Chapter 710 - A Knight

Scarlet House, Ocien.

"What do you want from me?" Max asked with a dark look on his face. His face was still twisted in pain.

"Well, now you are speaking my language." A sweet smile emerged on Talia's face as Max finally began to show signs of bowing down to her.

"I just want you to be my person."

"Don't you think you are too old for me? You even have a kid?" Max laughed as he looked at Travis standing behind.

"This b*stard…" Travis immediately became furious, and punched Max right into his face.

"Bang!"

Talia frowned, and just slightly raised her hand, asking him to stop.

Max was not a fool here. He knew how to act. If he just ended up becoming her dog, it would be tough for him to move around and get any information from her. It would be one sided.

He at least wanted to have a position which was below her, but not at her feet.

How about her right hand?

A person she could trust, and share information? And, that sounded very right to him. With the Demonic Transformation, she should have enough reason to trust him. He was a person who wouldn't be able to betray her if things went well.

"Do you really wanna play smart with me here?" She asked while looking at Max with a sharp look in her eyes.

Travis grabbed Max's collar and lifted his face up by the hair. Max's lips had busted from the punch earlier.

"I don't dare. But, you know a man has his dignity. You can't expect me to turn into a dog for your family." Max snorted.

Talia looked at Travis and then gestured to him to let go of him.

"What do you want?"

"What can you give me?" Max asked in return as he gazed at her.

"Do you think you are in position to negotiate?" Travis was enraged, but Talia just gave him a look and he turned quiet.

"I will give you anything you want."

"Oh my, aren't you being too bold at dropping hints?" Max asked with a smile.

"You son of b*t-"

"Enough!" Talia's voice rang out in the room, and her aura erupted suppressing both Max and Travis.

"I will ask you one more time. What do you want?"

"Hmmn… well, as you can see. I am not afraid of death. There aren't many interesting things around. I thought Ancient Families surely were one. But, now this has happened. It might not be bad playing the game from the opposite site as well."

"But, I hate when people think they can do whatever they want to me.." He looked at her, and then at Travis.

"You want me to be a dog? Hell no. That doesn't sound right. How about you make me into a Knight. A knight for my queen?" Max asked with a smile.

"Obviously, a knight will only serve his queen. And, everyone except the queen has to be respectful to him."

"Stop your bullsh*t!" Travis glared at him.

But, Talia didn't refuse and only stared at him. She was contemplating her decision.

"Fine, I will allow it." She finally reached her decision. And, that was an easy choice honestly. In front of this minor inconvenience, was a huge opportunity. She knew how to make the right decision.

"Mom!!"

"We will talk later.." Talia looked at him, and he could only grit his teeth in anger.

"How about we start some series of questions and answers first? Since you are my knight, I expect you to answer them truthfully." Talia looked at him, and then continued, "So, tell me. Why are the Ancient Families interested in you?"

"They say that I have potential and can shoulder some big responsibilities. But, before that, I have to pass through their Ancestral grounds trial. Currently, I am being prepared for that through other missions," Max calmly replied.

'Responsibility? Ancestral ground?' Talia muttered inwardly, 'It seems they want to prepare him as a potential successor of the Artifact.'

She was actually satisfied with the explanation. If Max had told her it was any other reason, she surely would have doubted him. Not to mention, with Max's current statement, it only raised his importance in her eyes.

Max was someone who could deeply infiltrate the Ancient Families. She couldn't ask for anything better.

"What more do you know about the Ancient Families?"

"I don't know much. I have only been in touch with them recently. Even though my Master is from the Zatch family, he had never told me about his background. Not to mention, the Ancient Family are very secretive. I haven't even been to their base once."

"Are you telling the truth?" Talia asked as Max's eyes turned blank. He had fallen into her control once again. At least she thought he had.

"Yes, I am telling the truth.." Max nodded like a puppet.

'I might have to wait if that is the case.'

After all, if what Max said was true, then he didn't have much of a use now. She only viewed the Ancient Families as a trouble. And, obtaining crucial information on them could possibly allow her to gain some achievement and power back in the Demon world.

As for the 12 Noble Houses, she had never thought of them as her competition even once.

They were just a bunch of clowns whom she would eventually take down when the time came. Hell, even her nephew was playing with them, much less her.

For now, most of her focus was on expanding the Scarlet House, and at the same time increasing the Demon influence in their territory. And, to be honest, she was doing a pretty good job at it.

"A while ago, Wilson had stolen a weapon from Neo of the Yule Family. Do you know anything about it?" Talia suddenly asked, and Max was definitely surprised but he hid it inwardly.

He wasn't expecting it to come up here. It seemed like something was going on.

'Just how much more is this woman plotting?'
