79 Ch. 79 Secret Hiding Room
At night, after putting Lori to sleep in Anxia’s room, Anxia sneaked out and headed to her husband’s room. As soon as the door opened, Anxia didn’t mince words and reveal her purpose for coming here.
“Richard, you’ve been putting off all day, leaving me in the dark. Now tell me how you saved Meng Meng and where she is now.”
“All right, come inside.”
“...”
Richard had opened the door wide to let his wife in, but Anxia stayed still.
“Does it have to be inside? Can’t we talk outside? It looks like the air at night is especially nice today.” Anxia would not be fooled into going back into the lions’ den only to give herself up for this man’s meal.
Anxia felt quite lucky because her daughter saved her in time this afternoon. But now Lori was fast asleep in her room and would only wake up tomorrow morning. Who would save her if Richard threw another trap again and she was lured into entering it?
Thus, Anxia insisted on not entering this accursed room and tried to persuade Richard to talk outside. She didn’t give a commanding tone because she didn’t want to irritate the man. But she also did not beg like a slut seducing her target.
She engaged the man to negotiate normally without being arrogant or child-like manner. Anxia genuinely wished to hear the answer and was willing to wait longer, instead feeling that mind-blowing intimacy.
.....
Didn’t Richard say that he wanted Anxia to rely on him more? If Richard truly wished for Anxia to depend on him, then at least the man would provide assurance and proof that the man had saved Ling Meng.
Unlike Anxia, ??who had a serious face as if she was taking a national exam on campus, Richard chuckled at his wife’s reluctance to enter his room.
How did his wife know he was planning another intimate session with Anxia?
“Okay. Shall we go to the upper balcony? We can see the stars from there.”
“...”
Upper balcony? Is the place indoor or outdoor? Why did this man suggest a location she had not yet explored?
“Chillax. I won’t pound on you tonight.”
Anxia’s brow furrowed at that, as if she couldn’t believe the man’s words.
Even if she could believe Richard’s confidently spoken words, it was the man’s hand that she couldn’t trust.
For some reason, Anxia felt that Richard couldn’t keep his hands to himself.
“How can I trust you? You look like a teenager going through puberty and get excited when someone introduces sex for the first time.” Anxia stepped back as Richard extended his hand toward her.
“I’m not a teenager going through puberty, but I do get excited when I see you.”
Anxia’s pair of black eyes widened when she heard her husband’s last announcement.
“Stop diverting the conversation. You always change the topic whenever I bring up Meng Meng. Don’t tell me... are you tricking me? You haven’t saved Meng Meng yet, have you? Or could it be... is she... dead?”
Richard sighed resignedly at her negative conclusions. “Alright, alright. I won’t drag it longer. You should know if I wanted to earn your trust, I wouldn’t lie to you. Come here. I’ll take you to the upper balcony.”
“You think I’m a child? Why do I have to go into your room to go there?”
“Because the stairs leading up are in my room,” Richard answered patiently. “Trust me. I promise I won’t do anything to you and will explain it once we get there. Hmm?” Richard was still faithfully waiting with his arms outstretched towards Anxia.
Anxia contemplated whether she could believe her husband’s words or not. This was the first time she had acted on guard and had to think hard to face her interlocutor. Usually, she didn’t need to hesitate when looking for the information she needed from the other person. If the person sealed his mouth, Anxia would force him by torturing him.
But she couldn’t force Richard or torture him. Every time she tried to attack Richard, the man managed to defend himself and countered her. The man had his own way of making her submit and dissolve into his game.
Anxia felt like she was walking toward the ocean. The farther she walked, the more soaking her body was from the water, and she drowned under the sea every time she communicated with her husband.
She felt like Richard was pulling her to sink under the ocean, and no one was able to bring her back to the surface.
Anxia didn’t want to drown, and she didn’t even want to step into the ocean. But... what choice does she have?
If she wanted to know Ling Meng’s actual state, Anxia had to follow all her husband’s rules, whether she liked it.
Anxia looked at Richard’s outstretched hand in doubt but finally raised a hand and placed it on top of her husband’s palm.
Something mysterious happened to Anxia when Richard held her hand. For some reason, Anxia felt something warm envelop her heart when the man stroked her hand gently.
Anxia let Richard lead her into the room and closed the door. With a curious gaze, Anxia followed Richard’s steps to the dressing room behind the wall facing the man’s king-size bed.
They kept walking until they came across a classic wardrobe made of mahogany wood.
Richard released his grip to open the two doors, and Anxia gasped when she saw what was in the cupboard.
As it turned out, the contents of the wardrobe were not clothing, as she thought, but a small room with a standard-sized bed that was enough for two to three people to occupy. Beside the bed was a spiral staircase leading up where there was a black hole in the ceiling.
This place was like a small room, while the wardrobe was the door to this secret hiding room.
Richard smiled with satisfaction when he saw the stunned expression of his wife as she looked at all the décor of this smaller room with eyes full of interest.
Richard remembered he used to play hide and seek with the Heineset kids with his two younger siblings here. At that time, Richard accidentally found this place and deliberately hid himself on the upper balcony, making him the winner every time he played this game.
No one could find where he was hiding, but he could always locate where the other kids’ hiding places.
Richard had an adventurous spirit that was greater than his younger siblings. Very little could scare him, but too many things could make him want to explore it.
It was not surprising that Richard knew the ins and outs of this palace, the secret tunnels under the ground, and a super advanced car.
There was one more way out of this island without using a helicopter or boat. There was a tunnel connected to the open sea beneath this island with a high-powered and high-speed car.
This car did not require engine fuel but used electricity. In addition, this car was not ordinary because it had settings to turn into a submarine and float above the ground.
So if Richard wanted to get out of this island without taking a helicopter or boat, Richard could go out through the underground tunnel using this sophisticated car while enjoying the raw beauty under the sea.
Only Richard and Stanley know about it because it was Stanley who designed this car program. No one knew, including their own family nor the Heinest, about this tunnel and the vehicle.
Richard didn’t plan to tell Anxia, either for fear Anxia would plan her escape again.
After being satisfied with admiring the decoration and design of the main palace room, Richard took her hand again and led Anxia up the spiral staircase leading to the top.
The higher their feet stepped, the darker around them made Anxia restless. She wasn’t a scared girl with this darkness, but she couldn’t stop this uneasy feeling.
Only after their footsteps had almost reached the top did Anxia begin to see the light shining from above.
When Anxia emerged from the cylindrical hole that looked like a tunnel, a pair of black eyes gleamed at the scene presented before her.
She could see the ocean on her left, while she could see mountains on her right. In front of her were the palace’s backyard, a flower garden, and a helicopter landing area behind it.
Anxia looked up at the sky and could see hundreds, if not thousands, of stars twinkling in the dark sky.
Instantly she felt this place was so magical that it could make her forget her purpose of meeting Richard for a while. It was too breathtaking to the point she felt like she was born to witness this extraordinary sight.
It wasn’t long before Anxia felt two strong arms wrap around her stomach while her left shoulder felt heavy as Richard rested his chin on hers.
“Do you like it?” his sweet, charming whisper almost stole Anxia’s breath.
