220 Ch. 220 Yang Guang
Not long after, Richard returned with two rectangular Styrofoam boxes and approached his wife and daughter. However, after counting the heads of the children in the sand arena, the number was mysteriously increasing by one.
“Wow, ice cream!” squealed Lori cheerfully, breaking Richard’s thought. Nonetheless, he chuckled in amusement, seeing how excited his daughter was.
Richard placed the two styrofoam cities on the empty bench and opened the lid. Each box contains four ice cream cones placed in the cone holder. He took the holder out and let the kids take one at will, followed by Anxia and casually next to her husband with Richard’s arm around her shoulder.
“Who is that kid?” asked Richard, looking at a new kid in a mask who refused to take the ice cream. For some reason, this boy was not interested in eating ice cream, unlike other kids.
“His name is Yang Guang. Isn’t he sweet? He got along quickly with the others.”
“Oh?” was Richard’s only comment as he devoured the scoop of ice cream in two bites. The weirdest thing happened—Richard’s gaze couldn’t be separated from the black-masked boy as if a magnet was pulling him to look at the boy.
If it were an adult wearing a black mask, he would feel wary and look at the person suspiciously. But… when he saw this kid wearing a mask, he didn’t have suspicion but curiosity.
As if feeling himself being stared at by someone, Yang Guang looked up at Richard, and it was then that Richard’s body froze. Even though Richard couldn’t see the boy’s lips, the eyes showed a friendly smile... just like someone.
“Xia Xia, he has the same eyes as you.”
.....
“What? Why so?”
“It’s weird, isn’t it? I wonder why I see you when I see him?”
Anxia slapped her husband’s shoulder playfully, “Stop joking around. It’s getting late.”
“So?”
“So it’s time for us to take them home.”
“What?” Richard stared at his wife with a protest look. “Why should we? Jackson’s parents are here, and Cliver’s driver is also here.”
“We have to send Louis and Yang Guang.” Anxia couldn’t help but chuckle in amusement at seeing her husband’s shameless pout.
“Daddy! Do you still have another ice cream?” Lori hugged Richard’s knee when asking for another ice cream while putting in irresistible puppy eyes.
“What? You finished yours already?”
“Yeah! Can I have another? Please? Please?”
Richard brushed his finger on his daughter’s nose while agreeing to her request. Luckily, he bought the ice creams more than necessary, so Lori and Anxia could have another bite as the other kids didn’t want to eat more than one ice cream.
After they all finished their ice cream, Anxia called Jackson’s mother to tell them they were going home. It didn’t take long for Jackson’s parents to come and take the child back home… not before Jackson invited Lori over to his house to see his newborn sister.
“Lori, you can come to my house any time you want to see my sister.”
“I’d love to! Dad, mom, can I come to his house tomorrow?”
Richard and Anxia looked at each other, and finally, Richard agreed to his daughter’s request with a heavy heart. Although he didn’t want his daughter to get too close to other boys, Richard didn’t want to keep his daughter confined inside the house all the time. Moreover, he heard that Jackson’s mother had just given birth to a daughter.
Lori would love to see a newborn baby and play with the baby.
“Of course, you can.” after hearing his permission, Lori and Jackson bounced with loud child-like squeals. Not only the kids but Jackson’s mother also seemed more than delighted to have one step closer to being with Richard’s close acquaintance.
Richard and Anxia knew the hidden intention of the family but gave no care as they would bring no harm to them. Nevertheless, Lori was still five, and Richard didn’t want his daughter to be influenced by the upper class to get their son closer to Lori.
It seemed he had made a mistake by sending his daughter to an elite school. Should he send her to a regular school? But he wants to give the best for his daughter. This was the dilemma of a father who loved his daughter so much... the only child he had.
While Richard was contemplating his dilemma, a soft touch on his fingertips broke his reverie. Reflexively, Richard looked down and saw that a mysterious little boy was shyly holding his little finger.
“I’m sorry. Can I hold your hand?” asked the boy politely.
In a normal situation, Richard would immediately take the child’s hand indifferently and return the boy to his parents. Yet, he had the urge to be friendly with this child for some reason.
Richard crouched down to meet their eyes and opened his large palms.
“Of course. You can hold it as you like.”
Richard couldn’t see the boy’s smile, but when he noticed the sparkling eyes, Richard knew that this boy was happy when he got his permission. Richard couldn’t see Anxia, Lori, and Louis gawking in disbelief at his drastic change in attitude. The man was friendly towards children but often gave off an intimidating aura whenever a boy approached his daughter. And yet, not only was he kind to this unknown kid, but he also allowed the kid to touch him!?
Will there be rain this summer? Anxia couldn’t help but raise her head to see the bright sky, indicating there would be no rain today.
“Boy, what’s your name again?”
“My name’s Yang Guang, but they call me Elliot here.”
“Yang Guang? Interesting name. Do you live here?”
Yang Guang shook his head. “My nanny brought me here for a few days, and we will go home tomorrow.”
“What a pity. Where is it?”
Instead of answering, the boy held Richard’s hand with both tiny hands, intriguing Richard’s interest.
The more Richard looked at the boy, the more he could see Anxia as if the boy was his wife’s reflection... in the male version... especially those jade black with star-like spark eyes.
