A Wanderer's Lies

Chapter 36: Is he crazy?! [1]

"Hello students, sorry I'm late."

"Tsk" Clicking her teeth, Katlynn closed the door behind her as she left the class.

The students all stared, none knowing what to expect from the new teacher, but they all had one similar thought.

'Lazy.'

From the way he spoke, to his body language and demeanour, some students thought they drew the short end of the stick.

"Before we begin the real lesson, I want to give a quick rundown on Power Systems."

Orion drew a few stick figures on the board. One with Aura coating his body, one with a sort of flame in his abdomen and a few more.

"Nen, Chakra, Ki, Haki and most other PS are all very similar to each other. Despite having different applications and effects, they all share the same building blocks, most being a sort of life energy."

"Things like Logias are ineffective to Armament Haki, but also to Nen, Chakra and most other PS. Same way Nen can be seen by users of these other PS."

"The reason I say this is because you should never assume you have an upper hand without knowing enough about your opponent. Being too overconfident in a battle will almost always lead to disaster."

"Always assume your opponent is prepared, and always be vigilant. After all, this could be the difference that determines whether you live or die."

As Orion spoke, no one interrupted, everyone keeping their eyes on the man as he spoke with a higher intensity than usual.

"Now, with this in mind, everybody follow me." Orion didn't wait for any questions as he slid the door open, walking out.

Staring at each other for a few seconds, the students soon chased after the man, chatting as they did.

'There must have been a reason he gave the small lecture before he asked everyone to leave. Something is going to happen.'

"Let's go before we lose him." Oliver nudged Isaac, to which Isaac nodded.

"Right."

In the middle of a forest, surrounded by tall grass, lush vegetation and tall trees that cast a shade from the glaring sunlight, stood Orion, staring at his students before him.

"Mr…Orion, why have you brought us out here?" Ava raised her hand. It was clear she was some sort of spokesperson for the class.

Looking around, Orion stayed quiet as he mumbled something under his breath.

"It was the third tree to the left, then two trees behind it, so it should be…"

Walking to a nearby bush, Orion dug his hands inside, searching for a few seconds before yanking out a large male and dropping him to the ground with a THUD.

As the students watched, some gasped while others took a step back.

"Hey, wake up. Stop faking, I didn't hit you that hard." Orion kicked the man a few times before a groan was heard.

Raising his head, was a man with striking blue eyes, messy black hair that looked out of place like he'd been sleeping under a bridge, and striking features.

"Who's that?"

"I'm not sure. Maybe a teacher."

The students discussed, however, in the back, a certain amber-eyed boy widened his eyes as he stared at the waking man.

'Silver!'

Isaac remembered the Ghoul who'd almost killed him the day he met Orion. But what was he doing here?

"Alright, students, consider this a practical lesson." Orion bent over, moving closer to Silver.

"And you. I'm trying to make a good first impression today and this is a great way to teach them." Despite lowering his tone, everyone could still clearly hear Orion.

"You…bastard. I'll kill them all, then rip your guts out!" The man growled.

"That's the spirit. And you have my permission to kill them if you can. Also, just to sweeten the deal, if you succeed, I'll let you leave."

Hearing this, Silver's ears perked, looking up to meet Oriom's gaze, only to find the man had gone, disappearing into the forest.

"Is he crazy?!"

"He really expects us to fight…that?"

"Maybe this is just a test."

"No." A commanding voice spoke from the crowd of students as Cain stepped forward.

"This is the real deal. That guy is strong, so we need to work together if we want to stand a chance."

It wasn't long until another voice spoke after him.

"He's right. We need to have each other's backs." Ava commented with her high voice. And as usual, everyone nodded in agreement, all taking their stances.

"What should we do, Is-" A drop of sweat poured down the side of Oliver's face as he looked to his side, only to find he was alone.

"Huh? Isaac?" Looking around, Oliver wasn't able to spot Isaac, however, he was distracted as a yell made him jump a little.

"You little shits! You fodder think you stand a chance against me, a Stage 3 Inheritor?"

Leaping off the ground, the Earth cracking beneath his feet, Silver bolted toward the students, soon meeting Cain in the first confrontation.

-BANG

As the both of them pulled back their arm, an explosion-like sound rang, both their fists colliding.

'What…? What the hell is up with this kid?' Silver thought, the pain from the collision running through his arm.

However, Cain was no better as he grit his teeth, pushing forward.

As everyone watched, if one looked closely, they'd be able to notice Silver being pushed back a few steps.

However, the clash didn't last long as a sword appeared from above Silver, piercing him in the shoulder.

"Argh"

Silver let out a pained groan as the sword was yanked out, just as fast as it came.

Lucy dropped to the ground behind him, turning her body swinging her sword and slashing Silver across the back.

However, the wounds healed at an incredible rate, disappearing almost instantly.

Despite this, Silver was given no time to rest.

The rest of the students joined in, everyone throwing their strongest attacks.

Silver was buried under it all, the attacks causing damage faster than he could heal.

"Enough!"

With a yell, red appendages appeared from his lower spine, wrapping themselves around his upper head, covering his eyes, and his arm.

Thrusting his giant arm in the air, the mere shockwave was enough to send a few students tumbling, not to mention the few individuals who withstood the full force of the attack.

Leaping into the air, Silver entered a rampage, destroying all he could see as craters formed, trees were destroyed and students were injured.

"This is crazy!"

"He's too strong!"

"Someone help!"

Whatever morale that motivated the students had long since disappeared, as most abandoned the fight, trying their best to escape.

"Bring all the injured to me!" Ava yelled as a green hue glowed from her hands, coating the injuries of the students.

"Kill!"

As Silver yelled, he failed to notice a figure slither past his guard, soon landing a rocket of a blow into his abdomen.

-BOOM

"I'm your opponent."

Cain's fist hung for a second as Silver coughed blood. But despite this, a grin could be seen on the ghoul's face.

As the appendages on his arm expanded, they wrapped themselves around Cain like snakes, till he was completely trapped.

Taking a deep breath, Silver swung his arm, tossing Cain as the boy crashed through the trees, disappearing from the view.

"How disappointing. I would have loved to devour you."

However, before Silver could have a moment of respite, a sudden smoke suddenly enshrouded him.

"What is this trickery?!" Silver yelled.

"Not trickery. Devil fruit!" A voice could be heard from the smoke.

Suddenly, a figure emerged from the smoke.

His hands wrapped in bandages, Colt had used the smoke as a cover.

Sliding on the ground, the boy raised his leg, kicking Silver upward.

He didn't stop there, as he leapt off the ground with his arms, continuing to unleash a flurry of kicks, raising Silver further and further in the air.

"Don't…you…touch…these…beautiful…ladies!" Colt yelled with each kick.

It wasn't long until Colt kicked off Silver, dropping back to the ground as the Ghoul hung in the air.

-CRACKLE

-BOOM

Yellow lightning suddenly struck from the sky, onto the ground as smoke arose in the air, a giant female with a blonde ponytail appeared.

Pulling back her fist, the female giant shot her fist out, striking Silver.

Like a fly being swatted, Silver was sent soaring through the air like a shooting star, crashing a few miles away.

***

In a forest a few miles away from the students, Silver cracked his neck, fully healed as he stood in a crater he'd created.

"Pesky twerps. I'll kill them all."

Pausing for a few seconds, he continued.

"But this is more important."

Taking his hand, Silver buried it deep in his mouth.

His throat visibly enlarged as more of his arm disappeared into his mouth.

It wasn't until his whole arm, up to his elbow, was down his throat, that he finally retracted it, a brown sack now in his hand.

Ignoring the copious amounts of fluid soaking the sack and his arm, he opened the small brown bag, removing a plate-sized device that seemed to be impossible to fit inside the sack at first glance.

"He'll be proud when I get this done."

As Silver turned, he was stopped by a voice.

"Are those the storage devices I've heard so much about? I might have to take that off your hands."

Snapping his head back, Silver noticed a boy with amber eyes and unkempt hair appearing from the vegetation.

"You…you stole my car."

"And you tried to eat me."

Isaac bent his legs slightly as he brought his arms up, his fists on each side of his chin.

"You can't be serious. You're merely a child."

"I know. It'll be more embarrassing for you. Now, I think it's time I take my revenge. Come at me, asshole!"
