Chapter 222: Savage Flame Giant

It was at the ninth district of the Shadow Empire, above the air of the square of broken stones.

Grimm looked into the distance, scattered around with eight Voidships, few thousands of Soul Slaves, and countless of Fallen Amonros moved around with their tasks. It was obvious that the area had fallen under the control of the army of Bright Sorcerers.

Compared to the Dark Sorcerers, the highly cooperative Bright Sorcerers would pose greater competitive edge against them. The Dark Sorcerers could hardly make their presence known; they were only good in surviving alone and launch solo attacks. Thus, their capabilities were also limited.

At the very least... Grimm felt this way—being an independent, small and weak Dark Demon-Hunter.

Five hourglasses of time had passed.

Grimm transformed into a flow of light—hovered around the sky of the square, then moved forward into the distance.

During Grimm’s communication with one of the high-level sorcerers from the district, he had submitted his mission. Then, he was told that there was a bounty mission offered by a Dark Sorcerer from the Shadow Empire. It was a clean-up mission against the Amonros’ guerrilla force in the Shadow Continent.

Grimm flew toward the district. However, he was not planning to take on the mission, but he wanted to strengthen his knowledge base on the chimeras. Regardless of its ability to evolve, an experimental chimera would be good enough to provide him support.

Perhaps, it was the Amonro’s ‘policy of nonresistance’ bothered Grimm.

Indistinctly...

Grimm felt as if this world seemed to be infiltrated by the Demon Hunters and the victory would be theirs. However, in reality, it could be just too good to be true. The unknown world that had been long ruled by the Enigmatic Amonros, seemed to be brewing something disastrous from behind the scenes, unknown by the world. As if the truth was hidden under thick shadows.

Although such feelings have yet to be proven true, it seemed to be a staple feeling in the thoughts of every low-level sorcerer.

In contrast, high-level sorcerers would only believe what they saw and their own capabilities that were above average. They would play by the rules from past norms and not feel any abnormalities toward the situation.

If that was the case for the high-level sorcerers, they would most probably look down on the lower level lifeforms and assume that they were just being naive and incapable of controlling themselves nor the direction of this world?

...

Three months had passed.

Without the mechanical bee that Grimm took when he headed to the ninth district, it took more than three months while moving at full speed to reach the capital. It was the place of origin for the Void Fortress within the sorcerer world and also the place where the shadow world had landed. Before reaching the capital, he had passed a huge Shadow Continent and the Crimson Sun World.

Grimm had increased his understanding toward the rules commonly known between the Shadow World and the Sorcerer World as he had been traveling in between the Crimson Sun World and the Shadow World.

Despite only a small fraction of both worlds that Grimm had seen, he noticed that the rules from the shadow world were not gentle, all rounded, nor interconnected with the basic rules from the sorcerer world.

This could mean that the shadow world was not overlapping the crimson sun world, hence the big difference among both.

The differences could cause difficulties for lifeforms from both worlds to adapt to the rules from the opposite world.

From the example of the rules of the ocean and continent—there would be different classification in the sorcerer world for shores, lakes, streams, et cetera.

However, sorcerers had already adapted toward the rules of both worlds, not to mention various native lifeforms that had also adapted to live in both environments too.

Rules from the sorcerer world were interconnected among each other. For instance, the formation of systems, the rotation between the sun and the moon, and the cycle of the four different seasons.

The rules from the shadow world could be described as ropes that were pinched together. It could only be released without any reversal or even any cyclical formation.

Thus, the sun only descended once in the shadow world, and some of them were rich in special energy, like the Combustar and Enigmatic Energy. Both had been consuming the world’s Origin Core.

One day, the world would face extinction.

Grimm was flying at full speed toward his cave lab, and did not head toward the capital or the Void Fortress.

Once he had entered the Camphoragate Cave, he rushed toward his lab—ignoring the Fallen Amonros that bowed at him.

After more than twenty years of “feeding and mating” the low-level Amonros that had been living in this shadow land, the Amonros were reproducing their second generation. However, for the Demon Hunter, the duration would only mean nothing more than the time taken for a few missions.

Compared to the first generation, the second generation of the Amonros had degraded even worse.

The Demon Hunters had spent twenty years to build their strongest backing on the Shadow Continent, which was the Shadow Empire. It was a pain in the ass for the native Amonros in the world, and also a disgrace for them.

If such a situation were to be prolonged for another thirty to fifty years, all fallen Amonros would be the most loyal minions for the Demon Hunters in the shadow world, provided they were not all killed.

Grimm returned to the bottom of the lake.

Everything seemed to be unchanged, same as how it was when Grimm left ten years ago. As if it was only a quick nap for the Water-Crystal Turtle that lives eternally.

Although the turtle had the ability of eternal life similar to high-level lifeforms, the ability was restricted to the boundaries of this small lake. Thus, it could not be put to greater use.

In the sorcerer world, the turtle would be described similarly as those sorcerer-apprentices that compliment others and would only strive when paired with a partner.

“Master.”

The turtle opened its eyes and extended its head to greet Grimm.

Grimm did not even look at the turtle as his face was hidden under his mask. The presence of the turtle does not mean anything to him anymore and it was just another Soul Slave to him. Grimm stepped on the surface of the lake and created ripples along the way as he walked toward his lab.

However, it was totally different case for Lord Myna, as he had been bored along the way, he enjoyed commanding and bullying his servant now that he had one.

“Caw, caw! Little turtle, your master is now back...”

Lord Myna held a Flesh Fruit in his mouth and spat it far away. He then yelled arrogantly, “Quick, return it to your master!”

The turtle slowly glided across the lake without a choice, and bit on the fruit...

Grimm waved his hand and cast magic power to unlock the magical array at the entrance of the lab. He took a stroll around the lab and cut across to the center of the lab and mumbled some sorcery curses. Suddenly, dark and golden flames appeared and a Greedy Flame Giant that was five meters tall stood up in the lab.

Roar!

The giant let out a loud roar and frightened the turtle that was being summoned by Lord Myna. It immediately shrank into a small crystal ball.

“This...is the true breath of the Ancient Lava Giants! Impossible, this is impossible, how could the Lava Giants leave the perishing land? Impossible, impossible...”

Grimm looked at the Lava Giant that stood in his lab, amazed and enlightened by the black and golden colored flames that formed the giant.

The giant’s evolution had already been completed years ago. However, it was not presented until now since Grimm did not put in much effort in researching, part of it was also because of the lack of combat mission taken by Grimm.

Hence, the first thing Grimm did once he arrived at his lab was to observe the current state of the giant.

Its soul and hatred eating abilities had not changed.

Its flames were black when the attacking power was lower. Now, the golden flame had increased its temperature tremendously. Also, the giant seemed to be able to absorb fire attributes energy on a large scale.

Both resistance and absorbance were totally different!

Grimm was amazed by what he had realized. The Lava Crystal was not an average Lava Crystal that was commonly known, and there would definitely be unknown stories behind.

Hmm?

Would this be the Lava Refining ability?

Suddenly, the giant let out a deep howl and its temperature spiked, while the ground below its foot began to soften. Under the giant, the ground had melted and formed into a layer of Lava Armor and a Lava Greatsword.

The temperature of the giant was blazing hot while its face was covered with red flames. Even Grimm felt as if he was being roasted, despite his high resistance toward the fire elements.

Badump!

Suddenly, a strong heartbeat sound exploded from within the body of the giant, and the fire elements underground were in a mess.

The ability within the Flame Territory!

Grimm was excited and he examined the giant that was before him, with his Ashen Mask on. He murmured, “The amount of change is so huge and it is now irrelevant to name it the Greedy Flame Giant. From now on, let’s call it the Savage Flame Giant!”
