"Oh, good catch, Two." Eldrian commented, grabbing the pouch from the skeleton he had just killed—now just a bunch of collapsed bones on the ground.

This used to be one of the lower undead who was sentient, and in its pouch were a couple of golds and, more importantly, two tiny mana crystals.

They were both only as large as nail, but they still contained over two thousand mana within them. Perfect for smaller novas to cause havoc or kill someone before they realized how dangerous Eldrian was.

And, with this discovery, Eldrian started targeting the sentient lower undead. They were weak and easy to spot, since they were generally the leader of groups of undead. And with Eldrian's sight, he could identify their weak points and kill them with one strike.

Thus, as Eldrian made his way to the library—which was actually one of the many schools for liches and other research driven undead—he collected some bounties.

He also kept an eye on those he had marked. Those moving with the Tier 5s he had rescued already numbered in the thousands. Among those, there were two Adriana's. One Tier 5, the other Tier 2.

He was inclined to think the Tier 5 was the one he was here for, but he knew from experience that catching the eye of the gods did not require strength. Potential was most important. Thus, he couldn't know for sure which he needed to save.

Luckily, for now, they were heading in the same direction. Eldrian could only hope there weren't more by the name Adriana. He didn't think it was such a common name that there would be more than a handful inside the city. But, then again, he had no idea what was considered a common name within the capital city of the dead.

As Eldrian's thoughts were wandering and his slaughter continued, he was finally forced to focus on a new target. They were only Tier 5, normally not a problem.

However, Eldrian was spreading his mageia through the surrounding 100 meters to avoid surprise attacks landing. And because of this, he noticed the familiar feeling of an aura around this undead.

'Ah vampire. And this feels similar to Levana's power. So... darkness consume, or drain, or something,' Eldrian noted, sending an icicle at the vampire's heart.

"Tsk, dodged, huh?" Clicking his tongue in annoyance that his sneak attack hadn't worked. Mana of the fire element hidden within the icicle, ready to burst when the time came.

Eldrian had realized in his fight with the ghouls that fire spells lacked piercing power, and ice lacked the affinity to destroy the undead. This was his hasty solution. Sadly, it wasn't perfect.

The vampire dodged the follow up, and then the icicle exploded. Eldrian was still figuring out control of the mixed spell.

Its strength wasn't that great. The ice was about Tier 4 in quality, but the fire was only Tier 2 or 1 even. Making it equivalent to the ice led to the immediate melting or exploding of the spell.

Sadly, Eldrian couldn't refine the spell further while fighting so many opponents—though they made for good target practice.

He especially couldn't pause, since that would allow the stronger enemies (for now, he assumed they were the leaders of the larger groups) to catch up to him.

"Who are you?" The vampire shouted in question, and Eldrian threw a few more icicles at it. Some the advanced form of Frost Needle (Tier 4 and 5), others his new Fire Crystals.

"Hmph! Do not think you can look down on me!" Darkness bounded from the vampire.

'Yup, same thing. Less refined. Easy peasy.' To answer the darkness, Eldrian threw dozens of lower tiered spells at it.

"Do you think such weak spells will defeat me?" The vampire gloated as he tried consuming the mana forming the spells. That was when everything went awry.

"Oh, you survived?" Eldrian mumbled in surprise. A crater where the vampire used to be.

The vampire had been flung a dozen meters backwards from the explosion. Naturally, to give the attack more power, Eldrian had thrown a tiny mana crystal into the mix.

With all the chaotic mana around it, an explosion was imminent. And an explosion of two thousand mana wasn't something someone at Tier 5 could easily survive. After all, a normal mage wouldn't even have a thousand mana.

"You! What tric—" Thrusting the flaming Crystoi through the vampire's heart and head, Eldrian nodded at the notification, confirming the vampire's death.

As he turned to continue towards the library, a spear of darkness pierced the ground before him. Looking up, Eldrian saw a furious-looking vampire. Her aura of darkness was on another level, equal to, if not surpassing Levana's.

Unlike the nubile raven haired vampire Eldrian was 'friends' with, this one had blood red hair and a voluptuous figure. Her heaving in rage certainly made the latter quite clear. Her robes were about to become undone as darkness seeped through her being.

"Sorry, was that your brother?" Eldrian asked, noting that the vampire he had just killed as blood red hair too.

"HOW DARE YOU!" she shouted, diving at Eldrian. Darkness consuming the sky.

"Don't you want to rescue him?" Eldrian asked casually, forming a barrier of ice and flames to block the attack. Naturally, he used runic magic since simple spells would be too weak. Still, he grunted when it ended up consuming over a thousand mana to block her attack.

It was then that the attacker realized her attack was about to consume her brother's corpse, and as she became distracted and dispelled the attack, Eldrian teleported.

"YOU COWARD!" Her voice echoed through the city, but Eldrian wasn't about to fight a Tier 8 vampire on his own.

He used Cloak to hide himself and fuelled all the mana he needed into his ring to hide himself. Even controlling the surrounding air to prevent any smell or noise from escaping.

Eldrian then quickly moved towards the library, consuming multiple of the looted mana crystals to recover the mana he had spent in his fights. Near the end, he had to rely on his soul mana to teleport. Which was supposed to be only for emergencies.

Though, facing a Tier 8 opponent certainly counted as an emergency in Eldrian's book.

"Right, time for a big boom." Eldrian thought, drawing magic circles through the library as he threw all the books he could into his inventory.

The library was actually on the premise of a dark magic school, and most of the information here was common knowledge for the undead. But it would be super useful for the kingdom, which had basically no knowledge of how undeath worked.

Incidentally, because of the chaos, the school wasn't just abandoned, but had even been evacuated. Eldrian had been curious what type of creatures would attend it, but not needing to deal with anyone was better than needing to fight to loot the library.

"Glad they didn't notice what I was aiming for." Eldrian mumbled. But that was also precisely why he had moved as he had while causing chaos.

Following the trail of destruction would lead anyone to think he was heading for the castle where the ruler of the city lived. And, since he had killed everyone in seconds, no one knew how strong he was.

Naturally, they would prioritize increasing their defenses rather than attacking the escaping slaves or defending a random school.

So, once preparations were completed, Eldrian dropped a medium mana crystal and ran. He even used Soar to fly over the houses to cover as much distance as possible. Two seconds alter, and a hundred meters covered, an explosion shook the entire city.
