boss, but he got backhanded so hard that he went flying.
Meanwhile, Tihana shadow walked again to lose the kinetic energy, and landed on the sand, next to her comrade.
